I especially like the dig at the French in this article.

These people are a lot more tolerant than I would be.

"You'll be weeding in your garden and turn around to see 20 of them standing in front of you, demanding water and food,"

Demanding? Don't they realize they are "guests" and we will give them anything they want?

Encroachment onto private land by foreign criminals is a small price to pay for inexpensive lettuce. < /sarc>

"Days into the project, the Garners and other neighbors say the idea is working, even though people on both sides of the border know the experiment is only temporary. "

Maybe after enjoying this respite, however brief, the people in the area will be more demanding of washington. I couldn't live like this.

But, but, Karl, the President tells us that these are family people, and they're only coming to America to work....

This family needs some MEAN dogs to protect their property. Our government sure isn't helping.

Hey, do these migrants or undocumented workers (i.e., illegal aliens) need to show their passports? Why is a new law implemented requiring everyone to show their passports even for trips to Mexico and Canada (not now, only proof of citizenship needed)? What's the use? Where are the troops? Why are they not guarding the border? Why can't we put some land mines with a big warning sign?

"Years ago, they would politely ask you for water outside. Now you come home and someone is in your house, eating your food, trashing your bedroom, stealing your stuff, and leaving garbage everywhere."

Now some folks may find this harsh but I would post large no trespassing signs in English and Spanish warning that as some future date, say in six months, trespassers will be shot. When that date has passed I start shooting at trespassers. Americans have a right to liberty and property and not be subject to repeated foreign invasion IN THEIR HOME.

Surprised this is in the mainstream media, and reported with little to no slant. I wonder if some people's eyes in the media are being opened.

"She translates aloud from a paper handbook that she found in an abandoned backpack, published by a Mexican group that aids people on the other side of a waist high barbed-wire fence that separates the two countries. The book explains why not to bribe American officials, what terrain to avoid, and spells out what the Border Patrol is obligated to do upon catching illegal immigrants."

Compliments of the mexican government.

I'd be internationally known for the number of dead illegals piled up on my fenceline.Especially those with the effrontery to demand anything.

I have to wonder what the result would be if the individual land owners were to invest in their own perimeter defense? Triple strand concertina, with flash bangs (Claymores if it were me) as the first ring, then a dead zone of about 50' freshly raked sand, followed by another belt of concertina. Remotely operated miniguns would be really nice for that intermediate strip, but once again that's me personally. If they didn't want to use the electricity to illuminate anything, just solar powered motion sensing IR floodlights would be cost effective, passive, and allow large areas to be watched with just a pair of PVS-7s.

If adjacent land owners then "locked together" with no gaps, they would have essentially replaced the official US border with an effective barrier. Use any available low ground to channel the movement of the illegals, and establish collection points there. Charge the gov't PER HOUR of storage for all illegals collected. After all, the states and Federal government are now using privately funded and operated prisons, why can't We The People? If this were done on a co-op style basis, the locals would then have a built-in business instead of pure liability.
