Why Are Christian Women Watching 'Fifty Shades Darker'?

The unavoidable truth is that many are becoming desensitized. When the Holy Spirit no longer fills hearts and minds with a passion for purity and holiness, there is a general lack of conviction.

Compromise in this area can be well-illustrated through a story I heard years ago.

Eskimos in the barren North often kill wolves by taking a razor-sharp knife and dipping it in blood. They allow the blood to freeze to the blade. Then they bury the handle of the knife in the snow with the blade exposed. As the wolf begins to lick the blade, his tongue becomes numb and desensitized due to the cold. As he continues, his tongue begins to bleed, and he licks even faster—unaware that he is consuming his own blood and slowly killing himself.

Within time, the Eskimos return and bring the dead animal home. In the same way, the enemy numbs us through compromise. Within time, we, like the wolves, don't realize that we are dying—dying spiritually. The enemy desensitizes us until we are numb to the things of God.

Protestant Descent Into Secularism

And you don't think "Pope" Frannie is headed the same direction?

Of course, not all Protestants are willing to “move with the times”, so to speak; there remains, especially among the more conservative groups, quite a bit of dissent. However, it cannot be denied that many modern day Protestant denominations are falling further into the depths of secularism.

***

It’s not a matter of faith; it’s a matter of size.

Leftists were working on infiltrating all the church bodies in the world. Catholics just held out a little longer because they were larger and so it took more resources to reach critical heresy mass.

But as you can see from the current Pope, the RCC is eagerly embracing secularism too by now. It just took a few decades more.

I have no idea, I haven’t watched either. I read the other day that the female lead had to get drunk to be able to do the “sex scenes”. That sounds pretty telling..

Dear metmom,

I am viet Vet, and my ‘hearing’ is my disability.

How many times have you heard, in your life:

“Why don’t you just get a pair of hearing aids so you can hear like the rest of us?”

Once again, the ‘hearing one’ has just enacted an act of unknown bigotry, in the supposition of ‘how THEY can be like US’.

For someone who has had a hearing loss for a long time, when ‘issued’ hearings aids, at the demand of someone with ‘good ears’, the introduction of every sound, to the clinking of change in the pocket, to the bus shutting off the preset noise limiters (no sound), is quite disturbing, disorienting, and then hearing all the conversations you don’t care to hear, quite annoying. Never mind having something shoved in your ear all day long, that may or may not, work with your cellphone.

I ‘earned’ my hearing disability, defending my country from Communists.

“I suppose I could make a comment about how the concept of Christian submission to one’s husband has been severely reduced in today’s society, and so women are hunting for anything to fulfill that desire, from government to bad books and movies.”

Society has reversed the roles and now women are in their unnatural state. They’ve been told since little girls, they’re equal to men, need to go to college, become a professional and work 60 hrs a week in lieu of raising a family, eat birth control non-stop so you can have limitless sex.

Even after all of that, they are still empty in side. Look to Genesis 3:16 for your answer.

“Protestant Descent Into Secularism”

“And you don’t think “Pope” Frannie is headed the same direction?”

Right on cue. The folks that worship their king in Rome blame the radical protestants.

People frequently say hurtful things to those with disabilities. Usually it’s not intentional.

And then there’s those romance novels, which are just as bad to women as porn is to men. In either case, it’s adultery in the heart and inappropriate for God’s people.

Could be the result of something that's lacking or broken in their marriage. It won't lead to happiness but they use it as a coping mechanism for what ever that is lacking, usually intimacy.

Even the Bible depicts bad things like adultery. If you are serious about avoiding anything that contains depictions of immoral behavior, you’d have to toss out your Bible. Then go live in a cave. But then, our own minds are full of sin and you can’t escape yourself.

I am just like you. Lost my hearing in U S Air Force flying noisy
Air planes.
I share your problems with cochlear implant. It is a little better than regular
Hearing aid.
Civilian doctor did it after VA kept lying. Don’t let VA do implant.
Medicare paid for surgery and VA is in process of covering repairs and devices.
It is major surgery on out patient basis..
Got my surgery in Birmingham Al St Vincent’s Hospital

But also, sins can be forgiven.

John 7:53-8:11

The Woman Caught in Adultery

53 [[They went each to his own house, 8 1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 Early in the morning he came again to the temple. All the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them. 3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst 4 they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. 5 Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?” 6 This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. 7 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. 9 But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. 10 Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.

“The folks that worship their king in Rome blame the radical protestants.”

1) There’s no king in Rome.
2) The pope is not a king.
3) No one worships the pope.
4) These are “mainline” Protestant sects. They are not “radical”.

You made four errors in one sentence of 11 words. That has to be a record.

As an ordained minister who long ago grew appalled to see the consistency with which seemingly sincere and virtuous Christian girls and women preferred Bad Boys to Good Guys, I have a politically-incorrect assessment of the phenomenon:

Women were designed to submit to men, especially in an intimate sexual relationship - period. It is Natural Law, it is instinct, and it is powerful.

Women are therefore drawn to virile, dominant males, and find them sexually alluring. They often mistake ruthless, callous, and even abusive behavior for strength. (Cue the reason that so many so-called Liberated Women of the West give up that liberty to marry a brutal, sexist Muslim male! I have seen this happen.)

Nice Guys do indeed often finish last - in the institutionalized church as well as in society at large.

Humanity is fallen, and women are every bit as sinful as men - it just manifests differently for them.

The whole “Fifty Shades” thing is just more blatant and tactless than it was in the past. Women have been inviting and allowing Bad Boys to seduce them ever since the Fall.

I could name many Good Girls who married a Pew Warmer (my nickname for the Bad Boys who mainly went to church to find and nab a virgin) instead of a more modest and humble Christian man and lived to regret it.

You can all disagree with me; I really at this point could not care less: This is my view from the trenches, and I am sticking to it.

I have no issue with tasteful erotic content. But if someone is going to watch it at least it should be well made.

They could just read the erotic content in the Bible.

My question is how many women that say could never vote for Trump because of “how he treats women” find the Gray character sexy and attractive. I know a few.

Before catholics start throwing stones....

NFP isn’t very popular among the faithful. Only 2 percent of U.S. Catholic women of childbearing age actually use this method, according to the Guttmacher Institute. Meanwhile, according to a 2014 poll by Univision, 79 percent of Catholics around the world support the use of other forms of contraception. Previous polling has reported that 82 percent of American Catholics say birth control is “morally acceptable,” and 98 percent of U.S. Catholic women of childbearing age have used contraception at some point while they’ve been sexually active.
