C-Span

The Gun Manufacturers Liability Bill just failed by a vote of 8-90. Now there are no worries about the AWB (for now!).

I'm stunned. Thrilled.

Although this leaves the gun manufacturers (still) open to frivolous lawsuits. Hopefully one day soon they can get a clean bill passed.

I have a feeling that this was the Rat's plan all along. Add so many poison pills the bill would never survive thus protecting their trial lawyer buddies.

Except that the gun lawsuit racket has been spectacularly unsuccessful, even in liberal jurisdictions.

As long there are RINOs around in the Senate, that will happen in your dreams. I am thrilled however, its not going to get worse. The status quo while not what we would like, is better than the alternative.

Because they didn't want the liability legislation to begin with. This was their RAT plan - poison the bill so much that no Republican could vote for it and face his constituents.

And they just tied up at least 3 days of Senate floor time. Delay, delay, delay, filibuster, delay.. it's all part of the "legislative plan" this year. Watch and see.

So, as of now, we have no protection from liability for gunmakers, and a renewal of the assault weapons bill.

Looks like the Democrats just handed us our a**es..

The Senate agreed Tuesday to extend a ban on military-style assault weapons and to require background checks for all buyers at private gun shows, defying the gun industry, the White House and the Senate's own Republican leaders.

I just voted against one of the Ohio RINO's (Voinovich). I think DeWine has another 2 years to go.

"So, as of now, we have no protection from liability for gunmakers, and a renewal of the assault weapons bill."

As far as I know the AWB sunsets in September unless it is renewed. They will have to attach it to another bill and force another vote now.

Why would rats let it die...they got most of what they wanted

A good question. ....they got the (Feinstein) AWB extension, the (Boxer) gun locks amdmt, and the "gun show loophole" closed. I have no idea why they let it die.

I think you're incorrect there NL.

The extension was added as an amendment to the Gun Liability bill, and the entire bill was defeated.

Ergo, no AWB extension.

No. The AWB is a part of the liability bill, which was defeated. We go back to status quo.

Their "victories were short lived" the amendments can not stand on their own. When the bill died they died as well.

Actually, it looks like we have nothing Ugly Gun Ban extension was an amendment to the liability protection bill. Both are dead.

I want to know who were the 8 commie-rat-bastards who voted for the final, amended bill?

The assault weapons ban and gun show loophole amendments were attached to the bill that just went down in flames. So they went down with it.
