***Operation 4 More Years - Situation Room - Day 1 - LIVE THREAD***
Various | 2 November 2004 | Various

Posted on 11/02/2004 2:48:56 AM PST by An.American.Expatriate

As I and many of my fellow expatriates are often hard pressed to get any non-biased information from the media (we are often stuck with CNN-International!!), I have decided to start this thread in the tradition of the Operation Iraqi Freedom Situation Room threads.  I hope this meets with the approval of Jim & John and the Admin guys . . .

The purpose of this thread is to be a place to collect information from all sources into one area for discussion.  Specific threads for specific topics and cross linking are highly encouraged.

"The Amish are arriving in droves."

YES! The Amish are under the radar cuz polling doesn't pick them up. If possible, if you or anyone else has information/observations on the voting strength/turnout of the Amish, I (and probably others) would be very interested in hearing them. They vote heaviest in OH and PA, and could make the difference if it is very very close.

Oddly, I also find a lot of Americans who actually know a lot about Canada.
I lived in St. Sauvier and St. Adele (north of Montreal) for the better part of a year in the late 1980s. The food and scenery were great but a large percentage of the people were possessed of a victim mentality and did not have a very good work ethic.

Arrived at polling place. Dropped the bicycle outside the door.

Spent 10 minutes in line. Small talked with neighbors. Thought derogatory thoughts about the few obvious RATS.

Took all of five seconds to vote and check my dot for placement and neatness.

Exited the building. Bike was still there when I left. (Do not try this in your 'hood. ;O) :-D

No doubt they are conservative, but aren't the Amish super anti-war as well?

Unfortunately, Floridian voters don't look like maggot-infested rock 'n roller types. They look like little old FDR widows in tennis shoes, bitter retired sewer workers from NYC, and like the pretty, well-groomed young lady who cut my hair the other day and complained about "all the good jobs are being outsourced to India" and "Bush got us into a war we can't get out of".

Florida does not have much of a stable, year-round population. Losers, whiners, immigrants, drifters and free-loaders abound.

My county (Pasco) went about 50/50 last election with a slight edge to Gore. Nevertheless, I expect a slight edge to Bush this time around and look for the state to go to our President....but by how much I can't predict.

OBTW, in my exit polling, Bush-Cheney-Coburn got 100% of the vote (sample size = 2, my wife and me)

My exit poll was similar -- 2 Bush, 2 Bataglia (Dump Betty McCollum).

Just got back from the polls. That was easy.....voted for NO dems, and voted YES to make marriage between a man and woman. This is in Georgia, BTW. I saw way too many people that were too stupid to be allowed in the voting booth.

The Amish are arriving in droves.

Oh, I hope someone gets some pictures. That would be a sight to behold.

I saw a documentary about TV commericals. Eisenhower had the first presidential campaign commercial.

"I Like Ike,
You Like Ike,
Everybody Likes Ike!"

With the experience of having to color in thirty-eight, that's 38, bubbles on a mangled cardboard stand-up "polling place," I half wish California had "straight ticket voting."

Just got back voting voting in the whitebread northern suburbs of Atlanta (Alpharetta to be exact). Got in line at 6 a.m. and was about 50th in line. After the polls opened at 7 it took about 20 minutes to complete the entire process. Very efficiently run. When I left there were about 300+ people outside in the drizzle.

Another interesting note as I drove to work, I saw about 30 Bush/Cheney people standing on various street corners waving signs. Interesting in that Georgia is not in doubt and especially that part of Atlanta. If that operation is indicative of the ground operations in swing states, i feel good.

One additional point to you Tar Heel Bushie, thanks to UNC for beating Miami the other night. I'm an Auburn guy so I loved to see them lose so we could move up. War Damn Tarheels! ;-)

Much fewer this election year due to Father Time. The demographics here are changing rapidly. Many of the retirement villages are now majority Hispanic. A different dynamic is now at work here.

If You See or Hear About Vote Fraud, Call the Deptartment of Justice at 202-514-2000

If You See or Hear About Vote Fraud, Call the Department of Justice at 202-514-2000

Ask to speak with an attorney at the Voting Rights Division, and explain that you have specific information.

Also, you may contact the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov/

Of course, it helps to have a camera to catch them in action.
