The Persian Gulf island has had a Christian presence for over a century
Bahrain, the small island country nestled between Qatar and Saudi Arabia in the Persian Gulf, will gain a Catholic cathedral, a step some see as an increased interest in Christianity in the heart of the Islamic world.
King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa donated land for the project recently the only church he has done so for, Northern Arabia vicar Bishop Camillo Ballin told Real Clear Religion, though Bahrain's cathedral is not the first church that the country's rulers have supported.
"The king has a special appreciation for the Catholic Church," he said.
Our Lady of Arabia will serve the 2.5 million Catholics in the Northern Arabian Peninsula with its $30 million, 2,600-seat cathedral and auxiliary buildings.
The new Catholic cathedral will join a handful of other faith communities in the midst of a predominately Muslim culture.

NAME ONE CHURCH LEADER who thinks that....ONE....JUST ONE!!!
As a Christian you should know that prevarication is heavily discouraged by a Commandment in a certain set of ten..
a personal friend priest who heads a decent sized church about 60 miles away from me.

To get into your catechism the church leaders had to put it there.
Well, we know who the Catholic Church honors these days. Very sad indeed.
Not lying. I personally know a rcc priest who believes this.
Further the popes haven’t been silent on their beliefs muslims can be saved because they worship the same God - a lie.
John Paul II: We Christians joyfully recognize the religious values we have in common with Islam. Today I would like to repeat what I said to young Muslims some years ago in Casablanca: “We believe in the same God, the one God, the living God, the God who created the world and brings his creatures to their perfection” (Insegnamenti, VIII/2, [1985], p. 497).
We don’t believe in the same God. In a prior post this week I outlined several, not all, differences between the false god allah and the Triune God of the Bible.
If your popes can be confused to the point they believe allah and the Almighty God of all, are the same, they certainly can believe other false things about muslims.
Here’s another church leader’s article discusing how the muslims’ devotion to Mary is going to help them be saved:
http://robertaconnor.blogspot.com/2006/11/mary-and-muslims-fulton-j-sheen.html
specifically:
“Because the Muslims have a devotion to Mary, our missionaries should be satisfied merely to expand and to develop that devotion, wit the full realization that Our Blessed Lady will carry the Muslims the rest of the way to her Divine Son.”
I don't see any problem with that statement. Mary guides to her son -- what's the problem?
Tie in the recent comments by Pope Francis relevant to muslims and Mary:

THE POPE ENTRUSTS TO MARY ALL THE CITIZENS OF LEBANON
Vatican City, 26 March 2014 (VIS) Yesterday afternoon Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin sent a message, on behalf of the Holy Father Francis, to the participants in the eighth Islamic-Christian Prayer Meeting, Together around Mary, Our Lady. The meeting, which took place in Beirut, Lebanon, to celebrate the Solemnity of the Annunciation, was organised by the St. Joseph University Alumni Assocation and the College of Our Lady of Jamhour.
The Holy Father shows his joy at seeing Christians and Muslims united in their devotion to the Virgin Mary, and comments that the shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon in Harissa is a blessed place where everyone can go to invoke her. He also encourages Christians and Muslims to work together for peace and for the common good, thus contributing to the full development of the person and the edification of society, and entrusts the participants in the meeting and all the inhabitants of Lebanon to the maternal intercession of the Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace and Protectress of Lebanon.
Referring back to Sheen’s article where he expresses the belief that the muslims devotion to Mary will be what makes Mary carry them on to salvation, Mary being the unifier of Christians and muslims, and we see that Pope Francis is right on the same wavelength.
The RCC church leadership believes that 1) the muslims and catholics worship the same god; 2) although they don’t recognize Jesus as God, the revere Him and adore and venerate Mary to the point they will pray with christians praying to Mary; and 3) because the muslims love and adore Mary so much, and that Mary is the unifier of all the world, which popes regularly consecrate to her over and over, that Mary will be the vehicle that brings salvation to muslims.
As RCC Archbishop Sheen has discussed in his prior article.
Other than that I failed to capitalize “Son”.
Salvation is not through Mary. 1. They cannot be saved denying the Son of Mary. 2. Let’s not forget the fact that allah is not the same god as the true God of the Bible, not a small point. What they think of Mary means nothing towards their salvation.
There’s nothing Mary could possibly do to override these two massive issues.
No one said Salvation is through Mary or depends on what they think of Mary.
She merely helps lead to her Son, like a Sunday School teacher leads the kids to Jesus. What’s the problem?
