I understood that Kay Bailey Hutchison was interested in running for the Governor of Texas.

I don't believe Bill Nelson of Florida is vulnerable because he runs to the center and has voted with Republicans a lot. I would depend on who the Republicans nominated. If it was Jeb Bush, then yes, Nelson would be very vulnerable.

What about Katherine Harris?

What would be better is they all accept and resign and then get the senate to veto them, like what happened to Weld.

Actually, Byrd is already 86 and will be 87 on November 20. If he gets re-elected twice more and doesn't die in office, he could beat Strom's record for longevity. In fact in his next term he would pass Strom's record for length of service in the Senate. I can't imagine him retiring voluntarily unless totally incapacitated...he's too much in love with himself and with the soapbox the Senate provides to slander the President.

Katherine Harris barely (I think) won her seat in the House this year. She's a lightening rod in FL for democRATS.

I hope you're wrong about Rudy, because if he ends up on the ticket in 08 it will serve as proof that, not ony do the democrats not get it, but the republicans dont either. The country is conservative. Rudy is not. We need to take the spotlight off him now, before this thing goes to far.

Great idea.

Wait until the Republican governors recommend their replacements. When the new Republican Senators are swornin , they and other Republican Senators can recall and rescind the appointment of each traitor.

The only way Byrd or Kennedy are going to be defeated is through death. Considering their age, that is very likely.

"Katherine Harris barely (I think) won her seat in the House this year. She's a lightening rod in FL for democRATS."

Anyone who considers a 10 point victory 'barely' a win is on crack. Katherine Harris clearly doesn't fear the democrats, why do you?

Perhaps the poster thought that Robert C. Byrd might retire to spend time with his dog "Billy" before Billy dies!!!!

Also Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC, is often bragging about his close working relationship with Hillary.

Absolutely true! It all depends on how much success the President will have in the tax and medicare issues

And he better quit being the invisible man and use the Bully Pulpit and go over the MSM heads

If he doesn't they will skewer his tax and SS and Medicare ideas

I agree with your analysis: virtually none of the 2006 incumbents look vulnerable, but perhaps a couple won't run, maybe Dayton in MN, and of course Hutchison in TX may seek the governorship. I am sure that Robert C. Byrd and EMK will continue to run. If Hutchison opposes Rick Perry in the gubernatorial primary, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst would be the favorite to win the Senate seat.

Move Lincoln Chafee from "Somewhat vulnerable" to "OUTTA HERE". He is a RINO disgrace.

This guy needs to be challenged in a primary. Unfortunately, the people of R.I. love RINO disgraces.

I'm committed to the defeat of Hillary and putting up a good Republican challenger in '06 despite the odds...

We should have gone after Schumer this time around. We didn't do it.

I don't agree that Herb Kohl is vulnerable...

Unless maybe if Tommy Thompson decides to run.

Unfortunately, Kennedy is safe. Liver failure is the only way he'll leave office. Byrd may retire or die before 2006. Clinton my not choose to run if she's planning on taking a shot at the Oval Office in 2008. A presidential run takes about two years. The less time she serves in the Senate the better off she is. Feinstein is safe, too. The people of Cali love her. If they can talk Arnold into running against her, she might be in some trouble, but I really don't see her losing her seat otherwise. Corzine might be in some trouble. NJ is covered in a Dem ick because of their gov., and Corzine failed miserably as the chair of the Dems for Senate org.

Jeffords? I don't think he's in too much trouble. He screwed the GOP, but I don't think that matters to the voters in his state.

All the GOP Sens. you listed as likely to be defeated, I think are safe except for Lugar maybe, but Frist will win. Hutchison will win. Lott will win, and if Hatch decides not to retire, he'll win.
