And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.(Revelation 12:1-4)

There is a special relationship between Genesis 3 and Revelation 12, for both feature a Serpent(Dragon) and a woman, and a special enmity between the woman and the serpent.

In Genesis 3, after the fall, there was an arraignment of the offenders before the bar of Divine justice. Though they had hidden themselves from the Most high, there are shadows of the final judgment to come in the account, for God sought the guilty couple out and summoned them into his presence for questioning.

And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?(Genesis 3:9-11)

The Lord God asked Adam questions, although He already knew the answers? Why? Because the LORD intended to save the fallen man, and wanted to elicit a humble confession from Adam. But Adam refused accountability, blaming his wife and the LORD who gave her.

The LORD then passed from the man to the woman, seeking by questioning to obtain from her some acknowledgment of guilt also. But the woman also refused accountability at that point.

The LORD then turned to address the serpent but there would be no questions this time, seeing the LORD had no intention to save the Devil. Instead a sure and lasting judgment was pronounced upon the serpent.

And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.(Genesis 3:14-15)

“I will put enmity between thee and the woman…”. There is a deeper level of meaning in this brief proto-evangel, but on the surface of it lies a profound truth; though Satan hates all of the human race, He harbors a special hatred for women. Satan successfully seduced the woman and her husband into defecting from God, but in God’s mercy the woman would be specially involved in the salvation.

Salvation would come through the birth of a miracle baby, the ” seed of the woman”. He would enter into the world to break the head of the serpent and to undo the primal curse.

Satan hates women. Consider the Satanic religions, such as Islam. How Muslims are taught to hate and despise women! So also the Satanic religion of secular humanism, and it’s deformed spawn, feminism. Feminism isn’t based upon love for women, it is instead hatred and contempt for all that is unique to women, the role of wife, mother, nurturer.

Abortion which springs out of the nihilism of the secular humanistic worldview, is an unnatural act which kills both the baby, and anything it also slays motherly in the soul of the unfortunate young woman talked into the practice. Behold the fruit of the sixties sexual revolution; in the tattooed, androgynous, haggard, jaded, masculinized young women we see everyday in the streets, not to mention the confused and feminized, and at other times barbaric young men also.

The serpent has always harbored a special enmity for women, seeking to denigrate and demean the beautiful God assigned role of wife, mother, nurturer and help-meet.

In view of the specific identity of the woman as being Israel, we see in this vision an answer to the inveterate problem of anti-semitism. Why is there almost universal Jew hatred? The Serpent hates Israel, has always hated Israel, and will eventually seek to marshal the world’s forces to obliterate Israel.

She (Israel) gave the world the Word of God, and through her came the Messiah. Israel’s existence is a constant reminder of the existence of God. Her birth was a miracle, so also her rebirth in 1948. The Devil would wipe Israel off of the globe if He could. Every census, pogram, holocaust, anti circumcision law, intifada, and Jihad that has occurred over these long centuries has borne testimony to the truth that the Dragon hates the woman.

Thus Israel’s longtime song has been;

In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and he heard me. Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue. What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue? Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper. Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar! My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace. I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.(Psalm 120)

.
This one is true twice!

Biblically, Israel is “The Woman,” and Israel receives 99.9% His wrath.

The woman spoken of in Rev is the restored Church in the last dispensation of time. The child she delivers is the gospel of Jesus Christ.

And the devil lies in wait for the woman to try to destroy her and her child.

The iron rod is symbolism for the word of God.

Rev 12
6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

The Church fled into the west and out of the United States because of persecution and the sentence of death passed on the members of the Church.

17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

The remnant of her seed are all the members of the Church since it was founded in 1830. The devil makes war with those members of Christ's Church that keep the commandments and have a testimony of Jesus Christ.

The Revelation of John is actually pretty simple, John is just describing the vision he was given of actual events that would transpire during the time leading up to the second coming of Christ and the final judgement. It doesn't require a lot of over analyzing.

The Serpent hates Israel, has always hated Israel, and will eventually seek to marshal the world’s forces to obliterate Israel. She (Israel) gave the world the Word of God, and through her came the Messiah.

Another important point about Rachel (Rachel Imenu, "our mother"):

Rachel died giving birth to Benoni on the way to Ephrath, meaning on the way toward fruition. Involving such hard labor that she died, this birth was the only one of the twelve occurring after Jacob was named Israel. Furthermore, the birthright blessing of Joseph continued through Ephraim (meaning fruitfulness, doubled), who was one of the two sons of Joseph born in Egypt.

Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah: chapter 29
Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zevulon, [Dinah], Joseph: chapter 30
Jacob prevails over the sar of Esav, is named Israel, and then meets up with Esav: chapter 32
Benoni named, Benjamin born, and Rachel's soul went out: chapter 35

Just before Benoni's conception and brief appearance, we are reminded that:

9. And God appeared to Jacob again, when he came from Padan-Aram, and blessed him:
10. And God said to him, Your name is Jacob; your name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be your name; and he called his name Israel:
11. And God said to him, I am God Almighty; be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of you, and kings shall come from your loins:

Gen 35

18. And it came to pass, as her soul was departing, for she died, that she called his name Benoni; but his father called him Benjamin:
19. And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Beth-Lehem:
20. And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave; that is the pillar of Rachel's grave to this day:
21. And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar:

Rachel: ewe

eder: flock, herd. The context in which this flock first appeared is when Jacob first met Rachel:

Gen 29

1. Then Jacob went on his journey, and came to the land of the people of the east:
2. And he looked, and saw a well in the field, and, lo, there were three flocks [eder] of sheep lying by it; for from that well they watered the flocks [eder]; and a great stone was upon the well's mouth:
3. And there were all the flocks [eder] gathered [asaf]; and they rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the well's mouth in his place:
4. And Jacob said to them, My brothers, where are your from? And they said, Of Haran are we:
5. And he said to them, Know you Laban the son of Nahor? And they said, We know him:
6. And he said to them, Is he well? And they said, He is well; and, behold, Rachel his daughter comes with the sheep:
7. And he said, Behold, it is yet high day, nor is it time that the cattle should be gathered [asaf] together; water the sheep, and go and feed them:
8. And they said, We can not, until all the flocks [eder] are gathered [asaf] together, and till they roll the stone from the well's mouth; then we will water the sheep:
9. And while he still spoke with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep, for she kept them:
10. And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother:
11. And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept:
12. And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father's brother, and that he was Rebekah's son; and she ran and told her father:

Verse 12 is from the viewpoint of the narrator, so not a direct quote. Jacob was Laban's nephew, but a father's brother, or a mother's brother, is an uncle, a "dod". Dod, uncle, is the same word as beloved, and is the root of the name David.

The first thing Jacob said to Rachel was that he was her beloved.

gathered, asaf:

Gen 30

22. And God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her, and opened her womb:
23. And she conceived, and bore a son; and said, God has taken away [asaf] my reproach:
24. And she called his name Joseph [yosef]; and said, The Lord shall add [yasaf] to me another son:

Asaf and yasaf are interrelated roots.

Rachel ("ewe") is the mother of all the sheep (Rachel Imenu), including the ones who traveled far beyond the Tower of Edar, especially this one:

Micah 5

1. But you, Beth-Lehem Ephratah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall he come forth to me, he who is to be ruler in Israel; and his origin is from ancient time, from days of old:
2. Therefore he will give them up, until the time when she who labors has brought forth; then the remnant of his brothers shall return to the people of Israel:

Micah 4

8. And you, O tower of the flock, the fortress of the daughter of Zion, to you shall it come, the former dominion shall come; the kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem:
9. And why do you cry out aloud? Is there no king in you? Has your counsellor perished that pangs have seized you like a woman in labor:
10. Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in labor; for now shall you go out of the city, and you shall dwell in the field, and you shall go to Babylon; there shall you be rescued; there the Lord shall redeem you from the hand of your enemies:

It's all quite detailed and arranged in order.

11 Cheshvan (יא חשון) = ain chush (אין חוש), there is no chush, no perception.

Beth Lechem, bet lamed.

But Adam refused accountability, blaming his wife and the LORD who gave her.

The answers from Adam and Eve were consistent with what happened. It is speculation to say that they were trying to shift blame.

Another factor that should be considered here is Adam is a figure of Christ (Romans 5:14)and Eve is a figure of the Church (Ephesians 5:31,32). Satan deceived Eve but Adam knew he would die, (1 Timothy 2:14) Is it possible that Adam chose to die with Eve rather than live without her? Is that what Christ did for us.

Also consider 1Corinthians 15:22 "For as in Adam all die." Does that include Eve? Eve was created in Adam before they ate the fruit.
