Trump's Endorsement of Sarah Palin Proves He Isn't Serious about the Presidency
The Huffington Post's Entertainment The Blog ^ | July 31, 2015 | Geoffrey Dunn, Author and filmmaker

Donald Trump is many things -- a demagogue and a pompous blowhard, a braggart and a race baiter -- but in the end, he's nobody's fool, except perhaps his own. Thus, his recent lauding of Sarah Palin and his hiring of her former Chief of Staff reveal that Trump's campaign for the presidency is, ultimately, more of a circus act than it is a serious endeavor for the White House. If Trump were really serious, he'd be keeping the quitter governor at bay.

Trump and Palin have many things in common--and Palin has long been enamored of the Trump family's gawdy wealth and garish celebrity--but what they share in terms of American national politics are elevated "unfavorable" ratings (even within the Republican Party) and, as a result, a hard, impenetrable ceiling to their national political ambitions. Trump is polling extremely poorly among women--both Democrats and Republicans alike--with unfavorable ratings above the 60 percentile a year before the election. Any bookie will tell you that you simply cannot get around numbers like that. Palin knew it, and he knows it, too.

Like the late Huey Long and Joe McCarthy, both Trump and Palin have tapped into the deep anger and fear of a small but volatile slice of the American body politic. It's a real and complicated demographic, largely misunderstood by the American media, who are far too isolated to either grasp or understand this troubling swath of the American electorate. Both Trump and Palin have uttered racialized attacks on Obama and have tapped into deep-seated strains of intolerance in their comments on immigration and other significant issues facing this country. Palin treaded into even uglier cesspools of racism this week when she compared the Confederate flag to the Planned Parenthood logo. This woman knows no shame....

No. I did not think you wrote the article.
However your posting it without negative comment seems to support it. If I’m mistaken ... Sorry.

I am an Sarah supporter and I pray for her voice to be heard and followed. Sarah is an excellent communicator, with common sense ideas and follow through.

America is desperately in need of this. Pray for America

If anything, onyx and I were the leaders of the Sarah Palin contingent here, unless my Alzheimer’s has kicked in.

Got news for you. Trump isn’t going to want to be anyone’s VP, especially Scott Walker’s. This guy has been around the block a few times and has amassed the fortune he has by being large and in charge. He’s not going to be anybod’s #2. It’s his game to win or lose at this point. He’s at the stage of his life where he’s ticked off the direction things are going and does t want to see it rui Ed for future generations. Like him or not, warts and all, he may be the last shot we have at this experiment we call America (as we know it). Sad to say, but I’m afraid true. The political class has screwed the pooch for the rest of us, IMO.

Don’t ever take my posting an article without comments as my stamp of approval. Sometimes I’m in the middle of something else, haven’t fully formed my thoughts or am stunned by the stupidity or want the article to speak to everyone on it’s own.

EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!

Hillary Clinton isn’t going to run for POTUS, she just wants to spend most of the Clinton Foundation monies so Bill can’t have so many ‘sex’ vacations.....

The rest of the story will be on your local news at 6:00 p.m.

Maybe the Silent Majority is sick unto death the lies and distortions and disgusting dog piling the slimes in the media have heaped on the Palins for 15 years, non stop. Maybe that media has cancelled their ticket to credibility and are on the mud slide into the garbage truck of history.

Forget about Jeb Bush for any part of US government. When history is written, especially the history of the US, I believe it will record that the Bush family with their ties to the English throne and Saudi oil Sheiks were not the dead fast US servants envisioned by the Founders. Give credit to Bush1 for his WWII service and actions but as for me such was of no more significance than my infantry brother being killed in close action on Okinawa. Having said this I believe if Trump were to be elected POTUSA his appointments for office could be surprising if not amazing and perhaps not to the electorates desires. In any case his first civil service action should be to put Kokenen in prison with forfeiture of any pension as a traitor to the interests of the US.

I only see the silly articles from the Huffington Post, on Free Republic threads; so I am hardly an authority on the subject. But it really seems that most of them have a rather striking trait in common. The writer is unable to support a logical position; rather, the writer seems to rely largely on being able to link the subject or issue, being attacked, to someone or some thing that the writer does not like. The reader is apparently assumed to automatically dislike, whomever or whatever the writer dislikes.

That is not an argument; nor is it even arguably a rational approach to either the new subject or the previous disliked subject.

Endorse her for what?

She's not running for anything and hasn't been for years.

And why listen to anybody who thinks she's been on a "relentless quest for power"?

OK I found it:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2066739/posts

I’ve supported Sarah on this board, since 8/23/2008.

McCain picked her as his Vice Presidential candidate on (I believe) 8/28/2008.

So I was actually five days ahead of McCain.

Just saying. :D

It is not just the silent majority or even conservatives. We have a friend who is a liberal but is also a vet with SRI (service related injury). He goes to the VA for treatment of the SRI but usually goes to a regular doctor for everything else.

He has just been informed that because he got a prescription painkiller from the VA after his surgery (30 days worth and that was over a year ago) he may not get a prescription for pain from his regular doctor for an unrelated injury. He has to be seen by the VA for which he will have to pay out of pocket.

He no longer thinks Obamacare is such a great idea

While a large portion of the country doesn’t like or trust Palin, a solid portion of the conservative base does, and Trump needs that base to win the primary. I may not like the guy but I’m not buying this headline.
