Vice President Dick Cheney likely will step down next year due to health reasons and be replaced by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, according to a report by geopolitical expert Jack Wheeler.
On his website, To the Point, Wheeler reports there's a "red-breasted rumor bird" flying around Capitol Hill that has whispered the same thing to most congressional committee chairmen.
"We all know that Dick Cheney has been the best vice president of modern times, perhaps in American history," one such chairman told Wheeler. "And we know that he absolutely will not run for president in 2008. Further, he has an unfortunate history of heart trouble. So let's just say none of us will be surprised if, sometime next year, he will step down from the vice presidency due to his health."
Continued the source: "Should this happen, President Bush would need to appoint his replacement, just as Richard Nixon chose Gerald Ford to replace Spiro Agnew. It is quite clear to us whom the president would choose should he need to: Condoleezza Rice."
Wheeler goes on to analyze what such a scenario would mean for the 2008 presidential election.
Writes Wheeler: "Being a sitting vice president places Condi in an impregnable position for the GOP nomination in 2008 and sucks every breath of wind from Hillary's sails. Historically, it's hard for a party to keep the White House after they've had it for eight years. This is George Bush and Dick Cheney's way to buck history – and make it."
Serving as Bush's national security adviser during his first term, Rice took over the State Department last month.

However, I'm not that happy with Condi's spouting puppet master stances on Israel.
My wife and I were talking about this this morning. After being National Security Advisor to the POTUS, an 8 day a week job, then SOS, a twelve day a week job, how is she going to have the energy to run for POTUS in 3 years? Of course, Veeps usually only attend funerals and take naps in the Senate, so maybe if she were nominated for Veep she'd have a chance to rest before 2008?
Change his oil, rotate his tires and Cheney's good for another 100,000 miles.
This scenario makes sense but there's one fly in the ointment. Condi's never been elected to office. Is there a precedence for someone (besides George Washington or maybe one of the very earliest Prez's) being elected with no previous elected office?

I also think we need Cheney for as long as we can keep him.
I do, however, love the idea Dr. Rice as President.
1) I'm sure Dr. Rice would do a fine job (and at least we know her leanings - no big surprises there)
2) A lot of Hildebeast's cachet is the prospect of being the 'first woman president'. Blows that advantage away and goes one better.
3) This could wrench the Black constituency away from their blind loyalty to the Democrats and finally help them realize Democrats weren't/aren't interested in them being part of the American melting-pot where the American dream is to be found.
But then again, I don't necessarily go "Oh, a "BLACK" woman" when I see Dr. Rice. It's more like sometimes I remember "Oh! that's right - Dr. Rice is Black." Her being Black and a woman is just so incidental to her abilities that those facts just don't compute, unless it's been specifically mentioned or is being discussed. So maybe the Black American voting bloc won't see her as "Black" either?
Romney ran as pro-choice when he ran for governor of Massachusetts, although as a Mormon, he had been believed to be pro-life. He is currently taking a lot of flack for objecting to a cloning scheme they have cooked up in Massachusetts, so he does have credibly pro-life credentials.
I believe if he ran as a pro-lifer, the pro-life people would accept him; the main harm of his present stance is that they would be calling him a hypocrit. Ronald Reagan in a similar position had run as pro-choice.
In the 20th Century, Herbert Hoover and Dwight Eisenhower never held or ran for elective office.
Completely agree.
Nothing would tickle my fancy more than seeing Russia, China, France or the UN put a woman in their highest elective office.
I admire Ms Rice and would hold her up as an outstanding role model for all young girls. But having a woman as our Commander in Chief, any woman, is akin to the exporting of our manufacturing base. All it succeeds in doing is to reduce our status and power on the world stage.
The globalists and our other enemies are licking their chops at the prospect of this.
Cheney is a very valuable VP..May God watch over him.
Eisenhower's VP lost to Kennedy..won 8 years later. Ford was President after Nixon's resignation,lost to Carter. Bush sr is the only VP that has won since Calvin Coolidge. Gore lost to GW...
Both Roosevelt and Kennedy died in office, putting their VPs into the Presidency.
Replacing the VP with a potential Presidential candidate does not seem to be the great leg up that everyone speculates it would be.
I don't buy it.
They already hate her guts. They hate women no matter what they do. How much different was Maggi Thatcher? There's not much different in terms of international prominance between the two.
Neither do I. It's WND hype.
