He looked horrible up there and I do not feel secure about a man who is given the Homeland Security post to protect my safety when he is for the killing of innocent, defenseless Americans.

You might say, "what is 'truth' talking about?' Well this man is a pro-abort and has been defending a woman's "right to choose" to kill her baby as governor of Pennsylvania. Very ironic indeed.

Does he hold that position because of political expediency and to have Chris Matthews gush over him? Or is there some principle behind it?

One is worse than the other but I have not quite figured out which.

I see by your insightful post that you've met people from the Government before. ;^)

What I suspect we have done is, under the impulse of the moment, created a potential serious monster, references to past comical TV series aside.

Too bad Phil Hartmann is no longer with us. I remember fondly the spoof of Frankenstein, Tonto and The Mummy doing Christmas Carols.

Not since the Watergate Bagman testified before Sam Ervin have I seen such rich Runyonesque material from which to construct a satire.

Yup..and guess what? We are going to feed the monster just as I have done in this post. Ridge has no power. Ridge is a joke. So we will give him power and make him no laughing matter.

And so it goes...

Tom Ridge faced his first test as Homeland Security chief--and he failed. The anthrax in the D.C. mail system should have been dealt with quickly and the workers in those facilities ought to have been tested last week like the Senate staffers were. The testing being done now is too late for a few of those workers.

The one I liked the best was Rich Little as Scrooge in The Christmas Carol.

Always detested that SOB.

You know the inside DC stuff. I heard Ridge was a nobody without the power of the purse from the get-go. What the heck was Bush thinking?

Bush has the best team on foreign affairs I have seen in my lifetime. But he has the F team on domestic problems. This is no time for anyone to learn on the job. Thompson and Ridge should be gone tomorrow.

Couldn't agree more. As for Ridge, if we don't believe his dye job, how can we trust him on anthrax?

A hearty welcome to a new member of the "gun culture" -- that group of evil, neighbor-hating, baby-killing, anti-Americans who are nothing more than trigger-happy Rambo wannabes and the scourge of any "enlightened" citzenry.

We're glad to have you aboard!

Annie

It seems to me that President Bush wanted Ridge on his team, and this was a good way to bring him on. I hope he improves quickly.

The position, as I understand it, is one of coordinating with agencies and departments. I don't think Ridge knows all he's allowed to do right now. It looks like he and Pres. Bush will be making it up as they go along.
