Track Specs: 2.45-mile paved road course. It has 11 turns with a variety of banking in turns ranging from 6 degrees to 10 degrees. The length of the frontstretch is 2,150 feet and the length of the backstretch is 2,600 feet.

Qualifying: 1 lap for positions 1-38, Friday, August 13 at 3:10pm/et, TV-Speed Channel live, re-air 8:00pm/et and 2:00am/et, live via radio at MRN Radio and XM Satellite NASCAR Radio.

Big news about Jeff Burton today. My youngest daughter (age 9) is a big Jeff fan and doesn't know whether to be happy he has a regular sponsor now or bummed out that all her "99" gear is outdated. (We just got her a 99 flag *last week*!) A Rousch Racing exec was really charming to her when we went shopping at the CA Speedway on race day earlier this year and he spotted her in a 99 hat (not a lot of those around!) so she felt bad because of that, too. But at least he's got a definite "ride" all set now :).

This will get many of you upset. But I can't stand Jeff Gordon for many reasons. What a prima donna. "The driver most likely to be labeled girlyman." He couldn't be seen near a bottle of Coke. Same for Johnson. While I enjoy the sport, I have no respect for the management.

Won't be watching any NASCAR this weekend. I've got tickets and pit passes for the Beltera 400 in Ky. It's a IRL race with an Infinity race on Saturday. As much as I like watching the taxis trade paint, my favorite racing will always be open wheel.

Good Morning GR. Went to the cardiologist yesterday and they started cutting back on my meds. BP is running 145/65. The leg is still healing but the chest wound is doing fine.

I'm going to the 50th reunion at the Samoa Drag Strip tomorrow. 50 years of near continuous races at the amateur level. The strip is across Humboldt Bay from Eureka and just 50 yards from the ocean. I attended as a spectator in 54 but in 55 I was racin a 55 Chevie with a stick shift with a rare BW overdrive transmission.
