A good journalistic effort is needed to get to the bottom of this. The videos show the murder of innocents by French troops, if for no other reason than "crowd control".

BET has a unique cultural perspective from which to investigate these attrocities.

i've heard a few different stats. i do think i heard 60 dead, dont remember where. can anyone second that one? if that is the case the different numbers reported would add to the questionning of the accuracy of what really happened.

So what? The USA (under Bush) helped the mostly Muslim Liberian rebels over the mostly Christian dictatorship in Liberia. Pat Robertson went on a tear on this a few months ago.

Secondly, since the website in question is resisting the UN/French peacekeeping efforts - what it says is suspect. Video images are easily manipulated to gain support.

The videos DOES NOT show the murder of innocents by French troops. You see Frnch troops in position - cut to dead bodies on the ground. That is all.

You're right, and the French military soon admitted killing "some" people when shooting at the crowd, but they said the demonstrators had guns!

Did anyone see any Ivorian demonstrator with a gun? Where?

Good enough. Machine gunning unarmed civilians who, from what I could see were peacefully assembled. You tell me - it is being done by our cultural betters, the french...

I am not implying anything by it, but you obviously are,which would put your own objectivity in question. I was reporting the facts for peole who are not familiar with the conflict. But this comment by you certainly brings light unto the rests of your posts. Once again regarding this incident of french soldiers shooting civilians there is no question at all. And I believe that the Ivory Coast filed a complaint with the UN last week. The burning UN vehicle has been shown on TV on CNN around the 7-8 th of November.

This clip is an example of the problem we have with the media "filter." I, through my inattention to this issue, partly blame myself for my ignorance.

However, there is no question that the French have gotten a pass here while Abu Garaib (sp?) has become a four letter word. JMHO

Do you notice that silvery thing that bisects the photo? That is a gun. I am not well versed in gunhood to give you a make or model, but slow-mo shows that as something that looks like a .45.

In the video it is clear that it is something dangling from the camera. It shows up frequently as the camera pans down. To me it looks like a lens cover on a lanyard, except it's rectangular...
