APA Symposium Debates Whether Pedophilia, Gender-Identity Disorder...Should Remain Mental Illnesses
NARTH ^ | June 12, 2003 | Linda Ames Nicolosi

On May 19th, 2003 in San Francisco, at a symposium hosted by the American Psychiatric Association, several long-recognized categories of mental illnesses were discussed for possible removal from the upcoming edition of the psychiatric manual of mental disorders.

Among the mental illnesses being debated in the symposium at the APA's annual convention were all the paraphilias--which include pedophilia, exhibitionism, fetishism, transvestism, voyeurism, and sadomasochism.

Also being debated was Gender-Identity Disorder, a condition in which a person feels persistent discomfort with his or her biological sex. Gay activists have long claimed that Gender-Identity Disorder should not be assumed to be abnormal when, they say, it is usually an expression of healthy prehomosexuality.

Dr. Robert Spitzer responded to the symposium as a discussant, urging that the paraphilias and gender-identity disorder be retained in the psychiatric manual.

Who's Christopher Lowell?

Re: Harry Potter, a couple of years ago I decided to see what all the fuss was about, plus I have an idea on the back burner to write a childrens' book or two, dealing with - well, I don't want to get into details. I read 3 Potter books. I was really amazed after the first one how badly written they were - shallow, two dimensional, no charcter development at all, no good vs evil (supposedly there is, but it's just different teams), superficial, vain, appealing to the lowest element in the readers, etc.

What to speak of attracting children to nastiness. I actually couldn't finish the 3rd one. Bad content *and* execrable writing.

And if you know anything about the occult, particularly the 19th century theosophists, there are hundreds of sly, winking allusions in the books.

The story about her being a poor single mum waif writing on cafe napkins is preposterous, IMO. Anyone who knows about publishing knows it could NOT have happened the way she tells it.

Someone wanted this generation to experience the occult on friendly terms. That way when the real stuff comes knocking on kids' doors, they'll greet it like an old pal from childhood.

Christopher Lowell is a flaming-gay-oh-so-happy daytime TV interior decorator.

Sort of a grown-up Harry Potter.

Most psychiatric organizations lost all right to claim themsleves to be "credible" long ago. Most have been infiltrated with activists like the gay activists did to the American Psychiatric Association when they caused general disruption of their conventions before the APA caved into their agenda.

Even the pro-homosexual scientist Levay stated that it was clearly gay activism that caused the APA to "normalize" homosexuality in 1973.

Seeing as psychiatry is a pseudo-science to begin with, there's a certain symmetry to the head-shrinkers caving in to anti-scientific thugs.

Hmm, I see. I haven't watched TV in years, and I know very little about 19th century occult. I did detect a lot of astral nastiness, and efforts to attract children to witchcraft and magic, of a particularly vulgar, slightly obscene, selfish, and almost prurient kind.

Did you read any of them? If so, do you remember the part where the children are working in the greenhouse, repotting mandrake plants? The plants they pull up are like little screaming babies, really sickening.

Before I read them, I thought they might be like Narnia books. Worlds apart.

Interesting about how she couldn't have scribbled them on napkins. Now I want to find out about her beliefs and background, what she studied, and anything else she's written.

I read the first one, like you, to see what it was about. Your reviews are right-on.

Her bio seems to have been swept clean. A few years ago some errant ex-husband started clamoring around, but he's disappeared and she's remarried.

And another woman author tried to sue her, saying she had written a series of books exactly like HP just a few years before. I read some of the comparisons and they were practically identical. She's gone now, too, no doubt generously bought off.

Rowling's now the second richest woman in Great Britain.

My experience is that there are two types of Psych majors: those who have a self-suspicion and those seeking easy grades.

I'd suggest we execute all pedophiles, except the Catholic Church has enough staffing problems as it is......
