Pope Francis has directed the bishops of Argentina, his home country, to govern the Church there following a document that makes clear that holy communion should be disallowed for any person who facilitates abortion, including politicians.
These are the guidelines we need for this time in history, the pope wrote to the bishops.
According to LifeSiteNews, Pope Francis emphasized use of the Aparecida Document as a framework in a letter to the Argentine Assembly of Bishops sent in late March. In 2007, then-Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio--now Pope Francis--first presented the document on behalf of the bishops of Latin America.
Cardinal Bergoglio was highly critical of those who promoted the death sentence of abortion for unborn children in Argentina. His criticism peaked following a clandestine abortion performed on a mentally disabled woman with the assistance of the nations health minister.....

Even though he specifically directed this to bishops of Argentina, an instruction of this type (Administration of the Holy Sacrament during Mass) from the Head of the Church could only reasonably be interpreted as applying to bishops worldwide by implication, although he could be expected to make that explicit later on. After all, it is not a different version of Catholicism in Argentina. So I kind of agree with you.
This is a reference to a letter approved by Pope BENEDICT in 2007.
I don’t see why they would want to take communion. What purpose does it serve them?
PR with ‘fellow’ Catholics. Everything is PR for them And good PR or they don’t do it.
Yes, I do get in a rush to post a thread sometimes. One of the few places where I’m competitive, for some reason. It often ticks me off when someone posts an article that I’ve already posted. Maybe I should take an “anger management” course or something. LOL
They want to maintain the appearance of having faith in God, when their true faith is in liberalism and government.
Biden and Nancy Pelosi were welcomed to the Vatican and received communion during the Popes’ inauguration some weeks ago.
Hallelujah!
Had a feeling I was going to like this guy.
(Said in the very kindest, most admiring possible way:) it appears that this Holy Father maybe doesn’t sing the very highest notes in the choir. Pray he follows through on this, it could do a lot of good.
Most bishops are like the GOP-e. They want to please everybody and still have ‘values’. No bishop will do the right thing and tell Pelsoi to take a hike.
How do you know this for sure?
:-D
By Historical example.
The truth many Catholics refuse to face is that their leadership has ignored church doctrine out of political fear of what government will do in backlash, rather than enforce biblical and church doctrine.
I don’t like it either but I refuse to deny the truth and continue to empower them to do more of it. They do not need the Pope to tell them what they very well know. But God takes a back seat again.
Well, that’ll end the honeymoon. Can’t for the life of me understand why this was directed only to his home country.
Waiting to hear a clear confirmation of this. I hope they deny Communion to Chief Justice John Roberts.
Yet, even if this Pope manages to actually make great strides in calling unrepentant pro-abortion Catholics to the carpet and puts teeth into his declarations, forcing them to choose their religion over politics, it will not affect my decision to remain separated from the Roman Catholic Church. As important as the abortion issue is, it doesn't trump the Gospel as the highest priority. Until the Catholic Church returns to teaching justification by grace through faith in Christ apart from works - as the early church did, they will remain separated from God teaching an accursed gospel.
No communion or Catholic rite of burial!
Whether we can reach cold calculating powerful individual politicians is one thing, no church can necessarily do that, what I want is an ugly public battle, a pro-life confrontation, a drawing of the lines, a clear war message that reaches the Catholic voters, that penetrates through the Catholic fog, that forces the Catholic voters who are coasting and blocking out the absolutes, to see the democrat party as something unacceptable to Christians and to Catholics.
That Catholic message better happen fast because the GOP is slowly drifting to soften their pro-life position and social stances to win over those voters. Conservatives are in serious danger of not having a major social conservative party to vote for.
That doesn't explain their politics in America, it wasn't fear, it was a political goal, now the question is, life and traditional marriage, Christian conservatism, etc, or liberalism and unions, welfare, immigration, social justice, big city machine politics, etc.
