Obama Poll Crash Expands! The Year Of The Center Continues

Boy, this is no way to limp into your party’s convention! I posted earlier (here and here) on a slew of polls showing Obama slipping against McCain. Even more polls are out this evening showing the same trend, an Obama poll slip.  In the first post I noted I predicted Obama would likely limp into his convention down in the polls - seems I was right.

First there is the CBS/NY Times Poll indicating a slip in the last two weeks:

Republican John McCain has cut Democrat Barack Obama’s nationwide lead in half, according to the latest CBS News/New York Times poll. Obama now has the support of 45 percent of registered voters, with John McCain closing in at 42 percent. The margin of error is three points.

Two weeks ago, Obama’s lead over McCain was 45 percent to 39 percent.

Like the CBS News Poll completed earlier this month, each candidate is backed by more than three quarters of voters in his own party, with independents closely divided, narrowly favoring McCain

Emphasis mine.  As I noted back on August 4th Obama is losing the moderate middle of the electorate, which means he will end up losing the election if this trend continues.  This is why McCain is smart to keep his eye on the middle of the electorate instead of worrying about the unpredictable and unreliable far right who have threaten to sit out the election about once a week. That is no place to put faith in voter turnout.

If the Far Right do sit out this election, then that leaves the far left and middle voters as the majority of the votes that will be cast. If McCain can steal the middle voters Obama has no shot at winning the election - whether the far right sit out or not. The threats to sit out because of McCain is moderate on some issues have created their just rewards. McCain has to keep as much of his base as possible, but he cannot do so to the point he loses the moderate middle.

Obama has the opposite problem, since far left liberals make up a much larger portion of the Democrat Base. The GOP base is chock full of moderates, which is why they keep winning the Presidency and only Democrats who run as faux conservatives can challenge them. Obama has gone as far to the middle as he can afford to already, flip flopping on major issues dear to the liberal mindset (e.g., FISA laws updates, Hand Guns, Abortion, etc).

The other poll out is the NBC/WSJ poll:

Do you mean to tell me after the months of the anti-McCain bullshit, and I mean BULLSHIT, you have been dumping on a daily basis here at FR, you now say you might vote for McCain?

What a POSer you are. Nobody should trust a word you say.

Even IF I vote for McCain I am never going to sit here like you and pretenf that he is anything other that a backstabbing RINO creep. Every bit of negativity that man receives from the right, he deserves. In spades.

And that is why I have not given any money to the GOP this year.

any pro-life voter who has ever given money to their local, state or the national GOP

Who the heck gives money to a party? Talk about whoring yourself out.

“Even IF I vote for McCain I am never going to sit here like you and pretenf that he is anything other that a backstabbing RINO creep.”

Huh? What about those PRINCIPLES you have been whining about for months? After all this BULLSHIT about not violating your basic principles, attacking good honest people who said they might have to hold their nose and vote, you now say you yourself might vote for a backstabbing RINO creep anyway?

As I said, POSer, and no one should take anything you say seriously.

“Who the heck gives money to a party? Talk about whoring yourself out.”

I’m going to guess that a lot of pro-life individuals and organizations do so. Are you saying they are whores?

So you DON’T want me to vote for Juan? Listen to what I am saying you gigantic dips**t, IF I vote for Juan, I am NEVER going to stop ragging on that a$$hat for every liberal thing that he has done or will do. I have long said (and a simple search of my posts will tell you this) that with the right VP pick I will vote for him. This is not news. Heck, with a really good VP nod, I’ll send money and work for the campaign.

But you will NEVER catch me singing the RINO’s praises or pretending that he is somehow the second coming of Reagan, unlike yourself and the inane threads that you used to post.

Now, I am done with you. I will not post to you on this thread again. Kindly let it go.

Pretty much. Why would a pro-life organization donate to a party when part of their donation would be used to fund pro-abortion candidates? I always donate to individual candidates. I've never seen the point in donating to a party at large.

Yes, pro-lifers would rather see the man stand on principle and lose than to embrace a baby murderer.

and by by causing him to lose, embrace a baby murderer, tax and spend socialist, weak-in-the-knees apologist, nit picking lawyer.

That's more like cutting off your head to spite your body.

“Kindly let it go.”

Hardly. You’ve spent the last six months crapping on every McCain thread, crapping on anyone who said anything remotely decent about him, crapping on anyone who said they might vote for him so Obama doesn’t win...and now you have the balls to do a 180 and say you will not only vote for him, but contribute and work for his campaign if he only announces a pro-life VP?

What a crock of crap.

You and the rest of the keyboard cowboy, armchair loud mouths who spend their days mucking up this site and making it impossible for reasonable, honest people to have an adult discussion is the reason why this site is turning into a childrens sandbox with a bunch of bullies running around kicking dirt in everyones face.

The site would be better off without the lot of you.

One issue voters have a tendancy to do that.

Amen. My approach has been to consider them to be trolls, like any other troll, and not feed them or acknowledge their existence. Ever. But sadly my approach has failed, and we are becoming overrun with hysterical one-issue nimrods for whom the ultimate threat is to withhold their vote.

I, too, am fed up with them, and for the very same reasons that you have posted throughout this string. I believe that they should seek out more convivial company, because they clearly do not care for the company around here. (* snort *) (** mumble, mumble **) (Keyboard Kommandos . . . poseurs . . . jerks.)

Bob J, my congratulations on an excellent, and if I may say so, sublimely restrained series of posts, stating what has needed to be said for quite some time.

THE BIG QUESTION IS WHAT KIND OF BOUNCE WILL OBAMA WILL GET FROM HIS CONVENTION? SO WILL IT BE THE USUAL KIND OF 5 TO 10% BOUNCE? OR WILL IT BE WHAT JOHN KERRY GOT IN 2004, “THE DEAD CAT BOUNCE”????????????????????

Thanks. There is only one thing I can add, evil triumphs when good men do nothing. There are a lot of good people on FR, but most want to just come her for some lively discussion and maybe learn a few things, if not teach once in a while. But like any schoolyard, the bullies will eventually triumph if the good people let them run roughshod over every discussion.

My point is one must take the totality of the picture into consideration. I can’t name a politician that I have agreed with 100% of the time. To hold out for such a luxury is fantasy.

But I’ll take 75%...maybe 70 in a pinch.

The RNC has a right to life plank in it’s platform. That some pubs are wishy washy or even pro choice doesn’t change the fact that the movement as a whole moves in that direction. If someone is looking for something to be wrong, they’ll always find it.

Exactly what do these jerks mean when the say “far right”?
When I was growing up, there were “far left wackos”, but I never heard “far right” until Reagan came along and scared the lefties to death.

As far as I'm concerned, you're either “far right” or a nonsensical idiot, I.E. Obama the false Messiah.

And I’m telling you that I will not support a pro-abortion ticket or candidate. There are a lot of other things that I dont like about McCain ... things that I will probably end up holding my nose and voting anyway.

But ... pro-abortion is a non-starter.
