Prayer Thread For My Daughter.
self | self

Posted on 08/29/2004 7:43:53 PM PDT by Little Bill

My Daughter is suffering from a long term illness, mental. They have reached the limit that they can do with drugs, at this point.

They are proposing that she be institutionalized, long term care. She is a vibrant young lady, whom I love as life itself. I do not wish to see her as another drugged up drone in an institution.

I will be praying. Our God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think . . .

Thanks Jim, I hate to ask for things for me, Sin of Pride, but not asking is a Sin of Pride also, sometimes being a Christian is like being a rat, getting caught in contradictions.

Thanks, Bill

I just came back from the Throne of Grace. I prayed that God will be glorified and you strengthened by His intervention on your daughter's behalf.

Take heart, the things that they are doing with psychopharmacology are remarkable these days. But that isn't news so you don't hear about it. Keep hoping and praying.
My prayers for you and your family.

Contact the National Institute of Mental Health. They might be able to put you in touch with a clinical researcher working with your daughter's condition. Don't give up even if your local docs are out of ideas.

Asking for help is no sin of pride. Quite the opposite.

May God's will be done.

The problem that she faces is that she is a charity patient, she was seperated from her husband who defaulted on her insurance payments. I have been purchasing her drugs, but the stuff they are recommending is out of my league.

So sorry that you have reached this point in both your lives. It is doubly tragic that modern medicine really has so little to offer.

The only thing I can suggest that would make your life easier is to think of this illness as something that you cannot control, no matter how much you want to, no matter how hard you try.

I, like many people, have a medical condition that cannot be controlled through positive thinking, being strong, looking on the bright side, and any other way that we are taught to cope with disease.

I can deal with my diseases easier by eating right and getting more exercise, but that won't make them go away. The worst is rheumatoid arthritis, which may eventually put me in a wheel chair, and at present is just making it hard to walk.

It's not imaginary. It's not due to negative thinking. It is what it is, and there's not a whole lot I can do about it, except take a lot of pills.

God gives me strength. God answers prayers.

God goes what God does, and I don't know why. So I have surrendered to God, a higher power, and say "Thy will be done. Not my will, but Thy will. Amen."
