So how would that work with all the deadlines various states have with getting on the ballot?

Ike didn’t go through that process, nor did many early 20th century and most 19th century candidates...

The rules have changed since then. Even in the good ol' days, you really needed the cooperation of the establishment to pull it off. (Favorite Sons, Uncommitted slates, etc.)

“So how would that work with all the deadlines various states have with getting on the ballot?”

Say you are oing to run, make sure you can get on the ballots in all 57 states, and go to the convention selling yourself as the alternative.

In other words, get drafted.

It would be the first time in history that a Presidential nominee won by write in.

May I ask you a question? Why don’t you put most of your posts in the news/activism? Because the topics here may not be seen but a lot of people. Could you may be try to ask the mod to put that in news and elections so that can be spread a bit better. Thank you so much :-)

She’s not running. It isn’t going to happen. Let it go.

Good point. That would a great lesson to the American Public on how that works cuz even myself a relative “above average political awareness person”, I would like to have a better idea of how that works.

Sort of modesty, I guess. I don’t consider every thread I post to be earth-shaking.

Don’t ideal conditions have to do, with perhaps a large cast of candidates, a crowded field if you will - none of which particularly standing out.

Primary votes end up split, among various candidates? Some appealing to one group of voters. Others appealing to another. Enough candidates continue to compete, that eventually no numerical winner actually emerges first time through?

At which time, delegates are released from their original candidate?

I bet the GOP could set up a situation with this year’s field, on purpose. Actually.

(my apologies if I’m totally messing up the concept)

Modesty is a good quality :-) But for Sarah we need to make as much noise as we can and make sure as many as people as possible are aware of the "Reconsider" movement. When I go to Hotair...yes, Hotair..after all the hatred I saw there against Sarah before she said she was not running, now you see a LOT of those haters coming around and starting to say that the field is so freaking pathetic that they are wondering if Sarah would not have been better....er...after all.

That's why may be we should try to really alert all the people we can to let them know what we are doing and try to ask them to join.

But thank you so much for all you do, 2ndDivisionVet. I hope you are ok :-)

I turned 18 a long time ago and you’re not my mother, so I’ll “get over it” when I want to.

St this point I think that would be a bad move for Republicans. I certainly think that Mr. Cain would do well to have Sarah Palin in his cabinet, particularly in the energy field. If she stepped in at this point, she would hurt Herman Cain the most, and she likes Herman Cain.

The California presidential primary is June 5. I vote by mail. If I don’t see a substantial improvement by one or more of the declared field between now and late May/early June, I’m writing her in, whether she reconsiders or not. These guys need to start running to win this thing, not to be the poor sod giving the concession speech.

I’ve been better, but I’m thankful to live in a country where we can discuss issues, work towards getting our candidates elected and vote. Many people in other countries don’t have that.

Oh...poor Herman Cain. That would be really sad to lose such a knowledgeable and experienced candidate, right? /s.
