Agreed. Didn’t expect an article like that from The Atlantic. Still, the tone seemed to almost be like Seinfeld’s bored and detached “That’s a shame.”
It’s time for citizens and churches to take back America with Judeo-Christian values and quit kowtowing to the “IMMORAL MINORITY”. This wimp mentality has to cease!

As I’ve posted before on threads like this, you can be a church or you can be a liberal social club, but you can’t be both. Jonathan Rauch, however, doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
I believe it was Thomas Jefferson that said that the country would survive only as long as it remained educated. Hence, the current United States Department of (Dis)Education.
I believe this is where we are in so many churches in this country. Wimpy pastors. . . . lukewarm congregations.

Are you kidding, they don't vote pro-abortion and for Obama like the Catholics, they vote almost 80% pro-life and anti-democrat.
They are the most Christian voting group in america.

Though a small, statistically insignificant minority, has used the media, education and the power of government to bully sexual perversion into the mainstream of normalcy, there are still a majority of people who either instinctively or intellectually know it is wrong, even if they are afraid to admit it.
The sexual perversion agenda has had a victory, but now we are going to get a look at what that agenda is all about. The pedophilia aspect of homosexuality will become more exposed, as will the filth aspect of sexual perversion, such as sadomasochism, brutality, and bestiality. Something other than the normal, harmless gay image is going to emerge to assault sensibilities and culture. The false image pushed by the sexual perversion agenda is going to get pushed aside by the desire to let the filth flag fly.
Our children are going to pay the price for our foolishness. Society has pushed out Christian, biblical values for a bag of sub-cultural crap.
Then it ceases to be a Christian church and instead becomes a social club.

Some independent type Christians, that’s the ‘quiver full’ thing I think. Some individuals that belong to groups that don’t have an institutional mandate against it also choose to reject bc within marriage. The only other groups besides the Catholics that prohibit bc within marriage as an institutional mandate are the Amish and old order Mennonites to my understanding. I think at least some Orthodox are supposed to get permission from their their spiritual adviser before using it, I have no idea how often it is asked for or given.

We are in a full blown culture war folks. We didn’t make the rules that we live by, God did, however, it is our job and duty to follow them. We have become a society that obsesses over tolerance and acceptance of everyone - except GOD.
I think two markers that are important happened in 1973. January, 1973, the U.S. legalizes the murder of the unborn child.
October, 1973, we stop Israel from continuing the whipping of Egypt and Syria during Yom-Kippur War.
After that we were hit with the oil embargo and our economy hasn't been the same since.
Nooo, new Earth is your home, once the resurrection of the body happens when Jesus returns.
Apologies for theological nitpicking, as some might say, but that’s one of my pet peeves.
"Evangelical morality" is shadow of what it was just twenty years ago and still not "acceptable".

That ‘freedom and liberty’ that the secular gods have ‘blessed us’ with are evidence of Hollywood, porn industry, music industry having their HQs on this soil...

Sadly, that freedom is celebrated by lots of folks on July 4th with bbqs and fireworks..
