My mom is in her senior years and having surgery on her knee today. Any prayers for her would be most appreciated.
She has arthritis. She is 73 and has had some heart trouble in the past, so I am a bit nervous about her having this surgery, which is why I am asking for prayers for her.
Thank you Freepers for reading this, and for your prayers.
Prayers done
Keep Us informed please.
Please pray for my mom. Thank you.
I am sure the surgeon will be guided by God’s hand, but having been through shoulder surgery, my prayers are for her strength through the recovery therapy.
What surgery is she having? I too have (had) bad arthritis in both knees. I am currently going thru recovery from my 2nd total knee replacement. I am a bit younger than your Mom, but with a positive attitude and a lot of physical therapy she will recover and enjoy being painfree!
Thank you mabarker1. Her surgery will be this afternoon.
Well, me too!
Had second TKR a week ago and read FR daily during recovery.
Meds help, CPM helps and iPad helps...
Despite all the healthcare crap going on, SO happy I live in a time where this is routine...for now.
I know she will have no problem with doing the physical therapy. She is looking forward to being able to move around freely again.
Thank you for your reply.
No problem
I got MIL that can’t get surgery done , She is 90.
Congratulations! Did you find the 2nd TKR easier? My first surgeon retired rather than deal with ACA, but as it turned out my 2nd surgeon had a different - better approach to pain management. I was out of the hospital and back home 48 hours after surgery. Good luck with your recovery, and many prayers for Pajamajan’s Mom’s successful surgery today!
My mom said almost the same thing that you did.
She said she was glad that she was able to have this surgery before Obamacare kicks in and tells her she's too old to get it.
Then she said a few choice four letter words- LOL.
Prayers for your Mom. Hope all goes well. - Take the time needed to heal!
I echo your prayer shout out...
Same surgeon did both. First one went well, second one so far, so good.
I HATE hospitals so first one, I got released 24 hours after surgery; this one, 20 hours...
Had to tweak meds both times once home but that took only another 24 hours. At home PT helpful but easily done on my own...
So worth the downtime, yes?
And it seems “everyone” is getting this done these days...!
Your mother will be in my prayers, Pajamajan. Please post an update when it’s convenient for you.
My feelings exactly...
Went to a PT seminar at my ortho’s practice and had a 92 yr old there...
Cripes!
You know it won’t happen for her in a few years.
What did Our Leader say to a woman about care in later years?
Take a pill...?
Oh, I forgot to add. I’m 67 and my knees act up a little bit. I take salmon oil capsules; and I do think those help me keep going. I guess the oil keeps the old knees sort of lubricated. I get the good quality salmon oil capsules; don’t trust some of the fish oil ones at some of the stores.
Knee joint replacement surgery is one of the miracles of modern medicine.
I once did a 94 y.o. (chronologically). She was literally able to dance for another 5 yrs.
Oh, a good forum (world wide) for your g’mom and others looking at replacemt surgery is Bone Smart.com...
Lots of good info...it helped for first surgery.
I agree...definitely worth the down time. I have ZERO issues with my first knee (it’s been about 18 months). It took about 4 months before I “forgot” that I had surgery. I’m ahead of that schedule this time around. Good luck with your recovery!!
