Blogs Blamed for Exit Poll Fiasco
AP ^ | 11.03.04

News organizations promised Wednesday to look into why their Election Day exit polls showed an initial surge for John Kerry, but also blamed bloggers for spreading news that gave a misleading view of the presidential race. The exit poll data was delivered at several points Tuesday to ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox News Channel and The Associated Press by the National Election Pool, a company formed in the wake of the networks' blown calls on election night 2000.... The Florida and Ohio exit poll results, along with those in other states where Kerry was strong, was quickly disseminated on websites such as Slate, the Drudge Report, Wonkette.com, Atrios.blogspot.com and Command Post. Some of these sites cautioned readers not to make too much of the information. The Command Post delivered the news under the headline "Grain of Salt." Drudge removed the numbers almost as quickly as they were posted. And Slate warned: "These early exit poll numbers do not divine the name of the winner."

Oh pulleze. It's the bloggers, they wear pajama's, it's Kerry's demenor, Kerry wasn't clear enough, the right wingers are nuts with power, it's the stupidity of the conservatives, it's joe blow farmer and hillybilly bob's fault, it's the born again Christians, it's the republican's lies, blah blah blah blah blah. I've heard it all today.

It's the total lack of credibility the Democrats have as a result of poor choices in candidates, policies, value systems, patriotism and lifestyles. Ta Da.

Isn't campaigning Republican against the law?

The bloggers were provided the information by the Kerry operatives!

I was asked why I would close my business to be a poll watcher in the state of Maryland. My answer was plain and simple to get the popular vote up for our President. Between precints I heard the exit polling information on the radio and actually started shaking. When the runner came to pick up our lists of voters he said ignore what you heard and keep working! Obviously, it was a ground war and I thank God for the grace he gave all of us to be determined to get our President elected. Thank you to all of the FReepers who kept my spirits up during the weeks leading up to the election! I am glad to be back to FreeRepublic.....

Never let your guard down! These people will become even more creative in the next election. With the help of the media they will look for ways to sway public thinking and change the course of the election.

You are not looking at this correctly. The Bloggers are responsible for the election fiasco from the libs perspective.

The exit polling data was the last October 33 surprise designed to suppress Conservative voters.

It didn't work because the bloggers blew it out of the water.

Come again? The pollsters release their findings directly to the media (ALL the media), and the bloggers caused the problem? Earth to AP . . .?

Radio Mambi, the Cuban Radio Station in Miami cancelled its regular programming and went on a non-stop telethon imploring the Cuban community to overwhelmingly vote for Bush.

Muchas gracias, amigos.

Rush Limbaugh said today that the "cooked" data was first leaked to places like MoveOn.org.

They will try to blame it on the bloggers.

It isn't going to work, because the networks paid to get the same faulty numbers.

Good for the Miami Cuban community! It's wonderful that the false reports ironically helped GOTV efforts there---the lying spinmeisters didn't reckon with conservative pluck. I think Bush knows that he owes a huge debt of gratitude to conservative radio across the country.

Sure the lunatic lefties who masterminded the bad Exit polls and the lefty A$$holes in charge of the NoNews at FNC/ABCNNBCBS are now blaming the internet.

This whole thing was a criminal scam that was well planned and organized.

It started the evening before the election the Zog made his last poll which predicted a disaster for GW. (The serial liar, the Zog is now trying to deny what he said and posted before he denied it.)

Then the left wing VPs in charge of lies/spins and miss information released the polls to their phoney news people at FNC/ABCNNBCBS. Throughout the day every screaming head on tv used those phoney polls to gang bang GW and tell America that he lost the election before any votes were counte.

Now the pollsters and FNC/ABCNNBCBS are trying to blame the bloggers for their Rathering Fraudcast performance on election day.

America needs none of these lying bastards. Send them all to France to lie about America where they will be appreciated.

Dick Morris wrote that from a technical perspective this did not look like an innocent mistake, but a deliberate ploy.

I thought we drove a stake through the heart of VNS after the Florida 2000 fiasco. Maybe we should try a silver bullet on this reincarnation of Frankenstein.

The bloggers could not have done it. Not one person reported anyone wearing pj's outside polling places.

Morris like me feels that this was a well planned attempt to electronically defeat GW by driving us away from the polls.

When our new congress is sworn it will time to investigate this whole mess. Then they can wrap it up with airtight penalties for voter fraud.

It is obvious that the rat party is not capable of winning an election without voter fraud and electronic fraudcasting like this mess on Tuesday.

This must have been posted somewhere else, but Michael Barone, on Brit Hume's program, said he thought an exit poll employee had tipped a Democrat operative who organized a "slamming" of the polls. That is to say that people were directed to walk out of polling places and skew results by snswering in a certain way. The participants were not necessarily legit voters.

If this has already been discussed, pardon me. This is the first time since Monday I've spent any time at old friend FR

Hadn't heard about that. The story I got was that the polls were not representative samples; they were instead taken exclusively in the inner city and weighted with 60% women and 40% men voters. Not at all representative of the rural or suburban polling places, and definitely not representative of the gender make-up of voters.

In short, the Leftists tried to skew the early results and it backfired on 'em...big time.
