A big win in a big blue state there are few things that make sweeter music for the fractured Republican Party these days.
But many political observers say there is even more to what happened tonight than that. Last year, Chris Christie was elected chairman of the Republican Governors Association and he officially takes over that post in Arizona in 15 days. Its a position with a high national profile, money to spread around and a bully pulpit.
So, in way, Christies power just doubled.
Friends of Christie and people who have watched him in action the past year say that from now on Super Gov. will be urging his party to do what he says, and do as he does: Win.
He will also have a lofty place from which to wage a run for the White House....

Talk about setting the bar low.
Do not make that assumption.
Rather than dismissing Christie as an also-ran and presuming that Cruz will just blow past him, we should pro-actively support Cruz and position him.
Christie is an excellent debater and very personable.
Cruz is far superior to Santorum as a conservative champion, but Christie is a better campaigner than Romney.
Many people on FR assumed that weak candidates like McCain and Romney would never prevail in the primary.
Don't let that same attitude saddle us with Christie.
He has no power outside New Jersey, period. Wishful thinking by the same people who pushed Romney.
Two laps around chubby is going to be an olympic event.
Christie is a conservative’s nightmare. He will help a lot of Dems get elected
Read this. Be very wary.

The same RNC that gave us Rinos MeCain & Romney will now try to force Chubby on the T.E.A. Party!
Good Luck w/ Dat!
Lucy’s getting the football ready.
In a choice between Hillary and Christie, they will choose the real deal, Hillary. What is so hard to understand about that?
It’s not a big win in a blue state when the GOP runs to the left of Dems.
Bacteria in a virus in a dog’s stool would be better.
Where do the Republicans find idiots like this?
The problem last time was that we couldn't unite behind a single conservative. We all knew that was the problem, but we couldn't avoid it, because there was no clear frontrunner.
This time, we have a frontrunner. Cruz' only competition is Paul. But I think Cruz will prevail over him fairly easily.
Another difference this time is that the Tea Party/Collaborator battle lines are drawn more clearly than at any time in my life.
The only thing we have to fear is Christie's money. But this time, the RINO money is surmountable. Cruz will receive an unprecedented amount of small, grassroots donations.
Your 2016 ticket.....half great, half not so good.
It will extremely difficult to erase the persona created by a thousand articles and video’s by the MSM. In this age of TV politics, perception trounces facts, unfortunately.
Much better ticket would be Cruz/Walker.
The fix was in for Romney, and we know how that turned out.
The eGOP needs to be starved of any income! Send any contributions directly to the candidates!
I disagree that Romney was a weak campaigner ... he was very active at trashing conservatives. Trashing 0bama? Not so much ...
I completely agree that we should pro-actively support Ted Cruz. He is a good man, a good Senator, can be a good President.
“Two laps around chubby is going to be an olympic event.”
Isn’t that the truth...I tried to get around to Christie’s good side but I ran out of gas.
The Democrats could have taken down Christie if they really wanted to.
They threw a sacrificial lamb out there for token opposition.
They want fat boy to succeed, all the way up to 2016.
