SAVE OUR BUTTS! (CNN SINKING)

For nearly two years CNN has lagged Fox News in overall ratings — and the prime time hours of 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. are no exception. In the second quarter to date, Fox News is averaging almost 1.6 million viewers in prime time, compared with 857,000 for CNN, according to Nielsen Media Research.

It's going to get worse for CNN I think. People are going more conservative IMO!

I turned on CNN to see what the coverage of Reagan was like... here I thought listening to Benveniste bloviating on NPR was bad! Sheesh even the Jamaican restaurant next to me has Fox News on all day.

Fox needs to learn to lose the graphics during events like today however. Since I wanted to see the proceedings without all of that garbage, I had to switch to MSNBC. Even CNN had the sense to leave most of theirs off.

CNN has infuriated people in the chow halls on bases in Iraq to the point that a lot of them run Sky News on the TVs in there instead now.

Well, CSpan right now is showing the lines of people going by Reagan live all night.
I was a bit on MS NBC because they stood with the service longer when Fox dropped the feed.
Then I did go to CNN to watch the interview with Bush 41 and wife. They were cute and George 41 is turning 80 this Sunday and jumping out of a perfectly good plane with a parachute SOLO!

CNN has very little to offer. Listening to a liberal station is like listening to an argument based on exclusively emotion that lacks logic. There is nothing to get out of them and you are not even entertained.

Look for them to be taken over within 2-3 years the way they are going.

Even better switch to C-SPAN. They have just their logo in the corner. They also eliminate the talking heads who are afraid the world will come to an end if their voices don't fill every second air time. I didn't need alphabet networks' talking heads to tell me the names of the famous people at the head of the line paying their last respects to President Reagan after the service.

Overhaul the prime-time lineup? They can't get rid of Larry King, and tossing out Newsnight would be a gigantic embarrassment to them. Of course, they could dump Paula Zahn's show tomorrow and it would take most people six weeks to notice.

Am I the only one who thinks that part of it is because CNN ABC NBC MSNBC and CBS split the same share of audience, while FOX captures a different one?

I gave up fighting CNN years ago. I used to fight via email with Connie....can't remember her last name...she was head of programming. The bottom line is that they know exactly what they're doing, promoting the extreme Leftist views. I don't think they realized how much it would cost them however. Good riddance.

The problem with CNN is that it is too filled with propaganda. They have become the laughingstock of the entire world and they're too dumb to figure it out.

My daughter works for CNN Atlanta ... the unfortunate result of liberal in-laws and her insistence on attending the UNC School of Journalism. She was trained to hate Fox News at UNC. Thankfully my other two are at South Carolina and the College of Charleston where they will received unbiased fair and balanced educations.

(Note: Laurie "Lips" Dhue is a UNC girl and Rita "Voice" Crosby is a USC (South Carolina) girl ... she needs to get the weight back off like the old days.)

Bush 41 is going to jump with some of my old Golden Knight buddies out in Arizona it sounds like? He's being doing that pretty regularly since he left office on his birthday although in the past he tandemed.

Fox News is winning because they have an opinion. Fair and Balanced they are ... but more importantly they have an opinion and they do their homework - they stimulate our interest. The networks are like watching mold grow and CNN is just about as bad. MSNBC is trying to emulate Fox but it is not working IMHO.

If ratings are any indication of voter preference, then we should win by a landslide this November.

CNN is probably banking on their World News outlets. After all, there are billions of them and only 300 million of us.

The money is in the overseas markets. The problem is when the overseas editorial slant seeps into the local coverage.

Unfortunetly it don't matter.

CNN became big by "Sensationalizing" Gulf war I in 1991. CNN now has gone global. They cater to the global viewer with CNNi, CNN Asia and it's European parts. CNN does not care if it alienates 10% of the US public since it has gained 50% internationally. Advertizing money from the Middle East or Europe is still money and they cater to them. They still want the US too, don't get me wrong. But a little loss domestically will just have to be accepted if that means an even larger gain in total viewers and advertising dollars from abroad. So, that's why they'll coninue to report the way they do. Because the Saudi, German or Sudanees wants to see that which he's fed by them. It's not about accuracy in reporting, it's about viewership globally and the $$$$ from them. Give the Frenchman the reality he's willing to watch anb hence the advertizes are willing to pay for.

So America will continue to have "Missed there opportunity to attack" since it was to hot and late in the summer. 3ID will have overstretched supply lines and get
"Bogged" down. The "Bloodiest" battle, the battle for Baghdad is now begining. The US still does not have "control" of Baghdad as the Information Secrtetary from Iraq put out via CNN. Of course all good that has been done in Iraq is not reported on. Why? Viewers don't care nor WANT to see that. CNN has whored itself out to at times being an unofficial press agent of a nation like Iraq under the Saddam Regime. They have done this all in the name of ratings (Globally) and are NOT an accurate nor professional news agency. All that matters is the "Perception" of perfessionalism. So they hire some people that are photogenic, have a deep voice and talk fast. Nice big elaborate TV newsroom is mandatory but what come out of the tube on the other end is sensationalistic trash. As US tanks already owned Baghdad and it was obvious as day, CNN gladley still brodcasted quotes from the Iraqi Information Secretary that now seem comical in retrospect. But the viewers in Russia, they saw and heard in part what they want to hear and see.

I don't know if it ever happened before on FNC, but during their Reagan funeral coverage, Brit Hume had to ask them to lose the graphics at the bottom of the screen for a few moments. People were returning to the line after the false alarm plane scare and due to the the camera angle, you could only see the Capitol and grounds but the people were covered up by the Fox News banner in the shot.

A lot of dinner table talk on the freeper cruise a couple weeks ago was about CNN International, received on our cabin TV sets via satellite.

ICNN is nothing like U.S. CNN. It's new coverage is made up of foreign correspondents (all with clipped accents) who bash the U.S. and its administration 24/7. Many of us cruisers couldn't bear to watch its anti-American programming. It's so blatant it really makes your hair stand on end.

It's my opinion that CNN has such a lucrative world-wide market that it doesn't care doodley-squat about its biased domestic agenda turning off a percentage of the American viewing public.
