CAIR Goes After Dennis Prager

The Council on American Islamic Relations is really stepping up the volume of their attacks on critics of Islam—in particular, critics of their new Congressbrother Keith Ellison. Now they’re trying to get talk show host Dennis Prager fired from the United States Holocaust Memorial Council: Islamic group wants Ellison critic removed from Holocaust council. (Hat tip: LGF readers.) link: 214 comments

What happened to Arafats' Billions?

CAIR tries to mau-mau Dennis Prager

Fine. Let them take their oaths on the book of their choice. When I'm elected to Congress, I want to be sworn in on The True Nature of Imposture by Humphrey Prideaux. But in the meantime, before the Balkanization of America is fully completed (although Ellison's desire comes as no surprise to me, as it echoes cases we have covered here before), CAIR is all wet. There is not a thing "bigoted, intolerant and divisive" about upholding Western Judeo-Christian tradition. If Prager is removed from the Holocaust Council, it will be a victory not only for that Balkanization, but for genuine bigotry and intolerance, directed as always against those who uphold the values on which this nation is based. "Islamic group wants Ellison critic removed from Holocaust council," from Associated Press, with thanks to the Constantinopilitan Irredentist:

WASHINGTON - An Islamic civil rights group said Monday that a columnist who criticized Rep.-elect Keith Ellison's decision to use the Quran during his ceremonial swearing-in should be removed from the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations said the comments by Dennis Prager, a columnist and conservative talk radio host, displayed an intolerance toward Islam that make him an inappropriate person to serve on the council.

Ellison, D-Minn., is the first Muslim elected to Congress.

In his column last week, Prager wrote: "Insofar as a member of Congress taking an oath to serve America and uphold its values is concerned, America is interested in only one book, the Bible. If you are incapable of taking an oath on that book, don't serve in Congress."...

"No one who holds such bigoted, intolerant and divisive views should be in a policymaking position at a taxpayer-funded institution that seeks to educate Americans about the destructive impact hatred has had, and continues to have, on every society," CAIR's executive director, Nihad Awad, wrote in a letter to the council's chairman, Fred Zeidman.

Iraq Report Released

The Iraq Study Group’s report is out: Iraq Study Group: United States Institute of Peace. As expected, it’s all about defeat and retreat.

It advocates “dialog” with our worst enemies, including the madman who, with exquisite timing, just told the West to convert or die. link: 277 comments "They were smoking crack while they wrote this. But I'll bet the MSM will eat it up, as will all the Congressional Democrats, eager for a Viet Nam style defeat. Dark days ahead. And the West watches the Billboard Music Awards, fiddling and rapping while the modern equivalent of Rome (or maybe the real Rome, soon) burns."

Here's a response from Joel Himelfarb at OpinionJournal.

I am a tad confused too. I voted Republican and I got a RINO president.

#228 goodbye_natalie  12/6/2006 10:31AM PST

This has gotten to the point of being so stupid, I am almost tired of talking about it. I am now convinced that it will take another 9/11 for most of America to wake up to the fact you don't negotiate or make friends in war.

Can you imagine if we had tried to fight the Japanese and their Shinto religion in 1944 with dialogue, fossilized committees and half-assed measures?

It looks like it has taken about 60 years for America to totally lose its leadership. And the saddest part is when this is all said and done and much blood has been shed, most of America still won't recognize how futile it is totry to  negotiate with Muslims.

VIDEO: GEERT WILDER'S FITNA FILM IS LIVE!! UPDATE: LIVELEAK CAVED TO ISLAMIC THREATS! TOOK FITNA DOWN!!
FITNA LIVE AT ATLAS

UPDATE! WATCH IT! IT'S VIRAL NOW -- IT CAN'T BE STOPPED!. I LOVE Rusty over at My Pet Jawa

***UPDATE*** LIVE LEAK CAVED! BUT I THOUGHT THIS WOULD HAPPEN AND I ASKED A FRIEND TO DOWNLOAD IT. Let's see if I can get it back up. Give me sometime .... Meanwhile play the video for Liveleak's explanation. If we all don't stand up to Islam together,we all go down.

