Roger Stone: Trump Must Undertake 'Trench Warfare' to Beat Cruz

After Donald Trump's drubbing in Wisconsin, the Republican front-runner needs to move into "the trench warfare phase of the campaign," political consultant Roger Stone told Newsmax TV on Wednesday.

"You need to recruit to your side people who know the rules, who know the bodies, who know the leaders, who know the process," Stone told "The Steve Malzberg Show" in an interview. "It's the pain of inexperience, but enthusiastic first-timers and advance men are not going to win this nomination.

"Trump needs help," he added. "First-rate help is available to him."

Stone, who described himself as "merely a dedicated Trump supporter," said that the developer was beaten in the Badger State by the Republican establishment....

Roger Stone: Trump Must Undertake 'Trench Warfare' to Beat Cruz

Just now figuring that out? I figured it out a year or so ago when Jim Robinson banned anyone from talking about Cruz's citizenship situation.

Cruz is a canny operator. He has built a very impressive ground game, and it is even more impressive because it has been beneath the radar for so long.

Cruz was never going to be a Pushover. I've known for about a year that it would very likely come down to Cruz v Trump.

Good analysis. I read somewhere, after Trump won SC someone in the campaign told Trump it would over in a month, and that’s why he didn’t invest. If true, whoever told him that should be fired, and Trump should know you always need a Plan B.

Trump just needs to stick to the issues and actually listen to conservative experts on the issues.

Cruz is finished. He will never make it. He has 3 things looming large in his political demise. 1. He is a huge liar of Trade. 2. He is a huge liar to his wife and 3. he is in a kooky religious cult called the Seven Mountain Dominionist anointed as”King” to take money from those not in the cult and distribute to cult members. ( research it!!) He is finished. He will thrown away like old underware by the Rino Neo Cons in Cleveland. They will airdrop Paul Ryno and the war stars.

The establishment is playing us like a fiddle. Cruz is not part of the establishment and neither is trump. They have half of us trashing trump and the others trashing cruz. And kasich taking just enough delagates off the table to insure a contested election.

About as likely as George Will starting at second for the Nats.

Cruz was in a 9 person Senate race where the front runner was considered an overwhelming favorite.

His strategy: work it to a two man race and once it got down to two, flank the frontrunner.

It worked.

Dewhurst thought he was a lock, never bothered to campaign at the retail level. Cruz and the other 7 showed up at every county party and tea party event for a year. Once it got to a two man runoff, Cruz and his camp had connections with every County and Tea Party in the State. It’s how he won.

Now look. It’s a two man race. Cruz has spent a full year running the real race, with the local party members who’ll will pick the delegates who will decide the nomination. Trump hasn’t, shades of Dewhurst.

Instead. Trump, like Dewhurst did, is depending on negative slights against “Lyin’ Ted” to do the job for him. It didn’t work then, either.

This national election is playing out exactly as the 2012 Senate election did. I expect similar results.

If Cruz is not establishment, why is the establishment endorsing him?

The most credible answer is that Cruz is literally a witless tool, completely unaware that he’s probably just being set up to be a fall guy.

GOP Inc just wants him to keep going to deny Trump 1237 so they can reward Ted by passing him over at the convention and nominating someone else to lose to Hillary.

They’re deplorable. Once Trump is out of the picture (later this year, in four years or in eight years) I’m not self associating with the Republican party.

I genuinely think Cruz flatters himself so much as to be unaware of this is truly alarming.

Stone is the best political operative I have ever seen.

A brilliant guy who is always calculating his moves far in advance.

IMO he is smarter than either Cruz or Trump.

I'm certain he still works for Trump! Just as I'm certain Cruz controls his PACs. It's politics..it is what it is.

If Cruz is not establishment, why is the establishment endorsing him?

To try to stop Trump. If Cruz was ahead they would be helping Trump. The republican leadership hates Cruz with a passion because he won't play ball with the insiders. However they fear Trump might be even more dangerous if they can't negotiate a deal with him.

If they can destroy both of them and bring in one of the establishments insiders (even Hillary) they can go back to business as usual.

My first choice is Cruz (constitutionalist), second is Trump (leadership skills).

There are many who are choosing (trump or Cruz) first, second stay home (Hillary). That is exactly the establishments plan.

“Trump needs help,” he added. “First-rate help is available to him.”
******************************
Roger Stone is lobbying to get a big paycheck from Trump.

His comment that Trump has to engage in trench warfare is a month or two late, as that is all Trump does every time he opens his mouth and spouts slime against Cruz and others.
