When the bogus exit polls began coming in on Tuesday, they were a jarring shock to everyone following the presidential campaign on all sides. Returning from Texas to the White House, administration officials on Air Force One reportedly became sickened at the prospect of a vast landslide against President Bush. The president, however, was quoted as saying upon learning this news: "It is what it is."

The exit polls were 'salted' by the lib media, interviewing likely sKerry voters hoping to start a stampede.
Great point. But it was Bill Sammon of the Wash. Times, not a CNN reporter.
Hey, kdoc. Good post. Reminds me of the Pope's alleged comments after watching Mel Gibson's The Passion. Weren't they something like, "It is as it was." Anyway, heard you guys enjoyed T's wedding. We enjoyed the leftovers. :)
Is that your graphic? Because I think it should be "Get useD to it". :)
I was NEVER worried about W winning. ALL the polls except one had him ahead right up until election day. I knew he was going to win and really didn't worry at all. I am SO GLAD!!
I didnt watch TV on election night so the exit poll fiasco passed me by, thank God.
I got the up to the minute actual poll results right here on the internet...
LOL, thanks. I am fixing it now. Long hours make for a weak mind. I rushed through the graphic because was I fed up with all the whinning on the left.
When I heard that Mississippi was tied, I knew the polls were bulls***. I was of good cheer for the rest of the day.
President Bush is a genuine and deeply good man.
I didn't know anything about those early exit polls because I was working the polls. I'm actually glad that I didn't know what was going down.
I have to agree. The moderators were wonderful, and Free Republic hummed like a well-oiled machine. I congratulate them and Jim Robinson for Free Republic's excellent election coverage.
I have heard liberal after liberal do a public melt down on talk radio programs and on some of the cable shows citing all sorts of conspiracy theories, but their charges sound utterly ridiculous. Yet the many conspiracy theories rarely seemed too bizarre or far fetched when applied to Bill Clinton. Clinton changed the democrats for the worst or perhaps he just took them farther down the road they were already walking. Is his legacy and character also true of those Democrats who would be president?
The difference between Gore, and to a lesser degree Kerry, and President Bush is quite remarkable.
With regard to President Bush, others have used the word "class". Amen to that. President Bush is a very classy man. I think about the personal demons he has battled, alcohol, failure in business, and especially all of the vile that was sent his way during this recent campaign and I know that he has been challenged in ways that would try the strongest of us all. Yet, he is and remains a decent human being.
With Clinton, many could relate to him as he stumbled and succumbed to temptation and his personal weaknesses, but we really couldn't respect him. As I struggle with my own personal demons, I think about President Bush, not the office he holds, but rather the character he embodies, and I know he is a better man than I am. But...I don't hate him for that. I look up to him.
In our last two presidential elections, the best man won and we are a better country for it. It's a shame the democrats are so lost in their hatred that they are unable to see it. Truly, there is none so blind as he who will not see.
"Bush took it far better than I."
Me too. I had a bad feeling going into Election Day. It seemed like there had been nothing but bad news for the last 5 weeks. The first debate - while I thought he did ok - the Media gave victory to Kerry. And then in the following debates W. did not score any knock-outs. The body count from Iraq kept going up - and the good news from there never saw the light of day. And then the flu vaccine "shortage" was made into a major debacle. It seemed like the last major good news that we had was when CBS got nailed for MEMO-gate.
Coming into November, I admit - I had my doubts and lost faith that W. could win. The constant pounding by the MSM just seemed too much for W. to recover from. Then the exit polls came out. I figured that the first ones, early in the day, would have some bias against W. But then they kept coming - and not getting any better. I became resigned that Kerry would win.
And then it happened. W won. We won. We even picked up some seats in the Senate. Wow!
W. had not worried. I think that he was asked a few weeks back about what he would do if he lost. Instead of giving the response that most politicians give: "I am going to win." - he said that if he lost he would go back to Texas and work on his ranch. Humble. Contrast that to: "Move to a state that we never lived in and have Laura run for the Senate."
W. is confident in himself and he does not waver. He does what he believes and believes in what he does. That is why the left hate him so. And also why they hate Rummy, Cheney, Ashcroft, and the other true believers in the administration.
The country came close to electing a President that would have been a disaster. Kerry is about as opposite of Bush as you can get. We must not forget how close it was - and use that to motivate us in the future.
"It is what it is." - Thanks W.
"It is what it is". A patriot and a gentleman who holds the most powerful job in the world willing to accept that his countrymen do not agree with the way he is doing that job and accepting their wishes that someone else take the helm.
"It depends on what the meaning of 'is' is". A self serving, selfish, womanizing man who holds the most powerful job in the world trying to ad-lib his way out of trouble and in the process violating the law by lying under oath.
Ditto. I had to fly to Kauai to pick up my wife.(after voting of course) We went to a party there and spent the night. I didn't hear any results until we got back home on Wednesday.
It was a bad trip. Be glad you missed it.
This shows how much difference there is between W. and his predecessor and two opponents. Bush sought the office of President because he wanted TO LEAD, the others did so because they wanted to be famous.
He truly walks the walk, something the left just doesn't seem to get. They are entirely too shallow for that.
On another note, I'm so glad that I spent the afternoon and early evening hours at a junior high football game and missed the so-called exit polls. Not being as classy or faithful as our president, I would have been a nervous wreck. By the time the game was over the results were already looking good. I guess someone up high was taking care of me that night, too!
