“It sure as hell is NOT about the skills set, it’s all about the money it costs. Money that they skim for their own damn pocket. I don’t begrudge them a million or a billion in the bank but when they cry to Congress and lie and say there isn’t anyone stateside who can do the work and then they hire 2-3 employees (who underperform but are cheaper by the dozen) to do the same job, they are p!ssing on my shoes. And they don’t just do this at places like HP, they do this to my whole industry. “

+1.

Actually, a lot more than +1.

Even Obama is more qualified than Carly to lead. Poor hp though, looks like Meg is carving it up for easier sale.

“But there were some particular jobs where we needed particular sets of skills, where we were growing a particular business.”

Exactly -- and quite different from what Disney is doing. Disney has perfectly good American workers whoa re doing the jobs, but they want foreigners because they're cheaper, and they're hiring H-1B people to fill jobs that are already filled -- then forcing the current jobholders to train their replacements. (I wouldn't do it, BTW -- I'd quit first.)

When you have specific jobs that require specific skills and you cannot find those people, that is a legitimate use of H-1B. That is a very limited use, and I suspect that there is way too much use that comes closer to the Disney way.

Walt would never allow this at his company, BTW. The Disney family needs to regain control.

Why is anyone wasting any time with Fiorina? She’s got about as much chance of winning the nomination as I do. Worse, she hired H1Bs to replace Americans, she got fired from HP. What a loser.

Even that is bull shiite.

Let me fix that statement: “But there were some particular jobs where we needed particular sets of skills and we didn't want to pay market salary rates, where we were growing a particular business.”

Good VP candidate?

No. She brings nothing to the ticket.

That is the bottom line of it.

It’s not always about salary. Usually, but not always. Sometimes, it really is about specific skills.

Immigration doesn’t bother me. Bringing in immigrant workers when necessary doesn’t bother me. Bringing in foreigners to do jobs Americans can do, will do, and are doing, just to save money, bothers me.
