Isn’t it a disgrace that all religious organizations don’t stand on that ground? He pretty much nailed it.

Actually it is his theologian,I reread the article....but still I would like religious institutions to stand up against this idea that individuals have to essentially condemn themselves to homosexuality.

Likewise I didn’t mean to imply that the Vatican was full of homosexuals, just that it hadn’t dealt or spoken with the secular world in terms that lay could both understand and benefit from.

I see no valid reason for treating a group that is positively harmful with any species of “dignity” with no affront meant to the prelate.

As he said, to treat homosexual people with dignity means to tell them the truth.

You don't oppose that, do you?

“I see no valid reason for treating a group that is positively harmful with any species of “dignity” with no affront meant to the prelate.”

Because not all homosexuals are activists and in your face with their gayness. There are many who just live their lives, being low key about being gay, and not bothering anyone. I believe one can’t paint with a broad brush. I think this is what the papal theologian was saying about treating them with dignity. They are still part of humanity, and have been throughout history.

The Roman historians referred to homosexuals hanging out around the bathhouses. There are ancient Roman vases with paintings of homosexuals doing sexual acts, so homosexuality has been around for a long, long time. I’m a live and let live type of person as long as you don’t get up front and personal, or in my face. Then I get hostile. No gay activists for me, thank you.

Great Article and We Need the Church to Stand UP! and Speak Out! Who will if the Church and Leaders will not? Oh yea Prophets of the past did, Because the Leaders of their times did not listen to God and his Words...

laglady, you are defending a "Live and Let Live," you-do-our-thing,-I'll-do-mine kind of approach, and there's a certain worldly sense in that. As Lady Campbell said, "Does it really matter what these affectionate people do, so long as they don't do it on the street and frighten the horses?"

This, however, is not what the papal theologian was talking about. He was talking about respect for the dignity of homosexual persons --- not tolerance, not niceness, not a laissez-faire indifference, but respect --- which entails the sometimes not-tolerant, not-nice obligation to tell them the truth.

The "respect" of which I speak is not respect for their sexual appetites, nor their indulgence of the same, but respect for their persons. This is rooted in respect for God who made them. Not that He made them gay (He did no such thing) but that He made them human.

Tolerance is not a Christian virtue.

Tolerance is not a Christian virtue.

BRAVO! Exactly. But I’m beginning to doubt that any so-called Christian (especially in the media, if there ARE any) realizes it. They confuse charity with tolerance—deadly.

The 61-year-old of Polish background said, “I’ve seen the Communist ideology, which seemed to be so powerful, and it’s gone! Ideologies come and go, and they have the idea of changing humanity, of changing human nature. Human nature cannot be changed; it can be distorted. But the elevation of perversion to the level of a fundamental value that has to be nurtured and nourished and promoted – this is absolutely sick.”

Bravo. Makes me want to convert.

Oh nose, that can’t be true! Just a while ago a long time member posted the following on another thread: “Your pope is a charlatan!”

Deal with this, because local Religious Modernators won’t!

“Now, what we are observing in many countries world-wide, certainly in the 20th and the 21st century, there is an enormous extension of the responsibility of States. Now, the more the State is encroaching on the economy, on family life, on education – the State is saying that only the State has the monopoly to decide about these things. The more the State is omnipotent, the more the ethical standards are lowered, because it’s impossible to promote high ethical standards by the State."

Every big government liberal, democrat, and Barack Obama all need to hear this and understand it.

This is Truth to Power.

I’m a live and let live type of person as long as you don’t get up front and personal, or in my face. Then I get hostile.

All of Creation is witnessing this foolish argument. He has already revealed to all Creation the consequences of this perspective, and to instead rely upon His righteous Judgment and his just Righteousness.

Getting hostile in this situation simply is a reaction to arrogance, instead of a response to His Plan.

In an interview with LifeSiteNews.com, Papal Theologian Rev. Wojciech Giertych, spoke of the need to treat persons with homosexual inclination with dignity, adding that dignity means telling them the truth. What truth? “Homosexuality is against human nature.”

Riiiight...And then the homo will show you examples of homosexuality 'within nature'...This guy doesn't get out much???

Why does he fail to mention that queerdom is an abomination to God??? Maybe he's never read the scriptures...

"...we began talking about contraception, and homosexuality is tied with it because since contraception destroys the quality of relationships amongst the spouses, and it generates sexual license outside marriage, and it reduces sexuality to an easy source of pleasure with no responsibility, that pleasure without responsibility is never satisfying, and it generates like a drug. It generates a hunger for even more pleasure, which is even more not truly satisfying, not giving ultimate happiness, and so there is a search for more perverted types of sexual pleasure, which can never fulfill the human person."

Now that's a good one...Contraception leads to homosexuality...Idiot!!!

He was appointed by Benedict XVI. We’ll have to see if he remains in his position...I’m not sure how that works with popes.

I know that Benedict XVI spoke out about gay marriage/homosexuals, but I have yet to see Pope Francis do this (unless I missed it).

He said it was tied to it, not that it led to it. Two different things.
