"In order to maintain our credibility in all issues we declare that this statement that was attributed to us has no basis of truth," the statement said. It added that any statement in its name "that any statement that is not issued through our site doesn't represent us.

They don't want to kill this Marine,....they want to 'turn' him!

Big Propaganda stuff.......?

First off, I was USMC 1977 to 1981.

I saw th pic of this guy on Drudge myself.

His blindfold is too neat.
His uniform looks freshly pressed
His hair is too neat
His mouth is almost smiling.

I just think this is a staged abduction.

I hope I am wrong in one sense, for it will mean I judged the Marine wrong.

But if I am wrong, that means he was killed by scum.

But, If I am right, he is a deserter, just like the previous articles have stated.

He may be BOTH a deserter and a hostage.

he may be both a deserter and his abduction a hoax.

He just looks too comfortable in that photograph with the sword over his head.

That helicoper Mechanic from New Jersey looked nothing like that Marine looked. Neither did that Korean guy.

Something smells fishy here...

I am not convinced it is a backpedal.

I am just not convinced after I read this was a desertion from one Marine Officer's account.

Very very fishy. Don't forget, allah's laws override everything. Even an oath to be loyal to the Marines is meaningless, just another kuffar thing they need not take any notice of. I read an account somewhere recently, where a muslim member of the forces asked his imam before going to Iraq, if it was permissible.
Only if you do not kill muslims, was the reply.

There was a report, around the time this fellow went missing, that three US soldiers had been killed - in very strange circumstances. There had been no report to base of any action. They were found shot, their rifles and vests were missing. (Looking for the link.)

It's possible...

Here's a mention. Four bodies found. They did not report back to base...

Situation might indeed be as simple as the press reports indicate. Then again, I'd expect some more forthright reporting out of a CINC PAO office if that's the case.

I'll throw out a few other plausible scenarios. CT bait if you will.

Same MO seems to occur with all the recent beheadings over there. All the 'officer letter' crap regarding bravado and vengeance is BS,...simply bitter ramblings of a loser with a maturity level of a third grader. The real leadership in theater is of sterner stuff.

Now there does exist a high degree or value in 'information warfare' in that theater and in the interational press at present.

The Cpl with natural language skills, and appearance, and Muslim, all point to a high value intel resource in theater. (If he was Cpl, I'd think he'd be E-5 to E-6 material just be being in the right time and place.) His folks immigrated to the US, so AWOL reads very questionably.

If I had to form a team to locate WMD which were highly mobile, folks like the Cpl and Berg would seem ideal skilled resources for team members. If they disappeared, what better justification for disappearance than to demonize an enemy and indicate their demise was due to religious maniacs? That would cause discord in enemy ranks, give fellow Muslims a good reason to doubt their leadership, and if false, tend to grind on the attitude of arrogant terrorists to the point they might reveal their whereabouts.

On the other hand, if reports are true, then one really has to wonder about the girlfriend angle. Remember, these Islamic rules for beheading also would apply to a prostitute, so the girl and anybody encouraging her to prostitute herself are equally corrupt to that same Islamic vengeance. That logic, however, might not prevent a maniac cult from murder.

So IMHO, the press reports are consistant with immature persons possibly acting on either side, and perhaps neither fully revealed.

For these reasons, I'll opt to support legitimate authority of the Marines and their chain of command, and the new Iraqi government to pursue criminal bands of murderers.

Hopefully, leveler heads will prevail in each of those legitimate power structures to provided virtuous authority over their juniors.

I don't believe a Marine Officer would call a Marine enlisted man a deserter without giving his own name.

Captain Anonymous is a bit of fiction created by The New York Times and the charge of desertion has still yet to be confirmed by the Marine Corps itself.

As for the clean and pressed uniform, what marine goes out on a date looking like a dirtbag.

Yeah I know this Marine is a muslim, the last time I checked that is still not a crime and he still isn't guilty of anything other then a little tail chasing for which he may have been killed for.

Thanks for the support....I have been attacked because I dare think that a Marine could go bad....he's a MUSLIM that went missing after suspect circumstances.

Mr. Kerry:

Good post. However:

"Now if we are suggesting they kill every man woman and child followed by razing and salting the eath of (presumably) Fallujah, please present a candidate that espouses your view and get them elected."

I don't know where you got this from. I never advocated or implied any such thing. Either you are demonstrating your supreme arrogance or appalling ignorance. It appears that you are not on planet Earth.

"It's measured military doctrine and if it frustrates you it's because you're not engaged in rational thought."

I admit, it's hard to be engaged in rational thought when you have a loved one there, in Iraq. I was posting this frurstration, that's all. We tend to do that on FR, and, although we may not all be as intellectually gifted as you, it helps us deal with frustration and stress. If my comments offend your old womanly sensitivities, well then, tough sh#t.

Your "colonel."

I have serious doubts he is just an abduction.

However, I will not fault another Marines opinion that a Marine would not do such things.

It is the height of treason for a member of a special branch to commit treason, and that means we least expect it from another Marine. However, it does happen that Marines go UA, and that may be the case here.

He went US in wartime, though, and not at home by missing movement or staying aat a new girls house when you are supposed to ship out, this guy went UA in a COMBAT area, that smacks of Robert Garwood! Vietnam TRAITOR!

Old women would be the last people you want in charge of making a reasoned decision in the military/political arena. They would be your best friend. Two groups you don't pretend to reason with in matters of warfare: Old Women and Romulans....and Armchair Generals on FR

I am grateful that I was not in charge of decision making after 9-11. Why? Because I would have screwed the pooch much like most of the armchair generals around here. You don't do your best work when you're blinded by rage.
