Poll: Romney the frontrunner in 2016?
CNN's Political Ticker ^ | June 19, 2014 | Paul Steinhauser, political editor

He's said over and over that he won't run for the White House a third time, but a new poll indicates that if Mitt Romney changed his mind and made another bid for president, he'd be the frontrunner among Republicans in the first-in-the-nation primary state of New Hampshire.

According to the Suffolk University/Boston Herald survey, which was released Thursday, 24% of Granite State Republicans and independents who lean towards the GOP say that Romney would be their first choice for their party's presidential nomination.

Among the potential 2016 GOP contenders, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was a distant second, at 9%, with Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky at 8%, and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 7%.

While the survey may make headlines, it's important to remember that Romney's very well known in New Hampshire. He owns a vacation home in the state, has often appeared at GOP events in New Hampshire, and was governor of neighboring Massachusetts. Romney easily won the 2012 Republican primary, but lost the state by six percentage points to President Barack Obama in the general election....

Ok, thanks for the clarification, brother.

Romney or Jeb are out for me. I will not support anyone voting for Amnesty in any form.

RE :”Impy, out of curiosity, what did you not like about Santorum? He was my choice too, being a former Senator from my State. I’ve always thought him to be a pretty decent, straight-up guy.”

Well problem #1 was he got booted out of office.
If you want a Democrat as POTUS (or a McCain/Jeb/Christie as a candidate) then putting someone up who couldn't get re-elected is the way about it.
(Dems are trying to knock off Scott Walker now)

Then he went to FNC as a paid talker which is a sure sign of not being serious.

Then as I recall he was a big government spender under GWB, one could argue that PA voters wanted that, but again he got booted out office so that's zero.

Lastly in his 2012 primary campaign his big issue was the birth control mandate. That was a sure way to obscurity.

If they knock off Scott Walker this year then the next in line would be Perry who at least is no failure.(I definitely would pick Perry over Jeb)

Rand Paul is a interesting guy to listen to and he made some great augments on the current Iraq mess last night on Hannity, but he has no record or accomplishments and that means its a free ticket to Jeb or Fatso, not that I want to support a ??? anyway, and Rand is a ????.

“I definitely would pick Perry over Jeb.”

1,000 times, YES!!!

I’ve said all along, Romney screwed up by becoming gov. here. If he was serious about being POTUS, should have run from MI. There’s a taint associated with having “MA” next to your name. Look at the geniuses on here that have called me “RINO”, “Yank”, “Yankee”, etc. based on my screen name.

So? SO? Abraham Lincoln was a failed candidate too.

I learned some with the 2012 fiasco GOP race, as painful as it was.

??? candidates can be pretty popular around here, Herman Cain comes to mind. They look attractive because they are the devil you don’t know.(no Herman is not evil, its figure of speech.) Then they blow up.

Next are the failures, the Newts and the Santurums run out of office.

Last are the Bachman’s, made a career talking as small house member, lots of fun to listen to, but never really accomplished anything relative to a resume for POTUS. Now she gave up her House seat race fearing defeat.

All these types are fast tickets to Romney/McCain/Jeb/Christie then another Obama.

To be fair to anyone who supported them, all the other options were bad so what the heck/

I could be wrong and Rick may pull a few more boners,
but it looks like he learned from his disastrous run and is learning how to communicate, you can see him flying to NY and CA taunting the libs in power there by luring their businesses to Texas, then humiliating them on camera about it.

It might be the classic Rocky 3 movie turn around.

Then again he might blow up himself again(he claims he just had back surgery prior to some of those debates explaining the mind-freezes on cam)

Hope so. I think Perry’s a decent guy too. American through and through.

The best candidate for the GOP is Mike Pence.

Getting back to “His Rickness”: if the GOP decides to go the “(sub)urban gay cowboy/chaps/Vasoline” route, he’s straight out of casting central.

Yeah...leftover, found-in-between-the-couch-cushions pizza, with just the right amount of lint on it. Served at room temperature, naturally.

“Obama ONLY won because of Willard the Rat Romney
attacking the Palin family in 2008 through surrogates,
and then attacking conservatives in 2012.”

Nope, Obama won when Wall Street collapsed and the voters decided to throw the republicans (including McCain and Palin) to the floor.

For proof, I put forward the nationwide butt kicking we got in the races for house, senate, governorships, state legislatures and for dog catcher.

Santorum got beat in a blue state in a democrat wave year 2006.

And in 2014 a lot of previously formidible democrats are going to beat in a GOP wave year.

Specifically, Mark Pryor, Landreiu and Kay Hagan are going down.

Bachmann consistently underperformed in her Republican district. She ran several points behind Romney, nearly losing in what was his best district in the state. Ran behind the 2010 ticket for Governor and McCain in 2008 as well. That’s never something you want to see.

Perry, I’m no great fan (I was VERY hard on him in 2012, his campaign was a disaster eclipsed only by Newt’s) but compared to these others he’s more conservative and electable than most of them. He could easily foul up again but he’s the only 2012 candidate I see with a viable path. He needs to leave office throwing punches with regards to the border situation.

I’m hoping Walker beats this nonsense. Pence is a possible contender, flying under the radar right now.

And its way to early to be running the 2016 race locking in on candidates.

By this time 2010 we might have guessed that Romney to it, but the conventional wisdom by many here was it 2012 Sarah vs Obama, and 2006 it was ?? versus Hillary.

I am just saying to watch Rick Perry and see which direction he goes.

Irregardless of the bad climate or his opponent’s famous daddy , the margin was inexcusable, no incumbent Republican Senator has lost worse since, gee I don’t even know. Even hapless appointed and never elected Cali Republican John Seymour only lost to DiFi by 16 points. Let’s see, here we are, Glenn Beall Jr. of Maryland lost by a slightly margin margin in 1976.

“in 2014 a lot of previously formidible democrats are going to beat in a GOP wave year.”

Indeed, I sure hope so at least, and none of them will ever be President.
