Anyone watching in HDTV? It will be unbelievable. Even the pregame interviews seem like the people are here in my TV room.

I normally like participating in these live sporting event threads but as an obsessive New England Patriot fan, I will refrain from participating tonight as I want to absorb every moment of the game. However, if the Pats do badly and start getting blown out, I might just turn off the television and come onto this thread to drown my sorrows with my fellow New England Freepers (as I did when the Red Sox blew Game 7 of the ALCS last October).

I just spend most of the day getting all my errands done. Then I stacked about 10 hours of wood by the fireplace so I don't have to worry about fetching wood during the game. As well, I have my refrigerator full of beer. To justify all the carbs, I took a 15-mile hike yesterday with a backpack and just got back from a brisk 5-mile walk today. Got myself down to a "fighting weight" of 195 so let the carb consumption begin. I'll be back up to 200 by midnight and so I'll just have to get some extra workouts done this week.

I bought five pounds of scallops yesterday and my wife just wrapped them all in bacon and they are ready for the oven. I'll be eating scallops and bacon all afternoon with some nuts and cheese and pepperoni for snacks so aside from the beer, it will still be pretty much a low-carb day.

Chilling in the refrigerator are two very expensive bottles of Muscat - my favorite dessert wine. I will open these bottles up as soon as it becomes apparent the Patriots will win. If they don't win, well, I'll just have to save them for the Red Sox in October.

So I guess it's time to leave this thread and get down to the basement (where the big screen TV resides in the family room) and get the fire going in the fireplace so the room will be toasty warm for the game. I guess I'll take in the pre-pre-pre game shows and savor every moment of what should be a great day in Patriot Nation.

I'm rooting for the Yankees.

Pitchers and catchers report in two weeks.

The French-looking Lurch F'ing Kerry

btw: My prediction NE: 17, Car: 10

Further, both defenses will score at least one TD each.

My take: When the Pats decimated my beloved Colts, it was because Belichick was the perfect match-up for Peyton Manning. Their defense is all about deception, and faking the QB into calling a play he shouldn't... and Peyton is all about calling plays at the line based on what he sees.

Carolina is entirely the opposite. They run the ball, with an occasional pass to keep the Defense honest, and eveyone knows it. They dare the defense to stop them. No trickery is needed... just execution. The Panthers have executed well all year. Belichick's brilliance will be a non-factor. Only the defense's pure talent will matter. There is quite a bit of talent, especially in The Pats secondary, but with a run-happy Panthers team, that advantage is also mostly neutralized.

The game will come down to the Pats Offensive line. If the Panthers Defensive line can get to Brady with any regularity, he will look like Peyton did last week: flummoxed. Panthers 20-17. If they can't get to Brady, he nickel-and-dimes them to death, and the Pats win, 27-20.

Curley Nill,
Losers ??? THe Patriots!! Give me a break. THey are the only team ever to beat 10 teams that have 10 victories in a single season. They also have not been behind in a game for over 422 minutes (over 7 games)
Sounds like you are an angry Colts or Titan fan!! Get over it. The Patriots will win by 10 points. I called all four division champs and Pats will win 24- 14

I always root for the team that beat my favorite, just so I can always argue that my team at least lost to the best... but this time, I can't root for the Colt-whooping Pats. Their fans are just too obnoxious. I guess they have to live out their Red Sox fantasies through the Pats and Celtics. ;^)

The French-looking Lurch Kerry will be there at a meet and greet with his sycophants.

Are you referring to the one and only Mannequin of Marseilles?

I'm eating baked Canadian goose today. I'm a big wild animal fan. That means the Panthers win.

I think they have a video game every year between a designated player from each participating team. I've heard the last 8 Superbowls were won by the team who won the video game. This apparently took place on Tuesday and the Panthers won...
