Trump Effect: Is Erick Erickson Throwing Down Gauntlet to Rush Limbaugh?
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | August 13, 2015 | C. Edmund Wright

Posted on 08/13/2015 7:32:31 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Did we just see Erick Erickson’s Red State draw a red line in the sand in front of Rush Limbaugh? And if so, is it another aspect of the booming dynamic known as “the Trump effect?”

That very case can be made – as Erickson used Red State’s daily email blast lead story from Dan McLaughlin on Wednesday to fire shots across the bow of all talk radio hosts and other pundits who are in any way supporting Donald Trump. And while Erickson does not have the by-line on this indictment, it is right in line with his recent dis-invitation of Trump to speak at the recent Red State gathering. Moreover, while Erickson might not agree with every single word on the Red State site, there is no way a main feature leads the daily blast without his blessing.

The lead column was provocatively titled “Laura Ingraham Gets Punked by Donald Trump,” but before the piece ever gets around to actually mentioning Ingraham, the gauntlet is thrown down on all talkers with the bombastic warning that “all those in a position of leadership…. cable and talk radio hosts, pundits, columnists, bloggers – (who are) actively encouraging the Trump phenomenon, you are neither a conservative nor a Republican anymore and should not expect anyone to take you seriously again.”(continued)

Are we supposed to care about this?

He was being interviewed today by Mike Gallgher, the “happy worrier. “ My first time ever hearing him talk before, but I thought he came across as a jerk.

Add to this article the fact that last week Trump supporters were overloading Rush’s email server with calls to “excoriate” (a polite term) Erickson for dis-inviting Trump to the conference.

Rush said no, he doesn’t get involved in stuff other media people say.

Keep poking the bear Erick.

“all those in a position of leadership…. cable and talk radio hosts, pundits, columnists, bloggers – (who are) actively encouraging the Trump phenomenon, you are neither a conservative nor a Republican anymore and should not expect anyone to take you seriously AGAIN.”

AGAIN? When have they EVER taken the base seriously? Anyway, this is our REVENGE on them and we are LOVING IT!

Sundance at Conservative Treehouse, for my dough, is putting forth the most inciteful, compelling analysis of this election. Best to read his multi part series there. But for Trump, the other 16 are rumbling toward the 99 winner-take-all Florida primary where Bush would have been the forgone victor. The Chamber of Commerce, through the Citizens United decision, raises money so that “splitters” can enter the race to siphon votes from threats to Bush, ultimately. Along comes Trump, outside of the GOPe system, tapping into the deep unhappiness of Conservatives. Only he, or the one he supports were he to withdraw, can defeat the GOPe.

Watch occasional morph into never again.

Levin had Trump on his show this evening. I eschew any embracing of the color red to describe conservatives. RedState can go suck an egg.

Erickson is a gnat on the ass of Limbaugh’s the lion. Does he seriously believe his puny site — which gets less than half the monthly traffic of FR — can take on Rush?

This is the true irony. Conservatives desperately want to defeat the GOP through Trump. Good post.

Interesting article. Since the author is a Trump basher here on Free Republic, not much different than Erickson. When did his opinion change?

Breitbart is one of the few Trump friendly websites left (along with Free Republic and Gateway pundit).

Remember last Monday Rush said that he would not help in any way any one who wanted to disgrace themselves, that it has always been his policy to let them do that them selves...guess this is what he meant...

It sounds like Erickson is trying to make himself appear far more important than he is and trying to ingratiate himself with the GOP leaders by either making Rush and the others do what the GOP guys want, or, barring that, gain more clout for himself.
