I work with April in the White House Press Corps. Everything with her is racist. Many of her questions in the briefings begin with, "Jesse Jackson said..."

Bush was Bush and that's what makes him great. When he "stammers" as you say...he is thinking and trying to say AGAIN in another way to say what he said probably two questions ago. He was great and he was masterful of the interview. Lil timmy was rudly interrupting every chance he got as President Bush was getting to the last point in his sentence. To his credit...President Bush would not allow him to do that. He stayed the course and finished his thought. I LOVED it when he said he would not change his vision for the country and the American people and would not lead according to polls. He does just fine on TV in my opinion. He's not scripted. When scripted you get every word and thought perfect. Instead President Bush said what he believed and he did great.

The other thing I mentioned to my husband was Russert's appearance. He looked a little on the disheveled side. His collar and shirt did not look crisp and sharp. Maybe it was the end of the day but...for a prestigious intervew like this I would have thought he would have looked as great President Bush. I dont' know...was weird.

"would not lead according to polls"

Oh my, I missed that one during the program. Thank you. Wow, is that a shot at BC or what?

These days I don't know of any subject that isn't looked at through a prism of race when it comes to most black people. I attribute that to hustlers like Jesse Jackson, Mary Francis Berry, The Congressional Black Caucus, etc. etc., and it's getting worse.

Unlike the former occupant of the White House, who could glibly ad lib 12 lies a minute in 6 languages (or was that accents?) at the drop of a hat, only to be admired by an adoring press, which wondered in awe 'how'd he do that'?

Bush did have a lot to gain. Answering his critics lies with the truth. Why should he sit back and let Kerry, McAuliffe and the rest of the liars on the left, continue to slam him without any response, to set the record straight?

Yes, and the whole dem/lib party. Go back and listen if you can...it's toward the very end. Was great. It shows President Bush as a man of principle and will do what he knows is right for our people and our country. He cares NOT about polls and does not take part in the nasty attacks as is so much a part of the dem/lib party and their followers. He is a an honorable man who will do what is right in spite of all the critics.

Also Russert mentioned something about what lil tommy said about the President or the President's policies .. can't remember exactly but it was insignificant to me because we all know lil' tommy spends most of his life being saddened about one thing or another. So, what is new there?

As for McAlluiffe challenging President Bush's Guard record...I wonder...what uniform of the United States did terry wear? Anyone? Anyone know? Also, President Bush said he doesn't care if they question him BUT...they need to be VERY CAREFUL denegrating the National Guard. Am sure you heard him say there are good people in the Guard and they are doing their job. THAT was an EXCELLENT POINT and well noted by Guard members and their families no doubt and...he is right. As I asked before...anyone know which uniform terry mcA wore in support and defense of the United States?

I thought it was his best one on one uinterview I've seen him do, did he studder.... Sure, but he does that all the time. Was he tripped up by Timmy (I'm for Kerry) Russert? ............ NO. Did he seem like he was honest and not dodging the wuestions? .............. NO. All in all I think he won over sokme of those who have been watching and listening to the constant attacks he has been under. Will he pear off any of those who hate him here and on the left? (Same anyway) ......... NO. they live to hate.

On a scale from 1 - 100 I would give it a 90

CORRECTION: Change "Did he seem like he was honest and not dodging the Questions? .............. NO ------- TO -------- "Did he seem like he was honest and not dodging the Questions?" .............. YES

Never give your enemy ammunition. I fear that is what GWB has done.

To stay with the ammo theme, I would say he wet their powder.

No sarcasm needed. With the way the Liberal press despises Bush, it's almost a given. :)

I'm so sick and tired of how the media and the DNC has spun the WMD "LIE" and the "FACT" that President Bush was a "DESERTER" and was "AWOL" during his National Guard service.

I have aquaintances who firmly believe only the headlines and carefully crafted soundbites that twist the truth. Because of the press, they believe that BUSH LIED and he was AWOL and a DESERTER.

Any good news or performance by President Bush will be twisted to look negative or totally ignored by the majority of media outlets.

I am not quite so good a Christian as President Bush. I hold grudges and when somebody attacks me I am wont to hit back harder and with everything I have.

President Bush does hold a grudge (think Saddam Hussein), and has a killer instinct. He doesn't choose to "kill", however, in the conventional way. He can "kill with kindness" (think Ann Richards, when she called him "shrub" he treated her with respect; think Al Gore during the debates, when he got in George Bush's face Bush gave him a look up and down which was far more effective than punching him in the nose or throwing him off the stage.)

Think of Bill Clinton. George Bush refused to get into the mess re: Clinton's goons, er, staff destroying the White House. When the time came, after the Democrats made fools of themselves denying the story, the pictures were made public.

Just because George Bush doesn't avenge himself the way you or I would, doesn't mean he doesn't get revenge. Eventually.

I agree with you, cp. As I saw it, Russert was off balance the entire interview and the President never backed down to him once, and in fact, came right at Russert every chance he got.

President Bush is a very high caliber Texas style poker player and having played poker with some of the best Texas has to offer (in my rather misspent younger days), my take on it, is that the President is holding a "full boat", "aces high" (at the very least) and sandbagged Russert and the rest of the Dim's masterfully. Just my opinion of course, but time will tell.

Then what you are suggesting is that Mcauliffe and Kerry were being effective. I don't think they were. The interview was a bit of panic reaction to recent polls.

The key to political victory is not defense. It is attack. If you have to defend or explain your positions then you are tacitly saying they require defense and explanation.

GWB should never complain and never explain. Attack..attack...attack. That is the key to victory. GWB needs to put Kerry and Crew on the defensive not explain his rationale.

"It was a mistake to go on. Bush seemed tentative, defensive, and frankly stammered at times. This will not lose him the election, but it was a bad move."

Bush can do much better than he did.
