But don't you think if Bush had made this a priority and twisted some arms, he could have at least gotten it through the Republican controlled House? I'm all for freeping Regula, but if this is not a priority of the White House, nothing will ever happen on it.

How am I supposed to care about this when millions of puppies are being abused?!

Oh, we are in danger of ignoring the puppies! Did the Christian Coalition ever express a badly needed word of concern about abandoned puppies? And what about the kittens? It is so scandalous that Dr. James Dobson's Focus on the Family has said virtually nothing about kitten abuse!

It is a shame beyond measure!

The plan is to take it up in the next session - with a vengence.

The biggest problem is that, in the 1990s, the "soccer moms" proved to be more reliable support than the "religious voters." The pro-life activists out here in San Diego deliberately schemed to get a pro-abort, pro-gay-marriage Democrat elected, merely to show their alleged political power (the pro-life leadership was miffed that their anointed candidate only got 5% in the primary). The local GOP, understanding that pulling out an incumbent was much more difficult than getting someone elected to an open seat, didn't appreciate this, and since then, the pro-life community has been treated with suspicion (mostly because we haven't finished purging ourselves of these idiots after five years).

Well let's see, Poobah. Planned Parenthood spent millions in its effort to defeat George W. Bush. It spent a million or so in its effort to stop Ashcroft. It even maintained an anti-Republican website www.ROEvBUSH.com which it finally pulled after September 11.

And yet, the GOP just allowed $66 million in our tax dollars to go to Planned Parenthood. Sounds like the brain trust at the GOP is "suspicious" of the wrong group.

Look at Bush's family history with population controllers. The Rockefeller Republicans are buddy-buddy with Planned Parenthood -- keeps the black population down, you know.

Excuse me, pal...

The LOCAL Republicans have plenty of reason to be suspicious and distrustful of the LOCAL pro-life contingent.

And, from what I've heard, other LOCAL pro-life groups have pulled this stunt as well.

Stuff like this eventually gets back to the RNC. We are the authors of our own woes on this issue.

Don't toss the baby with the bathwater...if a Repub is pro-life, vote for them. If they're not, get them defeated in the next primary by someone who is.
