John O'Neill, the Vietnam veteran who took on John Kerry in the 1971 debate on American "war crimes" that was recently rebroadcast on C-SPAN, will be interviewed by Wolf Blitzer on CNN this evening. O'Neill, who commanded a Swift boat in the same division as Kerry -- though for considerably longer -- more than held his own against Kerry during a 90-minute special broadcast of the Dick Cavett Show. Now he is challenging Senator Kerry to continue the debate they began 33 years ago, in an effort to clear the names of the Vietnam veterans Kerry once accused of war crimes "committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command."

"It's not a matter of forgiveness, but of fitness."

What a perfect statement! Thanks for the ongoing. I hope the transcript gets published somewhere.

O'Neill interview and Meehan backtracking took 20 minutes of Wolff Blitzer -- sounds like the shoe has dropped on Kerry -- O'Neill showed the BOOK on national TV and repeated what he said 33 years ago -- that Kerry is simply a LIAR.

LOL. Well, he's got nearly 33 years of experience since that debate. I thought when I watched the debate on C-SPAN, he was wise beyond his years for 25.

Correction:

He was "loaned" to John Kerry from NARAL not the NOW gang.

"Michael Meehan, political director for the nation's leading abortion-rights organization, NARAL Pro-Choice America."

If John O'Neill was only on Fox News the rest of the media would just ignore him, I suppose. He would be accused of lying. I listened to Franken today for five minutes and he had the "Bush lie of the day", the "Rush lie of the day" and the "O'Rielly lie of the day". Everyone who disagrees is lying. Franken was getting all excited because someone was saying President Bush could now be impeached. I didn't hear why because I turned it off.

O'Neil was Grrreat!!!!

He done good. Of course Wolfie attempted to make it a 911 Commission type interview (spending too much time asking the questions). Then Wolfie (patronizingly) referred to O'Neill as "impassioned" (i.e., apt to be slanted or irrational) in the subsequent segment.

This SHOULD be the lead story on the hour on every TV and Cable newsrooms.
If not, they need to be taken to task.
I'll give CNN at least credit for breaking the story.
FOX lead story is on workers overtime.
"Fair and Balanced" my foot!

Yep. Kerry picked up Meehan when he booted out his original top level campaign staffer, and "reinvented" his campaign team last fall.

WASHINGTON - Amid questions about his military records, John Kerry (news - web sites)'s campaign on Tuesday provided certification of his medals from the Vietnam War, including three Purple Hearts for combat injuries. Kerry spokesman Michael Meehan said the campaign was in the process of compiling the rest of Kerry's naval record and planned to begin posting it on the Internet by day's end.

O'Neill has always been GREAT when it comes to debating and taking on the "intellectual, brilliant" John Kerry. If you missed the debate on C-Span email them and ask them to show it again. He creamed Kerry then and will do it again. He is NOT afraid of the Kerry camp.

He was not only wise beyond his years but he was well armed. Facts is facts. Ketchup Boy's been trying to forget his traitorous past for years. Now O'Neill's front and center to remind him. I hope he makes an appearance every news show, and multiple times.

Franken was getting all excited because someone was saying President Bush could now be impeached. I didn't hear why because I turned it off.

My guess is the reason he should be impeached is because he boarded AF-1 to make a speech on the renewal of the Patriot Act in Buffalo, NY. The Liberals want the Patriot Act to die off.

By the way, John O'Neill is looking for other members of the Swift boat crews who he's been unable to locate to date. If anyone here is in contact with a Swift boat veteran, please ask him to email John at JohnONeill@WinterSoldier.com.

Also, we can use help creating a transcript of John's 1971 debate with Kerry, please freepmail me. We have the debate in digital format, but we lack the time to transcribe it... thanks, I.T.
