STATE OF THE UNION -- 2005 [Live Thread]
2/2/05

Posted on 02/02/2005 3:43:44 PM PST by Timeout

The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.

Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).

Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.

Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.

Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.

I can say without a hint of hyperbole: this was Bush's finest speech.

I do not envy the poor sucker who has to rebut THAT.

When the Dems start their rebuttal, I think I will go from cheering the SOTU to yelling STFU.

I'm crying my head off. That Iraqi woman hugging the mom who lost her son who said "It's my turn to protect you."

It would take a hard heart to deny Iraqis their chance at freedom.

What a wonderful, meaningful speech.

Did he kiss or shake hands with Cynthia McKinney on the way out, or did he snub her?

President Bush sure has become a fabulous president these last four years. Back in 2000, he wouldn't have been able to give a speech such as this one....since 9/11 he has given several.

I'm glad that he started out talking about domestic issues and ended up talking about foreign affairs and freedom. Such a moving speech!

I LOVE that we have a president that can shed a tear and still be the most macho man to ever hold the office of president!

I imagine some democrat speech hack was scribbling rewrites like a madman.

OR

The speece was leaked to the Dems and they have a point for point "attack"

Anything the democrats say agains this OUTLINED CONTENTS of this speech, will only make the Democrat ("gay") Party look and feel French.

Wonderful speech, does anyone know who wrote it?

I do know that GW never gives a speech which he doesn't edit, approve of and make his own.
