GOP leaders: Trump sets us back on race
The Politico ^ | September 23, 2015 | Ben Schreckinger

In South Carolina, he confronts a changing Republican Party trying to bury its past.

Donald Trump is campaigning Wednesday in a South Carolina where the Republican Party has been turning the page on a divisive racial past: The state boasts the first black Republican U.S. senator elected to Congress from the south in over a century, an Indian-American Republican governor, and a Republican-controlled legislature that voted in July to remove a Confederate flag from the grounds of its State House.

So much for all that.

As Trump prepared to attend events with Sen. Tim Scott and the state’s African American Chamber of Commerce, national Republican leaders are saying his candidacy is pushing the party backwards on matters of race and inclusiveness.

“Donald Trump in and of himself represents a tremendous setback for anybody who’s trying to expand the party in an inclusive direction,” said Ari Fleischer, a former White House press secretary to George W. Bush and the co-author of a 2013 Republican National Committee report dissecting 2012 Republican losses that recommended making minority outreach a pillar of the party’s future....

Anyone who graduated high school prior to 1985 knows that the Democrats in South Carolina were the racists, for the most part.

“us”. “Us” is you. It isn’t America. It’s your special class of loser-grifters most Americans want no part of. Run Jebby Bush and see how you do.

These outrageous lies makes me want to hurl. Trump had a poll with him that showed he would get 25% of the black vote in the general election. What percentage did McCain and Romney receive? These people are fools.

So, lets see... he’s polling 25% of the black vote in general election matchups and being well received at the African American Chamber of Commerce WITHOUT changing his message.

Yeah, he’s definitely undoing the progress that Ari Fleischer has made with ‘inclusiveness’. Definitely gotta stop that.

These people live on another planet.

Ari, I think Your boss made the GOP poisonous

Lost the House and Senate

Let the Democrats get all the voters with no border wall.

Did nothing to stop the Subprime mess and we got what?

Obama

He was so bad Obama can convince the problems in the world were caused by Bush not Trump

Ari , see Fox's Polls

GOP Leadership in Congress is killing the GOP , not TRUMP

If anyone want to know who truly set this nation back YEARS on the race question, I will provide the name: Barack Hussein Obama. Him and his racist henchmen.

He ought to be horsewhipped for this affront against America alone. I hope I still have the freedom to express this opinion.

He and Senator Scott seemed to clique very well - as he does with Dr. Carson. I don’t think there is a racist bone in his body, but, I wouldn’t lay odds on those who write such trash.

The GOP in any form or fashion will not get any black votes that matter to anything. Blacks vote because they vote race and only race. The GOP could win if they got the majority of the white vote. Pandering to the minority only wastes precious time.

The GOP has been playing nicey-nicey to blacks for 3 decades. Result? 95% of blacks voted for BROTHER Obama.

It is past time for this country to categorize and pander to people based on race. Get rid of affirmative action based on race. It should not be based even on income levels. There is plenty of opportunity to start at the bottom and work your way up. Like many of us did.

Trump has said NOTHING against blacks, Hispanics, orientals or native Indians. He is for equal opportunity based on merit.

Wow.

They’re getting desperate enough to throw the race card out there.

Truly, if they don’t stop this there will be no more GOP.

These “leaders” fail to understand how sick to death we are of them. When they wag their fingers and make another pronouncement, it just makes us angrier.

Funny, that black Senator hosted Trumps townhall tonight.

ROTFL

Trump polls higher with black people than any other republican in years.

They did seem to get along well. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an endorsement coming Trump’s way from Scott. I was impressed with that whole forum. It was quite substantive too. He endorsed right to work and talked about either ‘cutting way down or completely eliminating’ the EPA. Good stuff.

Name calling tells me Trump is winning the argument.

Why won’t they debate him on the issues? Because the progressives(democrat and republican) will lose.

Name calling is all they have.
