I think a benefit to the elections is that the Iraqi people had to be brave to vote, to do so in great numbers, and take the risks, this will give them "ownership" so to speak of their freedom. Saving face seems to be a big deal over there. Hating Americans another popular hobby. By earning their own freedom by voting, maybe the anti-american rhetoric will die down. Its not as bad as the media would want us to believe, but over years perhaps we will see real genuine gratitude.

I had tears in my eyes yesterday watching these folks vote for the first time in their lives. Something we take so calously for granted.
All I can think of is the Soldier/Sailor/Airman/Marine, now or 30 years from now, who can tell his grandchild how he helped to free a country.
Nothing is more noble.
Nothing is more evil than the likes of Teddy Kennedy/John Kerry/Nancy Pelosi/Barbara Boxer hoping this day would never come.
BLIMP MAN, would not even know if they did until the day he is sober enough to see clearly, so it could be years if ever.
So, wait. In Iraq, to make sure you don't vote twice, they dip your finger in ink?
All this talk about how difficult it is (in the US) to combat voter fraud...why don't we just do what the Iraqis are doing?
