GOP slams Bush policies at retreat

Growing frustration over President Bush's immigration plan and lack of fiscal discipline came to a head behind closed doors at last weekend's Republican retreat in Philadelphia.

House lawmakers, stunned by the intensity of their constituents' displeasure at some of Mr. Bush's key domestic policies, gave his political strategist Karl Rove an earful behind closed doors.

I've probably takled to, argued, pontificated, lectured, hectored,and debated more people, than most. I've done this almost my entire life. Yes, I have educated many and " converted " some. We just can't ever know how many stay enlightened. That's the sad, but true fact.Many, we'll never reach and most will backslide; turned by someone else, or by watching the nightly news on the networks, instead of FNC.

I see. So it's "think whatever you wish, so long as you keep us in power." That's healthy for democracy, to be sure.

And there is a wide gulf between criticism aimed at Bush from conservatives and liberals. Not voting for a man who was consistently governed from the left does not automatically make you a liberal.

What will it take for me to vote for Bush in 04?

Repudiation of the immigration plan from the White House. Not "letting it die in secret," not tweaking it and calling it a "revised plan." Outright repudiation of the plan will be my litmus test. Bush has yet to do that - he's still defending the )(#*%! thing.

See, I'm a second generation legal immmigrant who grew up in Texas. I've seen the illegal alien invasion ruin the quality of life in my hometown. So despite Bush's protests to the contrary, I know what this is about.

If I had wanted to live in Mexico, I would have gone there.

The term fringer refers to those who promote third parties ( though they are below " third " ), such a the Constitution Party and the Libertarian Party, whose candidates have absolutely no chance of ever garnering enough votes to win the presidential election, but could, if enough people ever decided to vote for them, act as SPOILERS.

The LP platform calls for such things as open borders, the legalization of ALL now illegal substances, the emptying out of jails, of all nonviolent criminals, the selling of ALL now public owned property to anyone, anyone at all,and they were against our War on Terror/against the USA going into Afghanistan and Iraq.And that's just for starters! That's fringe of the fringe of the far right.

The "Smart Growth" folks, the "consensus builders" the Interior and Agriculture Departments, the eco-fascists, I think all the Dim candidates for prez, and His Slickness for starters.

His Slickness had something called the President's Council on Sustainable Development (I think that is what it was called) to facilitate the states adopting some of Agenda 21.

A lot of the eco-fascists put in the government by His Slickness are still there to this day. There was a guy in the Forest Service that resigned this year because he didn't like Bush's stance on "healthy forests" etc. I actually met him once at a Forest Service public hearing on the "roadless area initiative."

For every guy like that, there are quite a few that have not resigned.

There are not a few in the Republickin Pawrty who want access to the corporate money that selling influence ala the Slave Party brings. Agenda21 is a vehicle for acquriing power for sale. It is that element that unifies the "moderates" in both parties, since there is no such thing as moderates who make campaign donations unless there is something in it for them.

You'e right.Wanna know why? The Dems tend to sign an order switching certain appointees into Senior Executive Service(Civil Service) making them nigh unto impossible to can. We hav a bunch appointed at Gore's behest still in thr FAA, Maddening sometimes. (like all the time)

In the vernacular I blame the inertia created by a lazy, intellectually dishonest population that has bought into the liberal dream nanny state that has gone way beyond "a chicken in every pot" and the elected officials who mirror that without any serious consideration of long term effects while failing to live up to their Constitutional duty.

We're in agreement all the way around. You're right .the nanny state would no have gotten to where it is now without the seduction, then the willingness to be seduced ,of the middle class. The Elite have their own agenda, which you and I together can probably post why they are that way, and the loser class , who refuse to look at, let alone live up to, their own potentials.

I don't yet think we are doomed , but we could be if we ever decide to quit. One of the points I think is lost is tha tthe big middle is too comfortable to think,just react. They like to be entertained and charmed. Clinton did this, Perot did as well. PJB did not, John Kerry's charm offensive won't last, I don't think. John Edwards just might .

In a way, what we've touched on is an addiction to elements in the Nanny State. Our entertainment industry,that includs the network news and newsmagazines,sings a nice little song to us. They tell us with serious faces what we are supposed to hear,offering to think for us and we are too mesmerized by the flickering imagery that our logic button never goes off.

You are correct. This thread is about a bunch of craven cowards that are saying Bush made them write all of this "liberal" legislation and he made them pass it. This thread is about 1/3 of the government blaming another third of not protecting them against themselves.***
