Can anyone here find a link/article to where it says Artest hit the wrong fan, and the guy he went after wasn't the one who threw the beer?
Thanks
Don't know if it's been published yet but it was on ESPN. They iterviewed a guy who was trying to hold Artest back who had seen who threw it and knew it wasn't the guy Artest was beating on.
He in fact said that as Artest was hitting the guy he was yelling "Was it you?"
Artest his A fan period.
So in addition to all of the lawsuits fans will be filing we can add one against ESPN for slander too.
I was just wondering, because I'm listening to Mike Gallagher and he's making me sick.
Apparently he thinks it's okay to just go swinging punches at every innoncent fan in the crowd.
Sorry no link but I believe I heard Brian Kilmeade (sp) mention exactly that on Fox & Friends this morning.
Sales of Artest's rap album are going to be through the roof.
Yeah. White guys other than the refs will finally be getting paid by the NBA again.
Artest will definitely get the time off to promote his album now, just like he wanted.
Read that in this mornings "comPost"...I think it was in the Wilbon column.
When I was young and growing up, basketb all players were the most educated and polite athletes.
Now they are worse than hockey players for thuggery, violence and crudity.
My daughter saw the pics of Jakcson, Arteste and Wallace and asked why those 'Joaners' were on TV. She said you can always tell a joaner by their constant scowl unless authorities are considering punishing them, then they play the 'I'm an innocent by-stander' card, and then the 'you're just picking on me' card.
I asked what a 'Joaner' was and she made it pretty clear it wasnt a racial thing, but these were the kids always in trouble at school, cutting lines, and beating up other kids. I asked why the kids dont defend themselves and she said that you would still get in trouble for fighting, and since no one wanted to have to hear the Joaners squawking, they always get away with their shenanigans.
'The Joaners rule now, Dad. Dont know what it was like when you were in school.'
Well, the filth dominating basketball is only doing so because the NBA decided to let the 'stars' get away with any rule infraction like traveling and not throwing out people for starting fights.
Now it is just a gutter sport, IMO, and I do not encourage any of my kids to watch it or discuss it at all.
The guy he attacked was taunting him. If I were Artest, I would have assumed it was the jerk who was taunting me.
Bye-bye Pacers season.
I'm not defending his actions. I think he, Jackson and O'Neal should all be suspended for the season.
Why doesn't anyone talk about the idiot who threw the first punch (only got a 6 game suspension)... I think his actions were way beyond the fray, and what started the whole thing.
The "acceptable level" of violence in sport is horrifying.
Who cares? Those players (and any fans involved) need to be arrested, jailed, prosecuted, and sent to prison, and the players need to be banned from basketball for LIFE to send a much needed, and long overdue message. After all, we've got it on tape this time around. It should be a "slam dunk" IF we can prevent fans, coaches, owners, the media, etc. from CONTINUING to kiss the ass of these overpaid, self-indulgent, self-important, immature and ignorant thugs.
I don't think he was taunting him.. I think he was cheering on the raucus on the court, just like the other 20,000 people in the crowd were doing. I don't even think he saw Artest until his fist was in his face.
I'll try to defend my point using the Iraq war. The US put up with Iraq for years after the first Gulf War. Not taking a firm action, just brushing it off. Until finally, we had enough, we went to war. Artest has had cups and other things thrown at him on more than one occasion throughout his career. He might have deserved it, but that's not really the point. Finally, he just snapped. You can't expect everybody to sit back and take the abuse forever. He's still human. I still think he should have been suspended though. I just don't think the rest of the season is appropriate. I was thinking more like 15 games. Just my opinion.
espn had a roundtable discusion saturday evening. everyone of their announcers agreed it was all the fan's fault, and the players were justified in beating the crap out of the fans.
