An Indiana state trooper is off the force after offering people he pulled over tips on their faith.
Brian Hamilton, a 14-year veteran of the state' police force, was fired Thursday after a second public complaint that he was preaching while on duty.
Hamilton asked a driver he pulled over if she had been saved and invited her to his church, even giving her directions.
The second infraction came in January, and the motorist filed suit with the American Civil Liberties Union Tuesday.
Ms. Pyle was extremely uncomfortable with these questions, the lawsuit says, adding the plaintiff felt intimidated by the religious interaction in a middle of a traffic stop, where she was given a warning for speeding.
In order to hopefully end these inquiries Ms. Pyle indicated that she did attend a church and that she was saved.
The lawsuit also claims Pyle was approached by someone from Hamiltons congregation shortly afterwards, who told her the trooper had put her on a prayer list.
Hamiltons behavior in January was an apparent violation of a 2014 order demanding he would not question others regarding their religious beliefs nor provide religious pamphlets or similar advertisements while on duty, according to The Herald Bulletin.
The trooper was sued that year by another woman, who said he preached to her on the side of the road and gave her a pamphlet for the First Baptist Church in Cambridge City, Ind.
Indiana State Police said the firing was the result of an internal investigation.
Hamilton has been given 15 days to appeal to get his job back.

"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in Heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." (Matthew 5:11-12)
I’m glad I don’t speed.
He was warned twice before not to preach or testify while on the job. I’m all for spreading the word about Him, but in the right circumstance. What a shame, after 14 years, and he won’t get any retirement ben.
I don’t know that he needed to be preaching on the job. He could just as well have been a muslim trying to recruit in the name of Allah. Because of his position of authority and the position in which they found themselves, the drivers may have felt coerced to give him a “hallelujah” just to be on their way.
Ms. Pyle was extremely uncomfortable with these questions,
Reprobates usually are.
Change his name to Mohammed and you wouldn’t be blessing him too much, right?
So let me get this straight:
In the USA it’s okay for cops to say they’re in fear for their lives and then get away with...
* Breaking into a home without a warrant.
* Shooting innocent bystanders.
* Beating people because they look like someone else.
* Shooting people who are holding cell phones.
* Handing out summary punishment to suspects.
* Seizing private property just for giggles.
* Shooting dogs as a standard operating procedure.
and etc. and NEVER getting fired for it.
But asking people if they know Jesus...yeah, THAT’s too much.
Amazing. In a bad way.
God bless this State Trooper! I will pray for him!
You might want to give him a job. While a resident of this sinful earth, he's got bills to pay.
I wonder if I would have been merely ticketed or totally arrested for telling that cop to get bent and mind his own business?

Well, gee, make it a state religion and then carry on like the islam morons do.
You didn’t answer my question, if officer Mohammed stops you on the road to get you to convert, do you send him your blessings or do you turn him in?
Troopers should be REQUIRED to ask about that. What has happened to America? We used to be a Christian republic. I want my country BACK!
A reasonable response would have been “I render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s and right now, you are Caesar. If you want me to render unto the Lord, you need to clock out first.”
Oh if officer Mo stops you, you’re probably dead. My 16 year old daughter is a police cadet, I’ll be sure to remind her to pray the rosary with everyone she pulls over when she gets her badge in a few years.
Sorry, but we’re supposed to render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and render unto God what is God’s. God is not his employer, God does not make the code of conduct for permissible interactions during a traffic stop. You work for Caesar, you have to follow Caesar’s rules.
My religious beliefs are none of the government’s business. That goes double when being detained by one of its armed agents. Good riddance.
Sorry to disappoint you be we don’t blow people up.
Behead them either.
I’m not a reprobate and yes I would be extremely uncomfortable with these questions.
Don’t preach to me.
Something profound may have occurred in this officer’s life over the last few years. Something helped him decide to more closely embrace the spirit of the Lord. Perhaps he should work on a divinity degree. Although, most folks have bills to pay, dependants, and cannot just shift course that way, becoming buried in new tuition debts.
