Pro-abort Girl Scout CEO receives award at Mass from Cardinal Dolan
A Blog for Dallas Area Catholics ^ | April 24, 2013 | Blog

Posted on 01/05/2014 8:07:24 PM PST by Arthur McGowan

The current head of the Girls Scouts USA, Anna Maria Chavez, is a nominal Catholic with strong ties to numerous pro-abort politicians, and served as an apparatchik for the democrat party for many years. She has campaigned repeatedly for pro-abort politicians. And yet, in spite of the massive problems with the Girl Scouts overall, and their current CEO in particular, Cardinal Dolan saw fit to bestow an award on Ms. Chavez, the “St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Medal.”

•Radio Host: Girl Scouts Promote 'Lesbianism'

No wonder I hear all the young men talking how they can't find dates. The Girl Scouts are taking them out of the system.

FWIW, I think recruiting your clergy from young celebate men has some consequences. Paul told Timothy to consider men who were married and mature in the faith. Not throwing stones here, but perhaps if it was allowed to have both demographics in your church may solve some of these issues. A few bishops who have been married raised a few kids may add a perspective the Roman Catholic church is in need of.

Food for thought.

Oh, I’m sure you don’t want me to post the entire list of links where Bishops came out against Obamacare. It just wasn’t a few!

If your list includes public statements prior to the passage of the bill , then that would be good info to post so the Catholic church faithful can know who they are dealing with. I gather more bishops came on line once the "surprise" was over.

Thanks quite a list. As I posted a bit after this post, most of the articles of outrage are post passage of obamacare. Either the bishops were like most of Congress and passed the bill before reading it, most of these articles are “right of the boom.”

Time to let the BSA and GS just wither on the vine and go away

” A few bishops who have been married raised a few kids may add a perspective the Roman Catholic church is in need of.”

In the context here, about what?

Using artificial contraception is a sin. Always has been. How will a married priesthood change that? (Note that up until the Lambeth Convention of —IIRC— 1935, all Christian denominations taught that, whether they allowed married clergy or not)

Abortion is sinful, whether the clergy is married or not.

And so on.

(And, FYI, a large portion of clergy are married. Permanent Deacons are generally either married or widowers, Anglican Use priests may be married prior to ordination, Eastern Rite priests, also. Priests who were clergy as Protestants are often granted dispensations to be ordained while married, and so on. One of the priest-bloggers who is posted here fairly often, Dwight Longenecker, is married. While not the norm, it’s hardly that rare)

So, seriously, perhaps you can share how generally allowing married men to be ordained as priests would change anything in the context of this thread...

The Catholic Church’s teaching on contraception and abortion has nothing whatsoever to do with the opinions of bishops. Even if bishops’ opinions were to change as a result of being married, this could have no effect on the teaching of the Catholic Church regarding sodomy (contraception) or the killing of babies (abortion).

“Organized religion is corrupt. They fear the government more than they fear the ONE they claim to worship.”

And the worshippers follow along.

While Cardinal Dolan cowtows to the pro-abortion politicians, there are many of us who do not. It has been at least 30 years since I have voted for a politician who favors abortion. It has also been 30 years since I have voted for anybody who even speeks up for a politician who favors abortion. To do so is a serious sin. Cardinal Dolan is like the clergy in the time of St. Thomas More. There are those of us like St. Thomas More who hold the line in spite or the political cost. We don't get mention but we are still there. Let's see who crosses into heaven in the end.

Within the discussion of the thread we have comments alluding to an institutionalized mindset of favoring social justice over moral issues. This type of mindset begins with a young man going through seminary and is reinforced as he progresses through the ranks. I was offering that Paul discussed with Timothy that overseers or elders should be selected who are mature in the faith. Part of being mature in the faith is facing the same challenges and experiences of life as the flock.

But, I agree perhaps I am a bit off topic and clearly the subject is abortion and recognizing those who are opposed to our Christian view of life.

A year and a half later and we’re still waiting for the results of the USCCB’s so-called “inquiry”. I tend to think there is no such inquiry happening.

Perhaps Cardinal Dolan favors the Girl Scout hierarchy because he is queer himself.

Please remember the Commandment about bearing false witness. Asking a question doesn't absolve you because doing so only leads other to join in that false witness.
