On his first day in California, President Bush gave a strong show of support to Bill Simon.

Bill was the first man to greet President Bush as he stepped off Air Force One this morning and joined Bush today at two events in Stockton and two more events in Orange County.

The Associated Press Reports:

At a fund-raiser at an airport hangar here [in Stockton] -- transformed with plants, draperies and formal china into an elegant luncheon venue -- Bush called Simon "the next governor" and "a breath of fresh air" that California desperately needs.

"It's your money and you better have somebody who understands that, that concept, and somebody who will watch the budget," Bush said. "Bill Simon is a proven businessman who can get that done."

I read that the support was actually more like lukewarm. Something about Bush not wanting to get too close to Simon after Simon's insurance company scandal.

I'm sketchy on this, does anyone have details?

Do you mean support for Bush by the people, or support for Simon by Bush? Neither is lukewarm, but the Dem media is trying to make both seem so.
For support from the audience for Bush, check Rush's site. He tuned in for one of the Stockton speeches, and the audience was wildly enthusiastic. Rush said he'd put up some clips on his site.

And as for Bush's support for Simon - it certainly is strong. If Simon had shown up at every stop Bush made, the Simon campaign would have been billed for the entire cost of Bush's trip. I doubt they could afford it.

Thanks for pointing that out!

The liberal media is doing everything it can to make it seem like Bush is distancing himself from Simon, but there is nothing further from the truth. They don't report that Simon greeted Bush at the airport, that the Stockton lunch fundraiser was so successful it had to be moved to a big location, and that this is the FOURTH visit Bush has made for Simon, more than any other candidate in the country.

Go Simon!

Wow! From the reports in the mainstream media, you would have thought that Bush saw Simon and yelled "Run away!!!!"

Yeah you would think that from reading the San Francisco Comicle. Healine says: "Bush stumps for Simon, but from a safe distance." Typical fascist liberal same old crap from that so-called "newspaper".

Yeah any candidate would envy those kinds of crowds and enthusiasm. President Bush is a popular President and that should help Bill Simon. Obviously the media would rather not let people know the President is in fact a strong asset to the Simon campaign. It blows sky high their pet theory that the President only visited California to give Simon a pat on the back. ROFL!

Yeah, in the Orange County Register today the headline on page one says, "Bush Cool to Simon." I about jumped out of my pajamas when I read that. Bush is here in California to stump for Simon and the paper says on the front page, the page for news, that he's cool to Simon.

They might as well print a large black square on the front page and put a headline above that says, "This square is white."

You know, in Russia, especially in the Cold War days everyone knew that Pravda printed mostly lies. But in some ways in this country our "free press" is worse because it touts itself as champions of free speech and the truth while printing only a little bit of truth with a lot of lies, or printing the truth with a lying headline. The Orange County Register used to be a decent paper not so long ago. It appears to be going the way of the LA Times. I am truly appalled.

Well my spirits are rising from this visit. It's been tough to see all those Davis attack ads and then talk to people and that is all they know about Simon. With Bush in town, return shots will soon be fired.

Got get 'em Bill!!!

You have to realize that a newspaper truly interested in being objective most likely would have reported "President Bush joins Republican Simon for Several Fundraisers" or something along those lines. Instead, the headlines include the words "distant" "Cool" "Staggering" or other words to that effect.

No matter how you slice it, the President of the U.S. interrupted his vacation for three (?) separate fundraisers, generating nearly $3 million. You can call that "manure" if you like, but it's gotta smell awfully sweet to the Simon folks.

You're doing an excellent job helping the liberal media weave their web of deceit. Get out there and help get Simon elected or just GET OUT!
