SAN FRANCISCO -- Before he left town Monday, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani gave some advice to GOP gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon on how to handle his recent campaign woes.
"I made mistakes sometimes, and it was hard to get the press off of those mistakes for a while," Giuliani said. "But you move ahead."

When a republican runs for office the campaign is not only against the opponent but also the scum sucking media.

Re#2 The same is true when they are in office, especially in this once great state. For yet a further example of the presstitutes' bias (and what Simon is up against), take the slant here on W's assault on a 'historic' clean air measure:

The sad truth is - Republicans must apologize and grovel for the slightest error because they are generally honest, have a conscious and are gutless. Being a democrat means NEVER having to say you're sorry.
Californians, he said, "really have problems that are bigger than this. You have a budget deficit that is of record, astronomical proportions. You should be asking (Davis) about energy."

People don't like to accept the fact they are being cheated. It is too overwhelming for them followed by a sense of helplessness. While the "sleeze" of celebrities (political or entertainment) draws away the attention from the real issues and covers up the real "crimes that have lurked beneath the surface.

The article said nothing about what Simon said on the issues as usual. All negative, all the time.
When people complain that Simon isn't getting his issues out, point this out please.
"It's the media, stupid!"

Gray Davis, the incumbent, just got his best poll results of the entire campaign.
He was at 48%. [giggle]
Simon can still win this thing.

I doubt he will as the campaign has been run poorly and his credibilty was attacked when allowing them to run with the Touched Up Photos..thus his.."I am a moral and credible man and stand apart from my opponent" defense was broken.

Rosemary Shashoua, a 56-year-old Republican from San Bruno, said she was excited to see Giuliani working on the Simon campaign because "Giuliani got all the graft and corruption out of New York City, and Simon's going to do the same thing in Sacramento."Help remove the Manure from Sacramento , vote for Simon!

You're focusing on the new guy, Simon. Focus on the awful re-elect numbers of the incumbent. He's had four years to prove he's not up to the job.
Will the voters kick him out of office? I don't know. But in a ton of polls they're making noises like they want to.

Saw Giuliani & Simon in Fresno (airport) Sunday night. Took my granddaughter. It was awesome!!! Bill Jones (Secretary of State) was also there as well as Fresno's Mayor Alan Autry (who played Bubba on "In the Heat of the Night"). Bill Jones said it is a matter of the utmost importance that every Republican go and vote for Bill Simon. He said the democrats don't like Davis, either, and they will stay home in droves. So Simon can win IF WE ALL GET OUT THE VOTE!! If we'll all do a little and some of us do a lot we can win this thing and take back our state. For victory & freedom!!!

"Gay" Davis didn't waste his $30 million on you. You fell for the lies hook line and stinker. Simon is not a savvy politician, I'll grant you that, but we don't need another politician leading California. Stop believing Davis' pack of dirty lies about our guy. For God's sake, support Bill Simon. "Somebody save us . . . from Gray Davis!" For victory & freedom!!!

"Giuliani got all the graft and corruption out of New York City, and Simon's going to do the same thing in Sacramento." Well Said!

What were Simon's numbers in that poll? Where is he now?
I read a news story while on the Simon campaign bus Sunday (using my new Danger(tm) HipTop Wireless Internet Connectivity Device + Cellphone) saying Simon was up 41% to 36% among likely voters, a statistic that didn't surprise me at all. I just wonder if that was before or after this stupid apology flap.

What were Simon's numbers in that poll? Where is he now? Which poll are you talking about? Davis is still under 50%, and Simon is still stuck in the 30s. But there are plenty of undecideds, and Dems are not enthused about this election.

Unless you're talking about another 41-36% poll, that was a Public Opinion Strategies poll done for Simon in mid Sep.