This is the point of the film, is it not?

UPDATE: SITES RUNNING FITNA are being suspended - POLIGAZETTE - Michael VanderGalien from the Netherlands - WAS suspended.

Phyllis Chesler opiines, Liveleak is apparently based in the UK. I did not like what they said about "understanding other cultures" in their explanation for why they took it down after being threatened. Viewing the film is the BEST way to "understand" this other culture of hatred.

LIVELEAK DUTCH VERSION: 4,057,578

DUTCH Version: Fitna the Movie: Geert Wilders' film over de Koran. (Nederlands)

UPDATE: ATLAS OBSERVATION: This is a great film and I will tell you why. It is powerful and succinct. There is no editorial, no opinion. Just Islam. There are the violent acts of war by Islam and the Koranic verses that call for them. There is nothing incendiary except for the actual word of the Koran. It pulls together, for the the misinformed public, what is really happening around them, why it is happening. And while it is nothing we haven't seen (MEMRI, PMW, blogs etc.), FITNA (because of its controversial nature)  had sufficient publicity to whet the public's appetite. Other films that have more depth and give a more complete picture of the long war (ie Obsession) were viewed by only a handful of already clued in citizens.

The misinformed public, by and large, have been saturated with the  fallacious meme about peaceful Muslims when really what we are talking about are non-practicing or secular or lapsed Muslims vs. those that adhere to the basic tenets of Islam. This  is a critical distinction that is never made. A pious Muslim is compelled, is required to be a supporter of jihad.

"A religion of peace" but only under a pax Islamica - one world living under Islam (that part is always left out).

I hope and I pray that FITNA is viewed buy millions, billions even of freedom loving peoples the world over so that we can finally begin to develop a strategy that will succeed against an enemy we have willfully failed to recognize or understand. The film is simple and brilliant.

Props to LIVELEAK. Powerful.  Truth. G-d bless Wilders. Wilders has described the film as "a call to shake off the creeping tyranny of Islamization"

Shame on Network Solutions.

Anti-Qur'an film Fitna goes online  Radio Netherlands hat tip wolf

The Hague -Dutch politician Geert Wilders has released his anti-Qur'an film, Fitna, on the internet. The website of his Party for Freedom (www.pvv.nl) contains a link to the site where the film, which lasts approximately 16 minutes, can be seen.

Before it begins, viewers are warned that they may see shocking images; these include pictures of the terrorist attacks in New York, Madrid and London. Fitna also contains fragments of interviews with the Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh, translations of verses from the Qur'an, newspaper headlines about death threats to Ayaan Hirsi Ali and quotes from sermons delivered by orthodox imams. It also notes that the number of Muslims living in the Netherlands has risen from 54,000 to 944,000 over the last hundred years.

Towards the end, a hand is shown grabbing a page of the Qur'an; the image is accompanied by the sound of tearing paper. Dutch subtitles then explain that the sound was that of a page being torn from a telephone book. In a written declaration, Mr Wilders declares that it is not up to him to tear malicious verses out of the Qur'an, but that Muslims themselves must do that.

1945 saw the triumph of democracy over Nazism and 1989 the fall of Communism. Mr Wilders believes that that the time has now come for Islamist ideology to be defeated.

Muslim group seeks fine for Dutch lawmaker, ban on anti-Quran film

Associated Press , THE JERUSALEM POST  Mar. 27, 2008

A Dutch judge is due on Friday to hear the petition of a Muslim group seeking an independent review of an anti-Quran film by lawmaker Geert Wilders to see whether it violates hate speech laws.

Showing the attacks on the West on 9/11 is now going to be considered hate speech?

The petition, seen by The Associated Press Thursday at the Hague District Court, says the Dutch Islamic Federation "believes the situation of Muslims in the Netherlands today is comparable with that of our Jewish fellow-citizens in the 1930s."

