Let's hope all terrorists and smugglers meet in Turkey to conduct business..

How many here think that this goes on in other countries too but avoiding detection?

Thanks for the link. I checked each listed country, and Turkey is the only one with a link for "Reported Nuclear Trafficking Incidents."

If geopolitical positioning is a reason, then I'd expect at least as many occasions that should have been reported by Iran.

Thanks again.

Anyone know how much of this stuff it takes to make a bomb?

It depends on the design of the weapon. The simplest types take much more, than the sophisticated types. It also depends on the purity of the weapons grade material. That means the ratio between U235 and U238. U235 is the radioactive portion, and U238 is known as depleted Uranium. Enriching the material, by increasing the ratio of U235 to U238, is a very difficult process, reqiring the gasification, and separation of the two isotopes.

Turkey's state nuclear research authority is now in possession of the material, the agency said.

It goes on all the time in Turkish held northern Cyprus without word one being reported.

Paging Mr. Pericles. Paging Mr. Pericles.

Rebelbase said: I don't know the specifics, but a kilo of this stuff would, in my best judgement, make a dandy little "dirty bomb".

Speaking of Turkey, if Turkey controls the police and has 35,000 troops on the northern occupied Cyprus how did this happen as revealed in the February 2001 East Africa bombing trial testimony of Jamal al Fadl -- an al Qaeda operative in charge of weapons development in Sudan -- uranium used in "dirty bombs" that release lethal radioactive material, had been tested in 1994 by members of the Sudan-based Islamic National Front in the town of Hilat Koko, in Turkish-held northern Cyprus.

Is Turkish Occupied Northern Cyprus a hot spot for Sudanese tourisim? How did these terrorists gain access to Northern Cyprus?

Dog Gone said: This is both encouraging and really bad news all at the same time. Thank goodness Turkey is on our side.

Which Turks? Whose side?

Remember that story on the plutonium in Greece that was buried in a public park and accidentally discovered on the week Colin Powell was visiting Kosovo as well as its link to similar threats from the Chechens in Russia?

It's possible the Turks don't monitor each and every person every minute of every day. A terrorist group of global reach could meet secretly in a village on Turk territory. If they were caught they would be in deep doo-doo.

Which Turks? Whose side?
Good question. So horizontal.

Which Greeks? Whose side?
Which English? Whose side?
Which Americans? Whose side?
Which Chinese? Whose side?
Which Arabs? Whose side?
Which Germans? Whose side?
Which Christians? Whose side?
Which Jews? Whose side?
And the Kicker: Which Afghanis? Whose side?

Calculate the sq kilos of Turkish occupied Northern Cyprus divided by the number of Turkish troops and police and see how small it is. In addition Sudanese "tourists" are a rare sight in Northern Cyprus. The Sudanese Arabs would have stood out like a sore thumb, and just how do you smuggle radioactive material to a heavily militarized island and not be noticed?

Jamal? Yeah Jamal. You can trust what he says.. He was they guy with a book deal wasn't he? I'm buyin it.. Sure I am. Al Qaeda operatives involved in WTC stay mum, but those in charge of weapons development sing like kanaries. Unbelievable. That would have been HUGE news if true. I don't believe it.

Jamal's testimony was introduced as evidence by the US prosecution. It should have been huge news, but you have to ask yourself--why was it not widely reported?
