Pray for our American Heroes
April 20, 2013 | Irish Rose

Posted on 04/20/2013 1:01:52 PM PDT by Irish Rose

The eyes of all look to you,
and you give them their food at the proper time.
You open your hand
and satisfy the desires of every living thing.

The LORD is righteous in all his ways
and loving toward all he has made.
The LORD is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cry and saves them.
The LORD watches over all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.
(Psalm 145:15-20)

Father in heaven, we gather in Your Name, and in Your Name we pray.

Lord, we pray for our military, that You would enable them to serve their country well and to protect her.

Father, we ask You to give grace to all those who are suffering because of the Boston terror attack. We pray that You will bring the full truth of the attack to light, and guide our government in its response.

LORD, the eyes of all look to You, for You give us food and breath and our lives. When You open Your hand, You satisfy the desires of every living thing, for You are loving toward all You have made. And we also look to You, to fulfill our desires and to answer us at the proper time. For You are our righteous Father, who gives good gifts to His children, who watches over all who love Him, who hears the cry of those who fear Him, and saves them; You are near to all who call on You, to all who call on You in truth. Lord, help each of us to trust in Your promises, and to be content in what You have already given us, as we pray to You in the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Wonderfully Made

April 20, 2013

While getting an eye exam recently, my doctor hauled out a piece of equipment that I hadn’t seen before. I asked him what the device was, and he responded, “I’m using it to take a picture of the inside of the back of your eye.”

I was impressed that someone had invented a camera that could do that. But I was even more impressed by what my doctor could learn from that picture. He said, “We can gather a lot of details about your current general health simply by looking at the back of your eye.”

My doctor’s comment amazed me. It is remarkable that a person’s overall health can be measured by the health of the eye. What care the Lord has taken to place these details in the bodies He has created! It immediately brings to my mind the words of David, the psalmist, who reveled in God’s creativity: “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well” (Ps. 139:14).

The enormous complexities of our bodies reflect the genius and wisdom of our great Creator. The wonder of His design is more than breathtaking—it gives us countless reasons to worship Him!

Lord, we are in awe of You! Thank You that You
created us with such complexity and care
and that You know us with such intimacy.
We love You and trust You with our lives.
All life is created by God and bears His autograph.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!

GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON
THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE

In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

In like manner, let our prayers now rise like a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and envelop them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Heavenly Father, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these brave men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Lord, always give our military the wisdom never to raise their rifles against law abiding citizens.

AMEN, Irish Rose.

Father, we also pray that the patriotism and the turning to God that this event in Boston caused would REMAIN!! You are found by all who seek You. Show them Your goodness and remind people of their promises of service to You when prayers are answered. Pour out of Your Spirit on this thirsty land, Sir. How we bless You this day in Jesus’ most holy and mighty name.