*SPIT* The twist this time is the "victims" are the ones doing all the killing, beheading, mass murder ....

The federation asked for a fine of $79,000 per day if Wilders airs the film, and a $7,900 fine for each future instance of an "injuring remark."

Let's start a collection.

UPDATE: Diana West has a great post on Fitna on her blog here:

News Flash from Pakistan: Fitna protest in Karachi outside a mosque. Guess they found some flags.

New flash from Denmark: Kurt Westergaard, he of bomb-head Mohammed cartoon fame, is planning to sue Geert Wilders for Wilders' use of his cartoon in Fitna. Oh, brother. (Psst, Kurt: Every time somebody reprints your terrific cartoon, freedom of speech in the West is upheld, remember? The problem has been, so very few media outlets have had the guts to do so. Please, have a glug of Danish beer and think it over...)

Meanwhile, from the same story, an interesting Fitna Rage--Fita Controlled Rage--report out of Jordan:

Meanwhile, a coalition of Jordanian media says they will take Mr Wilders to court over the film and urged Arab leaders to review ties with Denmark and the Netherlands.

"We held an urgent meeting Thursday evening and decided to sue extremist and Zionist deputy Geert Wilders," over the film deemed offensive to the Koran, Islam's holiest book, coalition spokesman Zakaria al-Sheikh said.

Sheikh said the coalition of 30 Jordanian independent newspapers, websites and radios would also initiate a campaign to boycott Dutch products in addition to launching legal proceedings against Mr Wilders in Jordan.

He also urged Arab leaders at a weekend summit in Damascus "to denounce campaigns hostile to Islam and review their ties with countries like Denmark and the Netherlands where these campaigns were launched".

A handful of Muslim countries had responded early Friday, with Iran saying the short movie showed some Westerners were waging a "vendetta" against Islam, and warning of unspecified repercussions.

Bangladesh also said the film could have "grave consequences", while a coalition of Jordanian media said it would sue Mr Wilders and launch a campaign to boycott Dutch products.

The European Union's Slovenian Presidency also attacked the film, saying it served "no other purpose than inflaming hatred."

But Muslim leaders in The Netherlands called at a joint press conference for their co-religionists in other countries not to over-react.

"We call on them to follow our strategy and not react with attacks on Dutch embassies or tourists," the head of the Dutch Moroccan community, Mohamed Rabbae, said.

"We feel offended by the link between violence and Islam but we know this guy [and] the best response is a response in a responsible manner."

UPDATE Pete Hoekstra in The Wall Street Journal. Mr. Hoekstra, who was born in the Netherlands, is ranking Republican on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence..
ISLAM AND FREE SPEECH

Radical jihadists are prepared to use violence against individuals to stop them from exercising their free speech rights. In some countries, converting a Muslim to another faith is a crime punishable by death. While Muslim clerics are free to preach and proselytize in the West, some Muslim nations severely restrict or forbid other faiths to do so. In addition, moderate Muslims around the world have been deemed apostates and enemies by radical jihadists.

Radical jihadists believe representative government is un-Islamic, and urge Muslims who live in democracies not to exercise their right to vote. The reason is not hard to understand: When given a choice, most Muslims reject the extreme approach to Islam. This was recently demonstrated in Iraq's Anbar Province, which went from an al-Qaeda stronghold to an area supporting the U.S.-led coalition. This happened because the populace came to intensely dislike the fanatical ways of the radicals, which included cutting off fingers of anyone caught smoking a cigarette, 4 p.m. curfews, beatings and beheadings. There also were forced marriages between foreign-born al Qaeda fighters and local Sunni women.

There may be a direct relationship between the radical jihadists' opposition to democracy and their systematic abuse of women. Women have virtually no rights in this radical world: They must conceal themselves, cannot hold jobs, and have been subjected to honor killings. Would most women in Muslim countries vote for a candidate for public office who supported such oppressive rules?

