Explaining the Heresy of Catholicism (John MacArthur)
Grace To You ^ | Pastor John MacArthur

Posted on 05/26/2014 4:13:56 PM PDT by Dr. Thorne

Praying to Mary, celebrating the Mass, venerating the Pope—you won’t find those doctrines in the Bible. And yet more than one billion Roman Catholics throughout the world follow such practices in line with the official teaching of the Roman Catholic Church.

With that many Catholics around the globe, it’s likely you know some of them as relatives, friends, neighbors, or co-workers. Find out what they don’t know—the origin and error of Catholic doctrine—so you can help the Catholics you know out of the darkness and into the light.

Catholics pray to Mary, imputing omniscience to her. That is an attribute of God alone. Therefore, they are saying that she is God by their very act of prayer.

More lies. Sad that all this cultist has is lies, but there it is. Lies.

I ask Mary to pray to God for me. She can’t hear prayer? Then I suppose in your view I’m wasting my time. But it’s my time to waste. You sound much like the Westboro crowd. I dectect no compassion or real concern in you. As I said, I’ll pray for you.

The Second Vatican Council taught that all will be saved in the Apokatastastasis, the Final Restoration of All Things http://www.romancatholicism.org/universal-salvation.html

Wow....all I can say is I am stunned at this "revelation".

I have read the Bible cover to cover in several versions.
And one thing I note in my half century is how many men have preached against the Catholic church more than they preach the Good News.Odd that they generally acquire wealth and sorely renown at the same time.

The sad thing on the religion forum sidebar today is Catholics versus Protestants and Protestants versus Catholics.

I understand the pope prayed for or spoke about Christian Unity the other day.

Looks like we’ve got a long way to go.

Neither the Pope or John MacArthur are heretics. They are Christians who approach the faith from entirely different directions. As the persecution reaches our shores, and as we get refined to Gideon’s army, perhaps we’ll understand those things we hold in common.

It doesn’t matter. Better to go to mass, confession, talk with a priest or spend time in prayer than invite sin into our lives through anger.

Nonsense. I have been a Protestant or Evangelical all my life and can’t recall a single time when a minister or pastor preached against Catholicism from the pulpit. Catholics tend to be very thin-skinned.

You aren’t looking hard enough, then.

There were a couple of such threads yesterday. In one, the early Reformers were compared to the Taliban.

It was shameful.

He said Catholics worship Mary (and other humans). This is so blatantly false and the truth is so easily known that it is a lie...a particularly vile lie.

I believe you are wasting your time when you pray to Mary. Why not pray to God directly? WHY NOT? He loves you regardless of what you think of me.

It doesn’t.count if the minister condemned the Catholic faith face to face?

but catholics do pray to dead people right? and if they pray to dead people isn’t it because they believe dead people have the same or similar powers as Jesus Christ?

What I think of you is that you are a fellow Christian, and I welcome your prayers.

“Neither the Pope or John MacArthur are heretics.”

This I do not know, nor do I need to know.

What I know is love. The love I have for you and all my sin-filled brethren. They include my priest, my bishop, my pope and my neighbor. (And myself, because we need to love ourselves, yes?)

“As the persecution reaches our shores, and as we get refined to Gideon’s army, perhaps we’ll understand those things we hold in common.”

If that commonality is the love of God, we will prevail.

Me, too. I just prayed (directly to God - no middleman) that He would send His Holy Spirit upon you so that you would know His truth. There are lots of important things in this world, but salvation is forever. Nothing else is even close.
