Pope Francis in Favor of Gay and Women Priests? (It's sinful how the journalists twisted his words)
Standing on my head ^ | July 28, 2013 | Fr. Dwight Longenecker

Posted on 07/29/2013 2:52:39 PM PDT by NYer

Those who complain that the mainstream media doesn’t report on church matters should stop complaining….or should they? CBS, CNN, the BBC and the Daily Telegraph all report on the Pope’s conversation with reporters on his flight back to Rome. All have the screaming headline, “Pope Francis: Who Am I to Judge Gays?”

One of the articles has the subtitle, “Pope answers questions on the possibilities of gay and women priests”….as if there were such possibilities. In fact Pope Francis spoke most clearly and firmly about the possibility of women priests saying, “The church has spoken on this matter. The door is closed.” When it comes to people with same sex attraction Francis simply re-affirmed the teaching of the Catechism of the Catholic Church that homosexual people are not to be treated badly in any way, but welcomed as all are welcomed. However, homosexual actions remain objectively disordered and sinful.

What is sinful is the way the journalists twisted his words. All the headlines screamed “Pope says ‘Who Am I to Judge Gays?’” Several journalists again set him up against Benedict XVI who said that men with deeply seated homosexual inclinations should not be admitted to seminary. Francis didn’t repudiate that advice, but the journos once again set the gentle, scholarly Benedict up as “Nazi Ratzi”, “the Enforcer” and the “Former head of the Inquisition.”

The journalists are either fools or knaves. They either do not understand the full teaching of the Catholic Church or they twist it on purpose, and I believe they are the latter not the former. They threw rocks at Benedict for being Emperor Palpatine while they will give Francis the Judas kiss. They will kill him with kindness. They will use his “peace and justice” message to promote their left wing agenda while they twist his traditionalist teachings to suit their own aims just as they have done in this display of articles today.

They remind me of Middle School bullies who use “mock friendship” to bully others. Anybody who has worked with Middle School kids has seen it. The boys gang up on poor little Franky, and when they are called on their bullying they switch tactics and when they see Franky they cry, “Franky old buddy!! Howareya?” They rush up and give him bear hugs that are too long, slaps on the back which are too hard and high fives that hurt.” They know they are bullying him. He knows they are bullying him, and everybody knows they are bullying him, but there isn’t anything much the teachers can do about it.

So if you think the mainstream media are pleased about Pope Francis the rock star pope. Think again. They’re hopping mad….

…but they’re not going to show it.

UPDATE: More detail on the “gay” part of Pope Francis’ inflight entertainment from Jimmy Akin here and The Anchoress fumes about the stuff and gives lots of links here.

The blow back on FR against the Pope and Catholics has come from ingesting large gulps of the media koolaid. Laughable were it not so pathetic. But, it’s ignorance of the Church that sets the tongues wagging, and the generations of
fear to learn. Catholicism is SCARY don’t you know?

There will not be women priests. Not going to happen.

As for gay priests, we know that there have been and still are gay priests. If they are celibate, then it doesn't matter who they are celibate with.

If they are not celibate, that is a sin. And if they are not celibate with an altar boy, then we'll hear all about it, except for the part where they're gay.

Sorry, you may want gay priests in the Catholic Church. I sure don’t. They are still thinking in sexual terms about being attracted to other men, which is a distinct deviation from the norm. They are not psychologically healthy, and I surely don’t think they should be around all that temptation (other male priests, altar boys) just in case they pass beyond thought and into temptation. You want to take that chance? Do you know what the recidivism rate for sexual deviants is? Very, very high. Do you want to take a chance on a gay priest (in thoughts only of course) around your child?

I know you are trying to be funny. But I’m not laughing at the sacrilege included in your remark.

Again, to quote Archbishop Chaput:
We make a very serious mistake if we rely on media like the New York Times, Newsweek, CNN, or MSNBC for reliable news about religion. These news media simply don’t provide trustworthy information about religious faith—and sometimes they can’t provide it, either because of limited resources or because of their own editorial prejudices. These are secular operations focused on making a profit. They have very little sympathy for the Catholic faith, and quite a lot of aggressive skepticism toward any religious community that claims to preach and teach God’s truth.

Would you allow a straight priest around your female child? Or your wife? Or your sister?

You're delusional if you believe that there haven't been gay priests before the present.

What say you about Msgr Ricci?

Pope Benedict, unlike his predecessor, took care of Marcial Maciel immediately.

Pope Francis seems to not give a damn; just like JP II.

Why joke about a “gay lobby” and “card-carrying queers” when you are appointing them to high offices?

If I knew they were gay, I wouldn’t like it. Would you? Do you have an affinity for gay priests in the Catholic Church? Maybe you don’t believe they have caused enough trouble already? Where have the vast majority of sex scandals in the Catholic Church come from. That’s right, from gay pedophile priests.

Yes, I’d allow a straight priest around children way before I’d allow a gay one. Straight priests that end up cheating do it with adult females, not children. Gay priests are too often pedophiles and go after children. That’s a big difference. I have no idea why you are defending gay priests, practicing or not. They are sexual deviants, either by thought or by action. They don’t belong as priests or pastors or as a rabbi, in any church. And in a mosque they would be beheaded.

I question why Pope Francis gave the interview on the plane. Pope Francis greatly underestimates the meaness and dishonesty of the media.