Read it all.

"Death to the filmmaker"

Fitna Rage grows. "Muslim, UN outrage over Dutch MP's anti-Islam film," from AFP:

Muslim nations, the European Union and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Friday expressed outrage at an anti-Islam film posted on the Internet by a far-right Dutch MP. [...]

Morocco's Communications Minister Khalid Naciri said Wilders was "mentally retarded".

Iran said the 17-minute film showed Westerners were waging a "vendetta" against Islam, and warned of repercussions. A Jordanian media coalition said they would take Wilders to court and launch a campaign to boycott Dutch products.

In Karachi, Pakistan's largest city, about 40 supporters of the hardline Islamist party Jamaat-i-Islami staged a protest, chanting "Death to the filmmaker".

In an interview with AFP Friday Wilders rejected any responsibility for retaliation against Dutch nationals or interests abroad.

"I hope it doesn't happen but even if it does the people who commit such acts are responsible, not me," he said....

Precisely.

Balkenende however warned that people should not draw conclusions too quickly. "We are not past it yet ... Sometimes it can take months before the true repercussions are felt," he told journalists.

Yes. Or years, once Europe is fully Islamized, while Balkenende and his ilk spent their energy muzzling those who were trying to prevent it.

"Too bad about LiveLeak taking the film down due to threats against their employees. People are protesting against the violence of the film when they are doing the very thing they protest."

Fitna (Bumped)

Update 2 - Darcey is hosting Fitna on his own server, and Flea is providing torrent links.

"If you quote the Koran. If you do so in the name of freedom of speech. You will be threatened with death. The press will collude with the enemy."

When I can figure out how to set it up, I'll host another here.

Statement from Liveleak on the removal of Fitna

Because "multiculturalism" means "more pavilions at Folkfest"...

In anticipation of this, a number of sources have already saved and rehosted the film, so it won't be hard to find.

Background info.

Because they just can't help themselves. - Addressing the European parliament, the Grand Mufti of Syria told his audience that "If there is unrest, bloodshed and violence after the broadcast of the Koran film, Wilders will be responsible."

A million views at Liveleak already (and nearly two million of the Dutch version) and they've issued a statement. Via Hotair - "They’re obviously willing to go to the mat to keep this online."

Michael van der Galien chronicles the astonishing efforts to stop the film from being seen in the Netherlands. "I disagree with your opinion that Islam is violent, but I will fight to the death to prevent you from inciting them". Or something like that.

Fitna follow-up: The usual suspects do the usual thing; Update: Fitna pulled from Liveleak; “This is a sad day for freedom of speech on the net…”

By Michelle Malkin  •  March 28, 2008 12:44 PM

Pulled from Liveleak, but still available all over the Web…The genie is out of the bottle already. You can get the Torrent downloads here and a gazillion other places. Wilders’ point has been proven–and will be again and again and again.

Fitna the Movie Dutch (official release march 27, 2008)

Update 4:45pm Eastern: And so the inevitable occurs. Liveleak has pulled “Fitna” from its site (via Allahpundit)…

Following threats to our staff of a very serious nature, and some ill informed reports from certain corners of the British media that could directly lead to the harm of some of our staff, Liveleak.com has been left with no other choice but to remove Fitna from our servers.

This is a sad day for freedom of speech on the net but we have to place the safety and well being of our staff above all else. We would like to thank the thousands of people, from all backgrounds and religions, who gave us their support. They realised LiveLeak.com is a vehicle for many opinions and not just for the support of one.
Perhaps there is still hope that this situation may produce a discussion that could benefit and educate all of us as to how we can accept one anothers culture.
We stood for what we believe in, the ability to be heard, but in the end the price was too high.

***
In the wake of “Fitna’s” release, the usual suspects are doing their usual things.

Tick, tick, tick: Muslim nations condemn Dutch Koran film.

Diana West surveyed the preemptive rage.

