The election is still a week off, but President Bush's camp is making strong predictions about the outcome.

Insiders tell us that the Bush-Cheney polling team believes that the president will win re-election 50 percent to 47 percent.

Call me crazy, but I don't buy skeptic 14's poor job approval rating in the swing states theory. Secondly,a 3% difference in the straw vote can mean a huge margin of difference in the electoral college.

To all the chicken littles at there, if you think the sky is falling, go hide under a rock.

Encouraging, but does anyone have the polling data at this time in 2000?

I am still haunted by the Rasmussen and RealClear Politics predictions which are sitting in my filing cabinet.

I think the surprise will be the black vote. Try to name one nationally respected Democratic black American?

3% other makes no sense.

The other may be an agregate of the various minor party candidates, ie, Nader, the Communist candidate (not meaning Kerry), the Socialist Workers Party, etc. If Nader generally only polls 1%, it's likely that the multitude of others totals 2%.

Just my theory.

The Kerry/Edwards campaign's worst fear is that polls will show decisively for Bush/Cheney

I heard a little of Bob Brinker's Money Talk show today. He was talking about the poll that had one day results showing a 50%-43% Bush lead. He opined that he can't think of anything that will allow sKerry to pull it out. Brinker has a hugh national audience that crosses the political spectrum. I was happy to hear him carry on like that. Especially since last week he said that there are "warmongers" in the Bush administration who wanted to invade Iraq no matter what.

Where's the remaining 3%? Nader can't get of 1%.

It reflects the rest of the candidates from the Libertarian, Constitution and independent parties, not to mention the commies and other fringe wackos.

He just did one for Hannity(on tomorrow I think) - and already Kerry is picking it apart. President Bush said something on the terrorist - that issue again. Something about being completely safe - but I don't see that as close to what Kerry has been doing. These Socialist Democrat jump on anything - and turn things around to fit into their aim - The socialist want to destroy America any way they can -

They will never let up - even with a clear victory for President Bush in the election - so best get ready for the mud they sling -

just my thoughts - take care now -

Dan Rather was on the CBS radio predicting a Bush landslide of 420 electoral votes on the morning of Election Day 2000.

Could have been that the early exit polls were off that day..

I'm thinking 51 Bush to 47 Kerry to 1 Nader to 1 Others.

But, because Bush is doing a lot better in New York and New Jersey, the outcome in the Electoral College is iffy. Because his support, this year, is more evenly spread out, Bush could win the popular vote by more than the 0.5 percent margin that Gore won the popular vote in the last election, and lose in the Electoral College.

If Bush retains Florida and Ohio, fine. There are even reasonable scenarios adding up to a Bush victory if he loses, say, Ohio, the most obvious involving Iowa and Wisconsin. This means we have to get out the vote in every Battleground State, to make sure we actually win every state we're presumed to win, we win every or almost every state we're even slightly ahead in, and we win at least a few states that Kerry is slightly ahead in.

Who knows, maybe we'll win because of Hawaii's 4 electoral votes, or Delaware's 3, or the 1 electoral vote associated with Maine's 2nd Congressional District.

Who knows, maybe we'll take Pennsylvania and Michigan and the Presidency, while losing Florida and Michigan due to voter fraud and Democrat lawyers. Hopefully, in this kind of scenario, we can follow-up with criminal prosecutions.

Good gravy. I say let them post. Who cares? I have no problem defending conservative ideas against a liberal. The vast majority of them have no more depth than a bumpersticker slogan, and F9111 paranoia. Let them post. Let all of them post.

Why are they posting, do you s'pose? Do conservatives invest the extra five minutes to register on DU to post invective? God I hope not. Let the losers post here. If they get too out of hand, ban them. Otherwise, let them post.

“Yeah, except that Bush is still under 50% approval in every single swing state. That's really, really bad and in fact, no president has ever pulled off a successful re-election polling where he is at right now....so what, do we believe that this guy can walk on water. I'm sorry, I think, in fact, I know, he's going to lose”

You are a desperate piece of cow dung. Do you think posting your propaganda will change any minds on this forum you troll. This forum is not for the linguini spine liberals... or did someone forget to tell u??

This is great news. Someone needs to go to DailyKos because they are saying someone from inside the Republican Party is very worried because they are polling so low on in house polls. Guess he's just trying to make his camp feel better and keep the momentum up.
