More accurate to say that the Trinity is a false concept.

how so ?

Luke 3:21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, 22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

Clearly all three forms of the Godhead were there

Do you say this because you dont consider Christ part of the Godhead?

If you want to be more accurate, say that obedience to the commandments is part of faith.

Please clarify Mormon doctrine in this regard... Does "obedience" result from "faith" or does "obedience" lead to "faith" ?

FWIW, I have noticed that what many people call "un-Biblical" teaching really comes under the heading of "things that are different from what my particular sect teaches."

Almost all these things are found in the Bible, yet they are misunderstood and even completely ignored by sectarian Christianity, which long ago lost the gift of Revelation needed to fully understand the things of the Spirit.

Thank you for you answer. I appreciate the time on this. I think that in the end we will just agree to disagree on this, but If you have any questions for me, I would be glad to give them a shot.

FWIW, you would be surprise, perhaps, to find that what you've just said is not nearly enough for many people here. They prefer to scream, argue, belittle, even lie, about my beliefs.

I do not expect you to believe as I do, nor do I think you expect it of me. Yet we can still respectfully disagree.

This is a notion completely lost to certain folks on these threads.

Clearly all three SEPARATE PERSONAGES were there.

Does "obedience" result from "faith" or does "obedience" lead to "faith" ?

Both. You have to have a modicum of faith before you will essay to obey. And if you wish to gain faith regarding any aspect of the Gospel, then exercise a GRAIN of faith, and obey. The truth of it will be made manifest to you.

Consider the "first principles of the Gospel" as stated in our Fourth Article of Faith: "First, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; Second, repentence..."

Elaborate please - do you mean personages as in regard to non divine personages, or three distinct different divine personages

"or that Joseph Smith had a problem keeping his fly zipped"

Were zippers invented back then?

Buttons?

There were three, separate, distinct individuals there: God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost.

ZIPPER
Whitcomb L. Judson loved machines and experimented with many different kinds of gadgets. He invented a number of labor-saving items, including the zipper. It came about because of a friend’s stiff back.
The problem was that his friend could not do up his shoes.  Judson came up with a slide fastener that could be opened or closed with one hand.  This was an absolutely new idea, and in a few weeks Judson had a working model.  On August 29, 1893, he patented his new "hookless fastener."  The earliest zip fasteners were being used in the apparel industry by 1905, but they weren't considered practical until after an improved version was developed by Gideon Sundback, a Swedish scientest working in the United States.  When the B. F. Goodrich Company decided to market galoshes with hookless fasteners, the product became popular.  These new galoshes could be fastened with a single zip of the hand, and soon hookless fasteners came to be called "zippers."  By the 1920s, zippers were widespread use in clothing, luggage, and many other applications

No, but you were allowed multiple buttons until the Zipper Dispensation came along...

I agree, only what the Mormon church attempted to tell me was in the Bible, I didn't see it, nor could they point it out for me. Whenever they couldn't point something out that they claimed was in the bible, that is when they would give me the line about how the bible was written by man, how we can only trust the bible as far as it has been correctly preserved, etc.

Perhaps you could show me some of the following:

-The Trinity is a false concept
-God has a body of flesh and bones
-There are many gods in the sense that "god" is a title indicating inheritance of "all that the Father hath,"
-Jesus, Satan, and all of us are spirit brothers and sisters procreated in a pre-existent spirit life
-and one I had almost forgotten, which is Baptism for the dead.

Each time I consulted with other Mormons on this, they wanted to refer back to the "Book of Mormon" or the "Pearl of Great Price". I would like to see it in the Bible itself

Again, I realize that we will probably agree to disagree on this, but you yourself state that many of these things are in the Bible itself. I would be interested in seeing where.

I know what you mean about the idea of people argueing about what they call "un-biblical" falling under what they actually see as being different from what their "sect" teaches. I myself fall into the denomination of "Independent Baptist". We recently just finished up on a series the pastor called "Why we are what we are". He showed us how, using scripture, how denominiations differ from one another, including how liberalism has crept into some of the other local "Independent Baptist" churches. Some still stick to the Word, while others have allow the ideas of liberal though to color the way they do things. I'm sure that liberalism has crept into some of the Mormon churches also. I'm sure that upsets you, just as it would if I saw another Independent Baptist church fall to liberalism.

I read another thread this morning about some law in India passed about converting, it had degenerated into a debate on Mormonism, now I notice that this thread about FR Protestants is turning into a Mormon debate. What is it with you all. You guys were screaming for your Mormon Only Threads, and from what I saw you were getting them. So why are all these other threads turning into Mormon threads? And BTW, I don't care that they are, but geez, it seems you want it all. Just making an observation:)

Why not go back and look to see who REALLY starts these tiffs?

The fact is that no "Mormon" is allowed to post on any Religion thread--and even some "News" threads--without having his faith attacked.

I invite you to do a little research to see if I'm right.

Oh, and BTW: I was the original poster of the "Hindu" thread.

The Bard is asking good questions. He's asking respectfully. He tells me "sorry, I just don't see it in the Bible," I just don't buy it.

I have no problem with that whatsoever.

As opposed to people like you, Wrigley, who just like to argue, slam, denigrate, belittle, taunt and besmirch.

I am not wanting to start any sort of bashing or belittling of Mormons. As I previously mentioned, I dated a Mormon for a while. Since that time (Back in high school, way too many years ago), I have had no real contact with any Mormons. I know what I have read and what I have been told by others, but I figured that since I had access to some Mormons here, I could find out what was truth and what was not from what I've been previously told. I am seriously courious.

I can tell you're curious, and I don't mind trying to answer your questions.

I'm just a bit tired of being "stalked" by the same band of zealots whose very existence seems to be taken up with excoriating my religious faith.

I don't mind if you disagree, in fact I appreciate it as it forces me to think clearly about what I am saying.
