It looks to me like the Muslim faith peaked in the 12th century. Its been worse than stagnant -- its gone downhill ever since. Doubt it any modern Muslim kids in the madrases would know what an astrolabe it, or how to use it. But I bet you they can tell you the fault of everything on this planet is due to the Jews or the Americans. And as long they can fill their hearts with hate, and scream their death chants, they will convince themselves that they are humanity's best hope.

How you can even compare the two only reveals your ignorance. I've lived in this "mostly" Christian country all my life...and I've never felt like Christians are shoving their religion in my face.

It makes no difference on what basis the decision is made. How does stopping the wailing on loudspeakers prevent them from practicing their religion or from speaking out against the government? Are you really this slow or do you simply not understand the very arguments you were trying to make?

I like the Apostle's Creed analogy stated somewhere in a previous post. Would the muslims approve of hearing that 5 times a day or whatever?

I think this is the perfect opportunity to preach the gospel of Jesus. A minute after the 'call to prayer', a Christian church in the area ought to broadcast a prayer or a lovely hymn.

Go look up the words to these calls to prayers and you will see that they are pure prostylization(sp?)

Whatever the words are, the purpose is a call for Muslims to pray, nothing more.

A person can walk away from someone preaching the gospel.

Yes, when they frame their arguments as "I don't want that religion around me."

Frame it as "I don't want that noise at 6 a.m." and I'm right there with you. I don't expect the council that allowed this to happen to last beyond the next election.

Church bells are CHURCH BELLS....its a NON VOCAL sound, usually done once a day in some cities..in others ONLY on Sunday. If a Christian Church (or any religion) started saying prayers or sermans over their loud speakers EVERY DAY, SEVERAL TIMES A DAY for the ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD TO HEAR I would NOT agree with that either.

The MUSLIMS are VERBALIZING a "prayer"...SEVERAL TIMES A DAY TO A ENTIRE POPULATION WITHIN EARSHOT.(MUSLIM OR NOT) Just because you cant understand the language DOES NOT make it any less offensive to those who dont want to be "preached at".

Thats the difference: "Bells" are a non-verbal sound which is also considered part of the traditional culture of this country for many Americans,like it or not.

Spin it anyway you want..The reality speaks for itself. This is just one more way for the Muslims to force their beliefs on others.

OUR tradition is freedom of religion. Conversion to Christianity is not a prerequisite for citizenship.

I have. What I have found is that because of tradition, many people take sunday off - especially small business owners who work in their shops the other 6 days of the week.

Sort of like how kids have summers off from school because of tradition? But hey, just because you can't go to some place you want to go to on a sunday (which is becoming more and more rare, these days) doesn't mean you are being indoctrinated into a religion.