Lawhawk responds to the EU’s condemnation of the film: “It’s rare to hear them denouncing ongoing terrorism done in the name of Islam by jihadis, whether it is in Afghanistan, Thailand, Philippines, or Israel. Where are the calls for tolerance when the jihadis are busy blowing up schools, businesses, rioting, and otherwise seeking to kill non Muslims and those who are not strict adherents to their brand of Islam?”

Robert Spencer: “Mind you, the European Union has never, ever said anything like that regarding attacks on Christianity. The point is not just the double standard; it is that they are allowing violent intimidation to succeed, and that will only lead to more violent intimidation.”

Britain is in the crosshairs because Liveleak is based in Manchester:

Britain was dragged into the controversy over an anti-Islam film made by a far-Right Dutch MP after Iran condemned its appearance on a UK-based video-sharing website today.

“This heinous measure by a Dutch lawmaker and a British establishment… is indicative of the continuation of the evilness and deep vengeance such Western nationals have against Islam and Muslims,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

Mohammad Ali Hosseini, called on the Dutch, British and other EU governments to block any further showing of “this blasphemous, anti-Islamic and anti-cultural film”.

…Mr Wilders’s film, which intersperses images of the September 11 attacks and other Islamist bombings with quotations from the Koran, was first posted on the website of his small right-wing Freedom Party on Thursday night.

It disappeared after a few minutes because of “technical difficulties” before becoming available in Dutch and English on LiveLeak, a Manchester-based website, raising fears that extremists could also target British interests. Some 4,000 British troops are serving in Iraq and a further 7,800 in Afghanistan.

The company running LiveLeak defended its decision to host the film. “Liveleak.com has a strict stance on remaining unbiased and allowing freedom of speech so far as the law and our rules allow,” it said in a statement posted online.

David Miliband, the Foreign Secretary, said “we hold fast and firm to European values of freedom of speech”. However, speaking in Slovenia where he was attending talks with his EU counterparts, he added that “in each of our countries there are legal and judicial systems to ensure that freedom is not used to incite religious or racial hatred”.

And Kurt Westergaard doesn’t want his cartoon in the film:

SPIEGEL ONLINE: Mr. Westergaard, the anti-Koran movie made by right-wing Dutch politician Geert Wilders begins with your drawing of the Prophet Muhammad showing him with a time bomb in his turban. You are taking legal action against Wilders as a result. Why?

Westergaard: The Danish Union of Journalists will file for an injunction today to force Wilders to take my cartoon out of the film. I don’t want my cartoon taken out of its original context. It was a cartoon aiming at fanatic Islamist terrorists — a small part of Islam. The cartoon must not be used against Muslim society as a whole. That was not my intention.

SPIEGEL ONLINE: And this is what you think Wilders is doing with his film?

Westergaard: Wilders has a overly generalized perception of Muslims as potential terrorists. But it’s not like that at all — I know a lot of Muslims living here in Denmark who accept democracy completely and who live their religion as a very private matter. I hope that all Muslims will adapt to secular society. There is currently friction between Muslim and Christian culture. But I am quite sure, that our Western democratic culture will prevail over the darker version of Islam. We must have Islam-light.

That was “Fitna’s” message, too.

You can find translations of all the suras quoted in the film from http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/008.qmt.html

The film's translations are not "bad" - they are accurate.

Pat Condells video essay on radical Islam is well worth the watch as well.

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=30a_1204991129

Pete Hoekstra, senior Republican on the US House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence:

"Even if the new Wilders film proves newsworthy, it is likely that few members of the Western media will air it, perhaps because they have been intimidated by radical jihadist threats… I defend the right of Mr. Wilders and the media to air this film because free speech is a fundamental right that is the foundation of modern society. Western governments and media outlets cannot allow themselves to be bullied into giving up this precious right due to threats of violence. We must not fool ourselves into believing that we can appease the radical jihadist movement by allowing them to set up parallel societies and separate legal systems, or by granting them special protection from criticism."

You can watch it here also.
